I’m not sure he was disliked there, more that he completely lost all form & confidence in a side that went on a terrible run. Maybe he just needed a change of scene? I just don’t see it happening here even if we struggle, he is a key player for us.
  2. Thanks for that, really informative.
  3. He was the guy who allegedly tried to renegotiate the Maguire & Andre Gray deals in the season after promotion under Cotts. Took the blame for it & left but appeared he was under orders from SL.
  4. Let’s hope he’s restored to full health. Many of us appreciate what he did for this club, his leadership was like nothing in a very long time. Cheers Nige.
  5. We’re all guessing, aren’t we? My reasoning is SL was far more humble & on the way up when he made his finance fortune. His time in football has largely been characterised by a superior attitude & that he thinks he knows it all. It might be inexcusable but it is the case, he’s still completely clueless.
  6. Because he was in an industry he understood. This “it was all Hargreaves” stuff is nonsense, they were a partnership, a team. He understands the finance industry, he hasn’t a clue about the football one.
  7. Quality. Eddo Brandes Zimbabwe batsman walks to the wicket, Glenn McGrath, “why are you so fat?”. Brandes, because every time I shag your wife she gives me a biscuit.. Greg Thomas to Viv Richards after he played & missed “it’s 6 pounds, red & round mate”. Viv after he hit his next ball out of the ground & into the river Tone, “hey man, you know what it looks like, now go & find it”.
  8. Reckon Forest was about 7000. The crowd for the Rovers cup tie was 14000, no chance more than half of those were City, my guess is about 5000 were ours.
  9. In hindsight it really isn’t such a surprise. If there is another owner & chairman out there who understand the world of football less than our two I’m really not sure who they are. Taken for fools by Mark Ashton & now placing their faith in someone who failed badly in his only (third division) managerial gig & is so obviously over promoted in his role it is untrue. A Director of Football who is embarrassingly inarticulate & parrots simple stock phrases, dear oh dear. ”Be careful what you wish for, we could have Vincent Tan, etc, etc”..
  10. Wow. Go and read the Dean Holden thread, this is an incredible view.
  11. Every club loses players, my point is it is incomplete to fail to acknowledge the playoffs bit but mention that he was sacked when they were struggling. I have no idea of the background at MK as to how much money he was given to replace the likes of Twine but whatever I think of his appointment it is surely fair not to focus entirely on a very small part? His overall record (MK, Oxford) is decent but is also at a lower level. That’s just being balanced.
  12. It was 47% because it was in League One. He kept beating Colchester & Stockport then losing to Cardiff & Brighton. He took us nowhere in 4 full seasons & had to go but like Holden no one else would ever have appointed Tinnion as manager & guess what? No one ever did afterwards.
  13. Whilst I’m on the fence about appointing Manning that is a very selective view of his time there. Made the playoffs, lost his best 3 players next summer then struggled is far more accurate.
  14. Absolutely the case that Wilson remains in denial about the pisshead culture he allowed & his side consistently bottled the big occasion. However his CV in football also pisses all over Tinnion’s, he got a side promoted to the Prem & managed 2 teams in it. His slightly slanted view still deserves respect.
  15. Nope, it’s Chinese whispers. Someone said LJ used it & all of a sudden Manning did. I’m not happy but also acknowledge it is only 6 games & as you say, he isn’t going anywhere unless we go on a massive losing run or he walks (which on a three & a half year contract, he won’t).
  16. Perhaps not too surprised to learn that from this Tinnion doesn’t even appear to know how to work a phone. The sooner he leaves the better.
  17. 100%. Think the other factor at getting more onside re Nige was the fall out from the Scott deal. Only the foolish or over optimistic seriously thought we wouldn’t sell him but no one expected the response to be to allow him to bring in a player on loan as the sole business as a result. It made a few realise he was being set up to fail for no logical reason.
  18. If there is one thing we can all agree on then we certainly don’t want a huxter in charge. Particularly as not for the first time I have absolutely no idea what he means (presumably Huckster?). “Be careful what you wish for” also has to be the most moronic statement on here & let’s face it, that is in the face of some very strong competition. ”Nurse, he’s out of bed again”..
  19. Actually a decent result for us, keeps QPR in the bottom three and Argyle still in danger. Millwall not exactly had a new manager bounce, either.
  20. If QPR win they will be level on points with Argyle & only below them on goal difference. Argyle would then have 3 points from 11 away games, they will struggle to stay up if they don’t significantly improve their away form.
  21. Dear oh dear. It’s like they don’t really want the money. I gave up buying merchandise years ago but they are literally turning money away with their amateur approach.
  22. Genuine question for you & possibly @Davefevs re Williams. If he’s not a DM, what on earth is he? He certainly isn’t box to box, maybe he was before his time with us & it could be the injury he suffered on arrival but I don’t see him as that now. He certainly is no goal threat, he is even less likely to score than James. I am not asking the question just so posters can slag the bloke off but to me if he isn’t a defensive midfielder I am at a loss to know what he is. James I get, a better passer, often keeps it simple, keeps the ball moving, good reader of the game & not a DM in the truest sense of the definition but a player you can rely on (in a side that’s lacking them) to retain possession.
  23. I deliberately left the TGH business out of my reply because I cannot fathom it. I’ve said already I am not as big a fan as some on here but overall think he’s done ok & on balance would be ahead of Williams. He appears not to be convinced by him leading to speculation as to whether he might want to spend the money elsewhere but who knows? He appears to have gone with Williams again last night (when he wasn’t great) on the basis of his performance at Huddersfield. Won’t be remotely shocked if TGH starts & Williams is on the bench for Saturday.
  24. I’m not sure. That event was a very small sample size & appeared to largely be populated by forelock tuggers & people with very little perspective beyond that. If we struggle on Saturday apathy will probably turn to anger but sadly my hunch is the scapegoats (Cornick, Weimann, maybe Tanner) plus Manning will get flak but the owner, his chairman son & Tinnion won’t.
