I would rather players delivered a performance before anyone delivers a song.

There is a reason Vyner doesn't have one yet.

Agree - Kacey Palmer had a good song then he sign permanently. That went well as i remember.

  2. TBH I hope we are closer to mid table but i think we were poor last season and I haven't seen too much to suggest this season will be any better.

We haven't had to fight off bids from our better payers yet but I'm sure we will and I'm not sure we are in a place footballing wise or financially to replace any that do go with decent signings. Lower league and journey men is where i think we will be shopping and that doesn't mean anything other than a relegation fight.

Really hope I'm wrong but I am not full of confidence - that probably means will win the play offs if my predictions are anything to go by.

Similar to Joe Root with the test team, you’d question his sanity if he wanted to stay in position to be honest.

I'd question his sanity iv he walked. Its very rare for a manager to walk mainly because of the compensation they will get when sacked.

If he walks he gets nothing - if he stays and things don't improve he gets sacked with pay off - if he stays and improves things he'll get an improved contract extension.

  4. OH Basso OH Basso ..........

I loved the way in our play off year when we were the 1-0 kings he would waste so much time every time he caught the ball diving to the floor and lying on the ball.

Didn't he "convert" Bradley Orr to religion after Bradley's misdemeanours

So what’s the answer? Sack NP, pay off his contract and appoint a new man.

Welcome to Bristol City, you haven’t got a penny to spend, but the OTIB brigade insist that you make a silk purse out of a sows ear…

    Good luck.

Sorry I've not been very clear.

Saying give any manager the first 10 games of next season is almost saying you don't believe he is the right manager and his days are numbered. I think you either sack before the summer so a new man has pre season and a chance to shape the team or have faith and back the manager without a 10 game deadline.

I think the keep NP but see what its like after 10 games next season is like saying I don't want to sack the manager yet.

The summer and 10 games into next season I’d say. If we don’t see improvement by then I think his position starts to become unattainable

The only trouble with this approach is IF it goes pear shaped at the start of next season a new manager will have NP's summer transfer in's and out's to work with. The Jan window is usually rubbish so it won't be until the start of the following season you see the new manager's team.

Another thought is if those thoughts are in SL mind then he might be reluctant to back NP in the summer transfer market.

So you disregard all of the factors created by LJ and Ashton and a 39 m loss and the dross of a squad that 39 m they delivered . Give me strength .. City fans are really on another planet .

No I don't disregard any of those factors but how long can a manager live off the mistakes of a predecessor?

This isn't pro LJ or anyone else but LJ was sacked because we were falling away from the playoff places - at the time this was probably the right decision. 2 Managers down the line and we are now just happy to stay up.

Look I will get behind the team and manager no matter what but for those who say "NP must stay and given time" I haven't seen a single argument that backs that up only "look at what he inherited". I genuinely thought he was a good appointment and would take us closer to the prem. Reality is we are closer to League 1.

There are some really good things to have come out of this season particularly the emergence of some bright youngsters but performances, in the main, are not good enough.

NP must stay and be given time

    As others have asked why?

Like most I thought NP was a good appointment but I have been very disappointed. Unlike many I don't see an improvement - yes we win a game and play well now and again but we also have awful days. We are the wrong end of the table and results have been terrible since NP's appointment.

So the other question I have is how much time would you give NP?

In the years since LJ left we gone from a club who expected to be pushing for the play offs to one thats just happy to stay up. Is that what we really want?

So, just to make sure I have understood this correctly.

Consortium A is tentatively interested and is requested to pay £5M up front, an amount which is non-refundable, just to register their interest and receive access to sufficient documentation to undertake due diligence.

Upon examination, they discover it is the can of worms many suspect it is and withdraw their interest.

Quantuma say, no problem, thanks for your time, but you are not getting your £5M back.

    Goodbye.

Either I have completely misunderstood this, which is very possible, or the whole debacle is even more outrageous and farcical that I imagined.

What you haver described is how my Derby friend and his fellow supporters see it. Strange because even is you are interested only 1 buyer can buy the club.

Shame an owner cannot owe 2 clubs, otherwise they could offer prospective buyers a BOGOF - buy Chelsea and get Derby thrown in.

That would interest Mike Ashley - be like being in Sports Direct

So, Quantuma not as incompetent as is being claimed.

Just think, twenty potential buyers all paying a non-refundable deposit of £5M, that makes £100M, less Quantuma’s fee, leaves a net £50M.

    Problem solved, Well Done Quantuma.

Or perhaps your Derby friend is mistaken ?.

    But still no buyer.

How many potential buyers do you think would give £5m just to register an interest. This isn't Chelsea where £5m is a drop in the ocean this is Derby who don't even own their own ground.

    Quite.

Listened over lunch. Have to say the point he made on HMRC debt was a good one. Derby owe £27m, the next highest debt to HMRC in the Championship was said to be QPR, who reportedly owe £2.2m (and he gives a couple of other examples in Luton and Millwall owing less than £1m). So yeh, HMRC are quite rightly asking questions as to why 23 other clubs are perfectly capable of paying (most of) their HMRC debts, including using the loans from the Prem to do so, and yet somehow Derby County couldn't.

This is what I hate. Derby owe £27m in tax thats £27m that you and me have to pay.

The administrators should be asked some serious questions about what they are doing for their money. A friend and also Derby fan tells me that any potential buyer had to pay a £5m non refundable deposit just to register an interest and the fans think thats one reason why there are no interested parties. He also thinks the administrator is delaying in case Derby beat the drop and are worth more as a championship club.

So transfers are banned, ticket sales have been stopped and the club shop is closed.

    Good.

I feel sorry for Chelsea fans and would hate for this to happen to Bristol City but there is a horrible war going on and football cannot be treated as a special case. I know we all think football is special but while Ukrainian hospitals are being bombed its not. If it hurts Russia and puts pressure on Putin to stop then shut the club down.

If that was the case, we'd have been doing it for ages for all conflicts across the world. All of a sudden one of our enemies does it and its now in all grounds. I understand the point that you're making, I just think it leaves the door open for a path I don't want it to go down. But maybe this is just modern football.

The Chelsea fans shouldn't have put in a position where'd they felt the need to do it but I get your point.

Remembrance day is once a year and does appear to be the "go to" example for people talking about political things in football. It's not a dig at you by any means. Minute silences are common now or applauses, whichever seems more appropriate.

Fully agree with your last point. The issue with political broadcasts is that depending on the escalation of the war in Ukraine, it may come to a time where mp's speak before a game. Whether that's the local constituency mp or a recorded message by the PM. Outside the ground then can do what they like, inside the ground, no thank you. If clubs do intend to put political messages across then it could lead to things like this. Hopefully not but maybe I just think worst case scenario.

Apologies if I'm not making my point clear, Sunday morning after all ?

    I agree with this statement.

Whether you agree or not with the sentiment or message is not the point. If you make a justure like this or taking the knee or supporting any other issue then you have to give others the right to disagree.

I heard an interesting article on the news this morning where a Russian gymnast won a medal at some event over the weekend and wore a t-shirt with a pro Russian slogan. He is being investigated. But if you can wear a pro Ukranian why not a pro Russian t-shirt. If we start only allowing the things someone thinks is acceptable then we become Russia or worse George Orwells vision 1984.

Also, don’t know about anyone else, but I absolutely cringe when people take ‘please give me your shirt’ signs in!!!

It was cute the first time now I see it at every game I go to.

  16. "We haven’t won the number of games that we should have done. We haven’t got the number of points that we should have. But we’re not under-performing. In fact, a lot of our players are over-performing."

I cannot understand this statement from the manager who last week publicly slated some of the players.

If "We haven’t won the number of games that we should have done. We haven’t got the number of points that we should have." then by definition we are under performing and if "a lot of our players are over-performing." what was the rant about last week?

Publicly criticizing the players now the Chairman - I think his days will be numbered.

Jordan has a point whether you like him or not.

Having a business model which sets your player wages to be around 90% turnover and living on the edge, thinking you can bring through youth and sell for profit all the time, eventually it'll fail, which is what we're seeing (added with the extra pressure of COVID)

Let's not pretend player's aren't the issue here, because they are. Their wages are astronomical. We've got Wells on the bench every game earning over a million pounds a year. No wonder we're in the shit. Palmer, stealing a living. Players that were signed a few seasons back on crazy salaries, for which we might pay the price for next season.

Edit - one thing to add, this does highlight the need to scrap the unfair parachute payments. Fulham have the best striker in the league, reportedly earning £60/70k a week, but they can do so due to the payments from being in the Prem.

Clubs wouldn't strive so hard just to try and remain competitive if the parachute payments didn't exist imo.

I don't like this type of comment. Why is Palmer stealing a living?

Somebody decided to sign him on a contract at a rate of pay. He had been on loan so we knew what we were buying. If the club choose to now not use the player thats the clubs fault. I'm sure Palmer would rather be playing than not.

I would describe it as mismanagement by the club. We bought and expensive asset and then haven't used it.

Why? Are they wallflowers? Shrinking violets? Snowflakes?

People who buckle under criticism - stinging though it may be - are precisely the type of personalities our team can do without, surely?  (Irrespective of who the manager is, btw)

I know where you're coming from but we need people made of sterner stuff than this.

The point is we haven't got anybody else and aren't likely to have wholesale changes in the summer. Saying your not good enough and ill get rid of you is hardly good motivation for players who are clearly suffering a lack of confidence to see games out.

If your boss told you that how would you feel?
