And there is OtIb in a nutshell. A proven statistical analysis of the impact made by a player, against a person who thinks he “made very little impact” but can’t quantify that and holds a grudge against GJ for making him soil himself in his office.

Robbo, I’ll ask you again as you appear to have missed the point old bean.

If LJ didn’t make an impact, in that team, then why upon him getting injured did we oscillate from having been in promotion form for the 80% of the season when he was in the team, to relegation form for the 20% when he wasn’t.

Take your time champ. You’ve got this.

Robbored is not strong on facts and is also vastly hypocritical. He seems to have forgotten the positive assessment he made of LJ just a few weeks before he left. He just can’t resist a bandwagon.

This made me chuckle - post match quote from LJ:
‘I don't want to give excuses because we just weren't good enough, but the altitude seemed a bit of a problem in terms of the lads getting a breath in.‘

Be surprised if they don’t turn it around in the second leg though.

Andorra play at about 1000m in the Pyrenees. Whilst that isn’t considered “high altitude” (compared with, say, the issues in Bolivia) it is probably high enough to have a minor effect on breathing, so it’s likely to be a valid point.

Taller maybe, bigger as in physically and presence on the pitch no comparison.

Moore is taller and they weigh the same, which I think you’ll find is “bigger as in physically”!

Presence on the pitch has nothing to do with physical size, of course.

I have no problem with people having opinions I may not agree with. But those opinions should be based on proper research, which is rarely the case.

But I don’t think that’s true of Gab Sutton. He knows his stuff, but is predicting some rapid improvements at other clubs while feeling we will continue to tread water. Personally I think he’s optimistic about turnarounds at eg QPR Hull and Birmingham, and wrong about us, but we’ll see.

Apparently there was an incident in the SC shop in the week where a supporter came in to buy an amount of merchandise, and not realising it was a cashless outlet demanded to pay in cash, which is obviously legal tender. After being refused, he placed the correct amount on the counter and left with his purchase. The club are now looking to identify him and prosecute for theft.
I am no legal expert, however a comment from someone who is, states that once you have selected an item for purchase, you are indebted to the retailer for the correct amount which you are legally entitled to pay for with the currency of the crown, thereby making theft not an option for SC. Thoughts?https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid02z3pSijS9Rz96ffT26bdJpjdgFDkyoVEDRq3DH5XiLUncfHqP8NtBJybDfQHqiMmTl&id=100044634120233&post_id=100044634120233_pfbid02z3pSijS9Rz96ffT26bdJpjdgFDkyoVEDRq3DH5XiLUncfHqP8NtBJybDfQHqiMmTl

Legal tender has nothing to do with paying for goods. It only means that if you owe someone a debt and offer them to settle it in cash, they can’t sue you if they refuse it.

A shop owner neither has to sell you the goods in his shop (see “invitation to treat” as discussed above) nor does he have to accept cash as a means of payment. Indeed, as in the recent TV advert, if he only accepts payment for a pound of potatoes in Bitcoin, that’s his prerogative.

Nige likes his defenders to be large, hence the liking for Kalas, the signing of Dickie who is a big unit and the promotion of Raph who is going to be massive.

Taylor-Moore comes across as a really nice bloke, fairly lightweight and an intelligent person, just doesn’t fit the profile.

    Hmmm.

Taylor Moore us bigger than Kalas. Two inches taller, according to Wikipedia anyway.

I recommend looking up the impressive Action for Albion fans group. The 442 writer appears to know nothing about what @robinforlife2has posted. 10 minutes research would have put him straight if only had been assed. ?

Absolutely. This is why browsing other forums is worthwhile. You get a better idea of the mood at clubs and the inside info than you do from the neutral (uninformed) media.

Don't know if been mentioned on here but................the "Mathildas" , really ?    I'm not worried personally but it just seems a bit disrespectful (in this woke day an d age)  It'seems like calling the Lionesses the Dorises or the Karens . Just my thoughts .

Can’t agree, as Waltzing Matilda is a sort of informal national anthem.

Mind you, why aren’t they the Sheilas? ?

    Well done New Zealand

Good goal and a great result for them - but the match wasn’t a good advert for women’s football overall. If Norway are ranked 12th and there are 32 teams in the tournament, there are going to be some dire games.

Not a chance. I wouldnt expect anymore than £5m to be spent. The rest used to dent a big FFP hole, with the option of a bit of it in Jan if we really needed backup or a push for playoffs etc.

I think it depends on what you mean by spent; on transfer fees, no but on packages maybe.

Remembering that a 3 year contract at £10Kpw will cost you £1.5M, a player bought for a fee of £1.5M is actually a cost of £3M.

Yes, Brigstow = place of the bridge I believe. The local dialect led to the g being dropped and as you say an l being added, as is common with other words.

I think the sound of the O in Bristolian is the most Bristolian sound of all. If you get my drift. Nobody anywhere else pronounces a long O that way. I’m not from Bristol but living in Somerset and I think it’s unique.

I agree, 25m is the price, thats it.

There is no "bidding war", its not in the clubs long term interest to indulge in one.

It does seem that Alex and his agent are playing ball with the club, but for how long ? If we go another couple of weeks and City have turned down 22m or 23m , they may get a bit jumpy and push for City to accept a lower fee (provided there is a club that suits Alex).

I read somewhere that City are being intransigent or inflexible with the price, but the fact is they have publicly said all along the fee is 25m so it seems to me that its the bidding clubs that are being inflexible - just pay the 25m or walk away, don't bleat about it.

Still not 100% convinced that an EPL club will pay the full 25m even though a couple seem to be getting close.

I don’t think City said the fee is £25M. As I recall, we said he wouldn’t go for less than £25M and if the demand was strong his value would go up. That says to me that we want at least £25M but if there are multiple offers, the highest bid wins.

Joe can be fairly anonymous at Millwall, living in London. Jolly good money at a club that do not have to be promoted. Finish top ten, top eight, no great drama. In fact, they are pretty unlikely to get in the play offs or finish bottom third, so no drama, no angst, no must-win pressure. Just very good money, doing something he can easily do, and living pretty anonymously in one of the great cities of the world, with no-one bending his ear every time he steps out of his "manor" (getting a taxi being the only exception).

No home-town goldfish bowl, no PP club must achieve this. No big crowd. No real bother. And great money. Plus libraries, and books. Just need to put yer foot in, Joe, every now and again; and when the opposition are breaking 4 against your 3, probably want to at least look like you are trying to get back and help.

Otherwise, no bother. And good money. Plus small crowd, and few "musts."

“they are pretty unlikely to get in the playoffs “

Really? A club that finished eighth last season, one point off the playoffs?  Why?
