Sir Alex didn’t leave them in a mess, he won the league, chose Moyes to succeed him, had a proper handover and had a plan in place to take them forward. The problem came when they sacked Moyes and then ripped up the plan and started chucking money about like confetti on managers and players with no idea what the plan was. They lost all culture and identity within a couple of years, and it will take many many more to turn it around.
Absolutely.
In some ways, losing David Gill affected them more. The players that Moyes wanted and Woodward only managed to get him Fellani last minute. It went downhill from there really.

Has anyone else not read this whole thread and now too worried to post in case they write something “wrong”?
No. FFS get a grip

I see Bristol Live and ripped the story and claim they have sources.
Out of all the prem teams, Palace seems the best fit. I don’t think 12m is a terrible starting bid. Forest have signed Watfords striker for 20m and he scored on the prem last year

No idea whether this has legs.
If he was to go for £12m then it’s not about how much of it Nige can spend, it doesn’t work like that really.
If our playing budget was £25m, wages, amortisation, etc to stay inside FFP and we project to spend £25m, then receiving £12m (all profit) would give us £12m free to spend plus a small amount of Antoine’s wages freed up.
Theoretically, we could buy four £5m players on 4 year deals on £20k p.w and still have £2m left over this year. We would have to look at the impact on next seasons budgets and beyond though!
I fully expect the situation to be that Nige will need to see some of the £12m cover a bit of FFP and also not to use it all this windows, ie keep a bit up his sleeve.
Course it is and you just wrote a post explaining it.

Have a word.
Give your head a wobble.
Rent free.

FFP, amortisation, spreadsheets.
I get it’s important but a thread can get bogged down too much with it.

Obviously taken the instruction to be more aggressive literally.
Though would say he can’t win, stands off he’s weak, gets stuck in, he’s reckless.
Doubt Baker would have been getting flak for it.
I doubt he cares what you think…

I think Pearson deserves a lot of credit for Weinmans form (as well as the player himself). He resigned him and played him in his favourite/best position generally. For me, he’s never looked like a proper goal scorer until Pearson came in.
If Johnson had managed to get him to score 20 goals in a season, he’d be shoehorning ‘his’ achievement in every interview.

I got a friend who’s claim to fame is that he got a blow job from Rose West! She was quite good at it too!
Would you be brave enough to tell her otherwise?

You might also say it’s odd to turn an assist for a winning goal into a criticism of a player’s ability.
Not really. I was replying to a post about how assists stats can be misleading.

I doubt he’s remotely bothered what you think.
That’s an odd reply.
Might as well shut the forum down if you can only post what players care about.

It’s one of those (and this is a criticism of what classes as an “assist” as opposed to a criticism of COD) where it’ll show in the stats but isn’t really something where he had a key involvement. Had the ball wide and passed to Sawyers edge of the box/20 yards out - Sawyers with the finish but still lots to do.
Sorry, assists are a real bugbear of mine. The last pass isn’t always the key involvement in the goal.
It was typical O’Dowda move.
He had the ball out wide, rather than take a risk, he brings the ball backwards and plays a 5 yard sidewards ball.

What would YOU have done?
1, go to your mothers funeral who died of covid/dementia in a city 30miles away or
2, take your wife to hospital 10miles away for an op to try and save her eye ball which she smashed falling onto a loo brush in bathroom, to be there for her, the op was unsuccessfull and she has lost her sight in one eye and has not driven since.
both of the above were on the same day at the same time.
I picked 2, and would do so every time, the cost since, 2years ago has been my brother and 2 sisters have not spoken since. There loss imo i thought of mum while waiting at the hospital but out cast since that day, would anyone have chosen 1,??
All this just after my cancer op and all through covid.
2. All day long.
in that situation, I know my mum would want me to go for number 2 as well.

I think Man Utd XI would have been a better fit. When did Beardsley play for Man Utd?

Need a football fix tomorrow?
Yate Town are hosting a load of Manchester United Legends at Lodge Road. Over 1650 tickets sold, which is massive for a small club like ours.
Buy your tickets here: https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/yatetownfc
Who are the Man Utd legends?

Good luck in getting a quick reply from him.
Check out Hoggans Promotions on Facebook. They manage quite a lot of the live music in bars in Bristol. They covered the fan zone a few times last season.

I’d like to actually hear and see what the trust do now a days. I don’t remember seeing anything for a long that actually seeks fans views, challenges the club then feedbacks. Arranging the awards and the odd do is great and all that.

Not really. He and his family would have known the exact risks. Would you place your child’s happiness of the success of Lee Johnson?

That would make the McAllister transfer even more ridiculous and hilarious.
