  1. I know it’s very early days, but when looking at the table today, I couldn’t help noticing that five of the bottom six clubs are from Yorkshire. Two are in fact among the promotion favourites (Boro and Leeds) while three are tipped to be near the bottom (Huddersfield, Rotherham and Wednesday). The only respectable outliers are Hull.

It was only this that made me realise how tyke heavy the Championship has become - seven clubs out of twenty four.

It will be interesting to see how this goes. Could we have an all Yorkshire relegation treble?

The main credit goes to Vyner. He stayed strong, didn't let his mishaps dent his confidence, and came back improved.

No doubt NP and all the coaching staff had a part to play, but Zak is fulfilling his potential through his mentality.

He always had ability on the ball - I suspect the gaffes were largely due to poor positional judgement. Presumably ironing that out is due to coaching.

What on earth are you talking about, what a bizarre post.

There have been lots of valid reasons in this thread both to like and dislike aspects of both Lee's playing and managing time here if you actually cared to read.

The Trump thing? No idea what you're even on about there. If you want some reasons people dislike him then feel free to drop me a pm or post on the relevant thread in the politics bit rather than bring it here.

I think the basic point about the boo boys and an irrational hatred dating back to his playing days is pretty accurate, to be fair.

Not quite sure about the Trump comment! What does it even mean?

How does everyone reassess their expectations for the season? For me, the outside chance of the play offs (which I’m perfectly happy with given the lack of parachute payments) has been replaced with expectations of 14-17th and little to play for past February. How depressing.

I honestly don’t see how you can think that Alex on his own would be worth a ten place upgrade in our league season. Good, yes, miracle worker, no.

Rob Dickie looked like he was blowing out his arse in the first half, he wasn't on it at all, not winning much, passing poor, slow, 2nd half he didn't have anything to do however

Yeboah looks quick and strong which is great, just needs time to work on what options to take

Couldn’t disagree more about Dickie. Thought he was excellent in the first half.

Hey, leave him alone....he only had it pointed out to him a dozen or so times after using the "fact" initially before using it again.  Facts have never been RR's strong point, especially when the topic of conversation happens to have the surname Johnson.

Intriguingly “Rob bored” wrote quite flatteringly about LJ as a manager a few weeks before he was sacked, but has since gone down a revisionist bandwagon route.

That's our get out of jail free card used today, the girls certainly dug deep but the history books will show a Lionesses victory

Now to find a bar at London Bridge to watch the game on Saturday

    Utmost.

Yeah, sorry, but that’s one that bugs me.

Glad they’re through but I’m 40 years old and I’ve never seen the Men’s team ride their luck and get so many decisions in their favour, wish Lady Luck would spread it around a bit ?

Still think we should have had that early pen though.

Phew but that was tough on Nigeria who deserved more, they were certainly the better team

But failed to score in two hours of dominance. Very poor finishing when it mattered. How many saves did our keeper need to make?

They were strong and stopped us playing but you have to score goals too.

Bournemouth!!!! Can't get my head around that....we are a bigger club than that little seaside outfit....if he goes just another backward step in our dreams. But then again why does that not surprise me, we have been conned again into thinking we are getting somewhere at last, typical BCFC.

Nostalgia is lovely isn’t it? Sadly, in the last ten years they’ve spent almost as much time in the top tier as we have in our history. And we were last there 43 years ago. Their achievements make them a bigger club than us right now, despite what happened in my youth.

I thought Williams had a good game yesterday.  Knight was ok, won more balls back than anyone other than our 2 CBs.  He didn’t get going on the ball.

Partnerships and combinations can take a while to get going.

Some flaws in our game yesterday and also Preston stopped us too.

Worth everyone going and reading / watching this thread.

It wasn’t all bad yesterday.  It wasn’t great either…by any stretch.  We were below par.  First half was fine, two teams sussing each other out, neither getting into their rhythm.

Second half…I think everyone thought the goal would be lift-off, it had the opposite effect.  Preston came on strong, we actually defended pretty well, despite being strung out a bit.  Set-pieces were wicked from Best, but we defended them well.

    We looked fitter….but not sharper.

Hopefully a grow into the season.

“First half was fine” - seriously? I thought we were abysmal and they played well. Admittedly they created little , but they were on the front foot and played decent football. We seemed to have no first touch, no ability to find space or pass.

Naismith return would help us spread the play a bit better IMO. Also would give us the theorerical opportunity to switch between a back 3 and 4 in play in different phases as he can sit at the base of midfield or drop beyween the centre backs. Not sure we have anyone with that specific skillset, McCrorie maybe medium term.

On yesterday’s showing, Naismith could replace James, who I thought (unusually) had a bit of a shocker.
