  1. Nah, think Steve with his Guernsey connection and linkages with the ‘local’ club, plus biggest ever transfer income for the Club wants to have some reflected glory. No issue with that at all.
  2. O’Neills are only part of the problem, they are only printing our designs on their garments. I think most of us can live, given the post-Hummel situation, with the occasional bit of shoddy manufacture providing the Club take it back and replace it. It’s the awful designs whether that be the type and positioning of logos, patterns, colours that are an equal, if not greater, issue. That said, if we did ditch O’Neills at least we would more than likely be obliged to use an alternative supplier’s standard templates - so we limit our design input to just colours.
  3. As the direct opposite to the dysfunctional commercial side, the ‘players out’ model we operate is run like a well-oiled machine. Alex, has incredible talent, and I’m pretty confident he will go on and have a great career in the Prem. He has been in the shop window for the past 6 months and everyone at the Club has been ensuring he’s a visible ‘for sale’, but only at a decent fee. The classic was Nige’s recent interview, with the reference to the ‘Alex Scott mug. Smart, and not the first time we’ve promoted players in order to avoid being fleeced. Key to the success of our model and promotion to the Prem, is the ‘players in’ side of the equation. I get The Academy is now delivering but imo that, alone, won’t get us into the Prem. Feel more confident with Nige and Tins at the helm of player recruitment… but still worry about the lack of a network of experienced, proven talent scouts. Hopefully, will be proved wrong and our new ‘batch’ of incomers will push us on to the long-promised land.
  4. Fear, if he does go, we’ve little time now to negotiate the 3 players we need a quality keeper, midfielder and forward - although a loan for the forward might give us a bit more elbow room time wise. If we don’t move in this window, we all know January isn’t a great time to do business. Apart from the Conway injury saga, at least we now know why Nige was in a mood earlier - although that may be ‘an act’ to prise as much as he can from Steve’s pockets to fund incoming transfers.
  5. Can we just unplug and do a reset with this clothing team? I get very occasionally breaking every design rule that has ever existed to do something really different, special and unique. However, this conveyer belt of clothing is just a friggin mess. Just when you think it can’t get any worse, they bring something new out that lowers the bar further.
  6. I thought that too. ‘Bit miffed’ …. a little understated. Bloody angry, more accurate. Not quite sure what Tommy was doing tbh. Don’t think our protocol is any different to anyone else’s. Club’s virtually exclusively announce injury news/updates, not players. Assume that’s what Scott’s ‘zip’ response was about. Detect a little bit of restlessness around at the moment with a few players given a couple of things that Nige has mentioned. Nothing that a good win and dominant performance tonight won’t sort though, I’m sure.
  7. Disappointing performance from Jonathan. Usually gets his mention in far earlier than that ? Made up for it with his Marty Feldman Eyes referee reference though. Only those of a certain vintage would understand.
  8. Is that a ‘space invaders’ tribute shirt? Anyone, watch Nige’s press conference with the O’Neills ‘tag’ positioned neatly half below/ half under the collar? They do seem to have an issue positioning any logo on their shirts, most are way above normal chest level. Hopefully ‘Splat’ will also migrate up and, with any luck, away.
  9. Well, personally, I think they’re a lot better than our third shirt effort. Goes to show it is easy, particularly with such a low bar having been set by our Club.
  10. Full of optimism. 5th. Possibly from the top. Probably.
  11. That door canopy as their 2018/19 close season ground ‘improvement’ takes some beating. So prowed, they even took a photo and published it. Joint second for me, Santa’s Grotto and the Disabled section with the plastic chairs and wooden garden shelter. Whenever we think things are bad, just look over the fence at our neighbours. The gift.
  12. Any decent contract would have penalty clauses relating to failure to meet specified requirements, timings, quantities and quality being critical performance measures. Suspect the Club won’t lose out financially on their supplier’s performance, or lack of it. The ‘loss’, aside from O’Neills likely financial and reputational damage, is for the fans. The Club should’ve understood this, and should’ve been far more open and apologetic with us about the situation. Think fans would have been far less critical of the situation if that had taken place. Most of us understand the position that Hummel left us (although that’s largely due to Hash Tags video, nothing that our Club has done ) and the need for patience/tolerance while the mess was sorted out. ‘Splat’, however, would appear exclusively of our own making, which is unfortunate. Time for a Nigel-type person to move in to oversee our commercial, design and communications teams and get some of the basics sorted.
  13. Yep. Some people deserve success. That’s not how the World works, but I genuinely hope not just for the Club, Steve et al, but for Nigel himself he gets promotion and the plaudits for having taken a backwater Club that was pretty much on its knees into something special.
  14. Struth, the pinging must have broken the sound barrier in the first couple of months with MA about!
  15. Think many of us around a similar age, same interests -even down to owning a woodland, comparable people and task management experiences (all be it in a different realm), similar home set up, can fully relate to Nige’s way of thinking. The similarities don’t end there, I too have optimism about the new season. Think Nige has crafted a totally new Club culture in a comparatively short space of time. We have identity, and a strong one at that. How long have some of us being calling for that! This new ‘identity’ will provide a platform for our future success, whether this season or next. If flipping Luton can do it, so can we. COYRs.
  16. Did I hear a rumour they’ve pre-assembled some of the structure in their car/coach park? Even better, if so.
  17. It was, however, fully in their control to submit a planning application in a timely manner and to the requisite standard. Time to stock up ?
  18. .. and that O’Neils need to raise their game by several notches.
  19. Not quite sure The Saggies have got a full understanding of this planning malarkey. Valid grounds in support of an application doesn’t include ‘give us a break for god sake’. Does the Sag Official in charge of this project live in Oxford by any chance?
  20. Ah, but have they not put in the foundations, which has triggered the ‘commencement of development’ claims. According to some Sags they have done this work, but others claim they haven’t, refuting such scurrilous suggestions made by their ‘enemies’. The truth is out there, somewhere ??
  21. Our badge is ‘ok’, not great, just pretty mediocre. The thinking behind Splat baffles me. The Suspension Bridge is our secondary image. We already have a Robin in our official badge, so don’t need a repeat. Splat needs to sod off, together with our second rate kit manufacturer and our lamentably designed range of leisure wear.
  22. Strongly suspect that the Committee agenda will be prepared 10-14 days before the meeting date. I would have thought that the applicant will be submitting additional detail in support of the proposal that will also need time to be evaluated by officers. As stated back in Spring, it was patently obvious - particularly looking at the ‘quality’ of the submission - that this structure would not have the necessary permissions by the start of the season. I suspect this SAGa should keep us all entertained for at least another couple of months.
  23. I still don’t understand why they don’t use the stop on the cricket pitch side of the road. Far less traffic congestion and safe pedestrian underpass access from the Ground. Probably the bloke that manages the specials bus stops is the same one that controls use of LA P&R.
