  1. Of course they still could, but twice, after Wembley & the Lincoln setbacks they have gone away & won, a good sign. For them today was like us having to go to Rovers & win to stay in contention, I know the idea of us playing those jokers in a league game seems just ridiculous, but you get my drift.
  2. They have undoubtedly found a way of getting good results but that’s the kindest thing you can say. 4-1 now, by the way Kion Etete of Cardiff, he makes Bas Savage look like Van Basten, absolute stranger to the ball, just a tall bloke who runs around, shocking player.
  3. Massive win for them today after such a poor result last week. For those who think they’ve blown automatic, after playing Charlton at home today Ipswich visit Peterborough then Barnsley. Let’s see what the table looks like then.
  4. If Forest come down I could see it being far harder for them than it should be for a parachute payment club. They have massively overspent, brought in more players than you can have in a Prem squad so will need to offload plenty of them & completely rebuild. Really hope they go down, their owner is a criminal & Cooper is a right whinger.
  5. That’s my recollection as well & I watched every game, home & away back then. He was part of the last Terry Cooper side with the likes of McClaren, Milne etc, he really wasn’t very good & TC finally left because we weren’t making any real progress in the third tier. Maybe his role at Wimbledon was just to kick people because certainly he couldn’t play football.
  6. Both Idehen & Sam Pearson are still under contract for next season so they’ll only leave this summer if we pay them up. Josh Owers & Will Buse are both out of contract & Nathan Baker of course is too, obviously our obligations to the latter end this summer but would expect the first two to leave us as well. The dynamic of contacts has completely changed, the fact that Williams & Weimann (James too) are going into their last year in 23/24 isn’t the drama it used to be. Palmer & Bakinson are two of very few to move on at our volition whilst under contract & I bet it cost us a small fortune to shift the former. Bajic & Wilson are the only two I think that could come into the category the OP was suggesting, as realistically everyone expects Scott to go.
  7. The disparity in funding by the BBC with over the bridge is stark. Pretty much every game played by Swansea & Cardiff (home & away) has a BBC Wales reporter who writes the match report. The coverage that Wrexham, Newport & Glamorgan cricket all get from the BBC is off the scale when compared to similar English sides. Still it’s not unique, unlike in England they get free prescriptions for all, free bus travel 7 years earlier than we do & capped tuition fees, all paid for of course from the same taxation system.
  8. Fair to also point out we’ve only played both of the top two once so far & with only 5 games left, that is a statistical anomaly.
  9. Fair comment. I just don’t see Nige as a “clubs in the bag” manager, he has talked a lot about not wanting to collect players & preferring to run on small numbers, so unless one of the 5 I mentioned is off, I reckon that’s it. Cornick would probably be asked to play in that role if we went down that route but think we are looking at pace on the counter attack, with any aerial stuff out being wide in the channels as opposed to a lot of balls down the middle for a target man to compete for.
  10. Spot on. To be honest loads of local journalism is amateur hour but GT was always a class above. He combined the fact that he’d actually played the game to a decent level with the ability to ask probing, well researched questions. That takes real skill. Virtually no chance that his replacement is going to be of the same calibre. As someone who has absolutely no time for Rovers the fact that he is universally liked in Bristol is a testament to him. Hope he has a great retirement but he’ll be very sadly missed.
  11. The absence of Atkinson is a big factor there, move Pring to LB & we suddenly look a taller defence.
  12. Yep, in his last season in the Championship he only scored 12 & 5 of those 12 were penalties. 7 non penalties therefore in a season, plus he’s under contract at a club that often sell at a price higher than true value. He’s miles away from what we need, though as we already have Conway, Wells, Cornick, Bell & Weimann I don’t see us bringing in a striker anyway.
  13. No, I have no idea either. Don’t watch Hollywood films, so there are absolutely loads of these actors that completely pass me by.
  14. Fair play to you, that’s true commitment. I have, I like that (for once) we have a clear plan & we have stuck to it & the pipeline from the Academy has gone from being one or two to really significant numbers. Although it looks like it has paid off for Huddersfield, many of the clubs near the bottom are on to their third manager this season to virtually no effect. I like that we are sticking with Pearson & seeing what giving someone the length of their contract, not a matter of weeks, can achieve.
  15. James really is a top player. King has hugely exceeded expectations this season after such an injury hit first one last time. At 34 he has 100% availability this season & whilst not always getting on the pitch has been in the match day squad 38 times. Yesterday he played one first time no look over the top pass out to wide left that was just sublime, to be that technically good is incredible. I would hope we wouldn’t need to rely on him as much as we have had to do recently, but offering him another year seems a no brainer to me.
  16. Everyone who I sit with was happy with both the performance & the commitment. A couple I walked back from the ground with had a similar view. Boro are top four, a good side yet we’ve drawn both games this season. This strikes me as evidence of progress & like you I was more than happy. 4 points over Easter massively exceeded my expectations, I have absolutely no idea what the OP expected? 6?
  17. And by far the cheapest. Whatever happens he’s played well over 100 league games for us & done a decent job. When we’ve struggled to have 11 experienced players to pick from he’s been one who has stood up & been counted.
  18. What on earth makes anyone think that he’d accept reduced terms? I saw someone say this in the Post, if he can get a better offer elsewhere then he’s off. I think the last 2 games will have done his chances of getting a better offer from another club the power of good.
  19. He’s played regularly for the 21s & has not been great, to be behind Leeson tonight was very revealing. Can’t see him featuring this season now, the summer is going to be interesting if he doesn’t.
  20. Goal & an assist. Some on here will hate that.
  21. Seriously if they hold on that’s a massive point. Not just because it keeps them out of the bottom three, but because they have come back from two down. That’s his third for them, he’s done ok in a poor side.
  22. At half time BBC Radio Bristol have tweeted Fleetwood haven’t created much, Rovers started the game brightly & could be level. Guess what? They aren’t. Bit like the other week when they lost 2-0 at home & they tweeted one was possibly offside, the other a penalty. They still lost, no matter how hard you try & spin in their favour. Embarrassing.
  23. Their bad run started even earlier & it hasn’t even stopped. As painful as that season was for us, we went to Boro, Swansea & Birmingham & won & gritted out a vital point at Blackburn. The point at Sheff Wed with 10 men after a terrible handball penalty decision saw Lansbury sent off was pretty huge, too. QPR don’t look like they can get a point off of anyone.
  24. They are abysmal, but I’m not sure him leaving would make any sense. If they go down he knows League One, if by some miracle they pick up enough (any?) points & survive he deserves a chance to rebuild. They seem spineless, as soon as they concede they invariably let in another. Said it a few days ago I’m not sure they’re going to get another point. Makes those posts saying we needed “at least” 50 points look completely laughable, we were probably already safe in February.
