My prediction for the ending:
Gojo aquires Waystar and Gregg is installed as a puppet CEO. So the kids lose control of Logan’s company, are ridiculously rich still, but also very depressed.
Pierce also refuse to sell to them as they called the election for the fascist.
Not far off the mark!

Yep, Ashton's utter incompetence is actually the symptom of Lansdowns failure.
You have to wonder whether Ashton’s control of recruitment strategy was about ego or doing deals that would benefit his personal means, one way or another.

But it’s still a problem for football and that needs to be addressed too. I don’t think the ban given is severe enough. The outcome of these games can have huge repercussions.
But you could argue that he’s never set out to cheat or throw games. He’s basically bet on himself and his team to do well when he’s playing and to do badly when he’s not playing. It’s arrogant and foolish but only devious in the way that he avoided being caught.
The worst thing about players betting is the suspicion of match fixing, which doesn’t seem to be the case here.- 1

Because it's close to Failand and the training ground.
And a damn sight cheaper.
To be fair, Clifton isn’t far from Failand and is closer to the stadium too. I must admit if I was a wealthy young man I’d opt for Clifton every time.

Maybe he could live in Bath and commute?
It always surprises me that our players seem to live in Nailsea rather than Clifton village!

Apparently charging people to watch them in an "open training session" with Chelsea. League 2 Wrexham (after many attempts)!! $40 for some tickets..........
The sad thing is there will be very decent players going there and playing well below their level just to earn a quick buck. Ideal next destination for someone like Taylor Moore imo.
I don't see anything sad in a very old traditional club being rescued from decline, to be honest. If they want to progress and can afford better players to achieve it, they're only doing what any ambitious club would like to do.
And if Taylor Moore went there, he wouldn't be playing much below his level - a League One player in a team striving to reach League One.

I'm lost about the reference to LJ and MA
Presumably referencing SL losing even more money when they were in charge?

Depends what Steve did with it. I don't think he really cares as long as it funds his projects whereas Hargreaves is a bit of a miser as far as I led to believe and wants to extract as much as possible. Let's face it if SL wanted to make lots more money he could have found a better way of doing it than owning a sports conglomerate but the image that's put across is a father that wanted to spend time with his son doing something his son was interested in - can't kick him for that, the problem comes is that I think SL likes business and JL actually likes football which aren't the same thing.
Yes, I was only challenging the view that Hargreaves is better off because he kept a bigger stake in HL. In fact that will have reduced his comparable net worth. SL may have wasted money on his hobbies, but he would have lost a chunk of it if he’d left it in HL anyway.

Hargreaves owns 20% of HL, Lansdown owns 5.7%. That's the difference.
Shares in HL have fallen by two thirds in value over the last four years, so Steve was wise to get out. Hargreaves has been railing against the terrible record of the current management. More fool him for NOT diversifying.

Yes, I asked the same guy in the pub last week and apparently they had a change of heart, it also seems they are filming some interior stuff in Portishead on the fields opposite the senior school.
Portishead is going to be busy- they’re filming another TV drama there next week.

I heard yesterday from someone who was part of the backroom team on the first two series that the third series takes place in London, currently there are no plans for filming in Bristol at all.
Also, a little of additional interest for those who live in or visit Portishead Marina, the boat used in the first two series was the Viking which was moved into Bristol for a couple of weeks.
They’re filming it in Bristol this week.

Its ridiculous result, he pleaded guilty in feb but has still been playing.
Imagine if brentford were down the bottom and his goals in that time had kept them up.
Eight months is most of a season. Why does it matter which season? It could put them in danger next season for all we know.

Rumours Sol Bamba offered the job
That was widely predicted on the Cardiff forum. Not quite sure why Tan and Lamouchi fell out, but probably budgetary issues, with a novice like Bamba being more compliant I guess.

So, without reading the entire thread, can someone summarise which Championship clubs in 2023-4 are going to be seriously constrained by finances? By which I mean, needing to weaken their squad to cut wages/bring in capital to the extent it will harm performance on the field.
The ones that come to mind are Cardiff, Birmingham, West Brom and QPR. Does that sound right?

I think it’s fair to say that the guys at Bristol Post will have their own contacts too. It’s easy to say they’re just repeating last night’s chat, but they have also shut down other rumours, Ben House for example. They will reach out to agents, etc too.
Yes, surely “understands” is more likely to be code for “have been told unofficially but not allowed to quote a source”, than a guess.

Bookies view on next season

We’d have said the same about Sunderland twelve months ago and their promotion season was considerably less impressive than Ipswich’s. In the event they massively outperformed us this year.
We seem to drift along in a mid table area, never threatening to change dramatically. Compare also Cardiff, whose fortunes vary wildly from year to year.
You can understand people thinking we’ll never surprise them.
