  1. This is the lazy narrative (all over social media) that conflates our latest accounts with what is actually now on the pitch. Losing Palmer, Bentley, Martin etc, getting Wells to sign a much reduced new deal completely passes them by. I’d be very interested to know the wage bill of the 11 who finished last night’s game, Dasilva aside I reckon it is bottom half in the Championship.
  2. Fair play to you. You said you are in your late 50s, so if you want to go around with a piece of latex on your head for “fun” then good for you. This is a forum, it’s all about opinions, I’ve seen many of the same games as you & couldn’t disagree more on what we have both watched, so let’s just leave that there. I’m interested in where we are going as a club, how we get there, not fancy dress but it takes all sorts.
  3. They really won’t. Gates are up, why is that if it’s dull?
  4. They are remarkably successful at recruitment but a lot of their supporters seem to be suffering from delusions of grandeur. They are punching above their weight but why they remain so bitter about the eternal truth that players will go elsewhere for better wages is baffling. They certainly lack class, but if you’ve employed Nathan Jones twice that’s not exactly a surprise.
  5. Don’t worry, you’ll get your wish, Dasilva will be playing in the Championship next season but against us, not for us. As for his last “decent game” it was only on Saturday gone.
  6. Apologies if that’s the case. Re the last one I was trying to say that the reality here is far more dull, we were never in with a prayer of the playoffs, as some (like the bloke with the Robin mask), but not you, had suggested. Likewise some were saying we could get drawn into the relegation fight, needed 52 points to stay up (!) or that we now won’t get another point. That’s not happening either. Slow but steady progress whilst drastically reducing our wage bill.
  7. No more than £5m in total would be my guess. Nothing more from the Semenyo fee either. As for expenditure we were prepared to buy the Wimbledon LB so clearly there, we do need 2 central defenders if Kalas is let go & a couple in CM to replace him & Massengo. Really can’t see a striker coming in unless someone else leaves, we have Wells, Conway, Cornick, Bell, Weimann & Mehmeti & Sykes to play wide. Pearson prefers a smaller squad & that’s plenty unless there is a departure.
  8. You’ve got to love this forum. Some were (ridiculously) talking about the playoffs 4 games ago & now we have “we won’t get another point”. Reading & Rotherham at home to come in April plus it’s not beyond us to get a surprise away result, seeing as we’ve won at Stoke on our last 4 visits…
  9. So, couple of things; It was actually his second start. At the start of the season many highlighted that our squad only contained 2 players aged in the sweet spot of 26-30, one of them was Kalas, who was injured then & is again now, the other was Bentley, who doesn’t play for us anymore. So Cornick is 28 next month, he’s hardly on the way down at that age, is he? Last season Cornick scored 13 in a side that finished in the playoff positions, earning 20 more points than we did. We paid £300k for him, he’s an experienced Championship squad player with an excellent availability record, who doesn’t look as though he’s as fit as we’d like, but with 9 games left that is far more likely to be addressed pre season. If he still looks unfit in October & we haven’t seen much from him by then I’d understand this but there does seem a rush by a fair few to write him off.
  10. Here we go again… I’d like to order a new scapegoat..
  11. Don’t think Conway up front would have exactly weakened us, either.
  12. With the size of their front two Atkinson was a huge miss for us tonight, take your point about Kalas but unlike Rob, he’s missed most of the last year.
  13. I thought the Pring decision was pretty much the only one he gave us over 90 minutes. Not the reason we lost but seemed to give every marginal one to them.
  14. He’s vile. Sad Welsh gashead with a massive chip on his shoulder. Hopefully he’ll be crying when they **** up in the playoffs again.
  15. Morris was repeatedly pulling, kicking the ball away but after booking him the ref was never giving him a second yellow. They wasted time for most of the second half without any attempt to stop them & why that gas *** Lockyer was twice allowed to play the man not the ball to allow it to go out of play I have no idea. Much better second half, hopefully Tanner will be well enough to start & James will be back.
  16. Apparently if we take off Cornick all our problems are solved. Your analysis is spot on, by the way.
  17. They play percentages stuff, because their front two are giants but it’s not exactly easy on the eye. Basically it’s still a Nathan Jones team.
  18. I think it is called context, still gives you the opportunity to moan about Pearson, I suppose.
  19. It’s only been mentioned 8 times, he’s ill.
  20. It’s almost like we’re missing 4 key players & we’re asking the same 11 to play 3 games a week & the bench is full of untried kids, isn’t it? Pearson out. Me.
  21. We don’t know who is 100%, do we? I look at that bench, which is basically kids plus a keeper who has never played for us & think it is remarkable we have got the points we have of late. Wonder if we are thinking Swansea is a better chance of points & James comes back, Tanner starts after a breather tonight? A draw would be a hell of a result with that bench.
  22. They’re below Lincoln & Exeter FFS, miles behind Shrewsbury under the great Cotts. No way do any of those 3 have a budget anything like the convict does but as usual the local media will make excuses for them.
  23. Just been reminded this is the game they called off in dubious circumstances when Wycombe were absolutely flying under Ainsworth. “Waterlogged” pitch about a day & a bit before the game was due to be played & a decent weather forecast. How did trying to play it later in the season work out, cheating *****?
  24. 2 down now. They’re ******* rubbish, aren’t they? 4 loan players starting & old man Glenn Whelan, who is about 46, on the bench. Pointless club. Barton in.
