  1. ‘WANTED - Hummel Trainingwear’ Is that you Nigel?
  2. That list excludes the all important 2019 ‘stadium’ improvement of fixing a fibreglass porch canopy over a (single) door entrance to one of the Club rooms. They actually published a photograph of this monumental achievement. Give Wally some credit FFS. Tinpot they are not.
  3. At a superficial level, yes a work uniform. However, elite sport is about small percentages. What you wear has a bearing on psychological ‘well being’. Do you feel good in your kit in the context of quality, design and, indeed, branding? Does it help your attachment to a ‘club’, strengthen your bond, give you an identity to be proud to be associated with? On all counts, we seem to be failing. Frankly, if I was forced to wear a low grade O’Neil ‘splat’ kit, I’d feel a tadge embarrassed and, yes, I do believe that would reflect in performance - not greatly, but ‘small percentages’ - and slightly more than the grass being 0.1 mm too long.
  4. Yes. Councillors, generally, take a pretty dim view of premature erections. The question is, have the Council good grounds for a refusal ? If they have, and they receive objections from local residents - impact on residential amenity, traffic and parking issues immediately spring to mind - that could well make life very difficult for our gassy friends. I thought from the outset that they were taking a massive risk. That said, if the height and massing of the stand has no greater impact on local residents that the old stand and there is no increase in capacity … I suspect they’ll get it.
  5. Nice colour and logo, but ‘Sky Blue’ and ‘City’ translate as Man City (or Coventry City) to anyone interested in football. I strongly suspect that blue will appear in our away kit, but even with that tenuous link we aren’t remotely likely to be perceived by anyone as being ‘Bristol’ City in that training kit - with the possible exception of 1 or 2 programme collectors. Can only assume whoever designed this is a non-football person. That begs the question what the **** are our Club thinking when signing it off or even commissioning them in the first place. Surely, by now, our CEO has got his hands on the wheel and can see what a shambles our branding, clothing and retail ‘offer’ has become. The Club might come out with a social media video explaining the colour rationale. May be they’ve had a colour consultant in who decided as Man City are a great team that our players, by wearing the same colour, will themselves turn into world beaters. Frankly, I just see it as yet another wasted commercial opportunity, and another weakening of the Club identity. In the big scheme of things training kit design is relative trivia, but part of a worrying wider pattern of decision-making.
  6. Gutted that neither Soton or Plymouth aways are on a Saturday. Think plod have been busy meddling with our fixtures again!
  7. Flew over AG a week or so ago and can confirm it was sand over the entire playing area.
  8. Great, positive team football. Some really high quality individual performances too. Only negative was Wilson, who couldn’t have wished for a better platform on which to show his abilities and he was, basically, shite…and then some.
  9. Not just forgiven, but awarded a knighthood for services to OTIB ( far more deserving than 99.9% of those awarded).
  10. ... my mate Brunel suggested we add Plymuff to that list.
  11. Could there be some reverse logic going on here by the Club? Could we all be part of some clever marketing ploy? Could ‘Splat’, as he is now affectionately called, have been designed so badly and given such prominence on, well, just about everything that it becomes like legendary? A sort of ‘must have’ because it’s just so naff, bordering on insane? In years to come the Pearson Harley Davidson ‘Splat’ Biker T Shirt could be worth a mint. Get your orders in and clear the shelves (then we can get some proper gear in).
  12. 100% it’s just so strikingly obvious the link to Man City I find it difficult that anyone with football nouse would actually sign that off. But there we go. Another mistake to join that MASSIVE splattered Robin, pee-coloured third shirt et al. The original resigned badge was ok and some of the Hummel stuff was both of good design and quality. We seem to have taken a big step backwards for whatever reason.
  13. Clearly, Man City castoffs. Hopefully though they gave us some of their players too as part of the trade. I fear, otherwise, it’s all going to be a bit of embarrassment for our femmes in the top league.
  14. Have a video of the Forest away game on video recorded from the Central TV coverage after I got home from the match. Problem is I’d have to search through 1,000s of porn videos to find the right one. Give me a few weeks and send an envelope, preferably, with your address written in braille.
  15. Think Council’s in the past had the power to CPO land ‘for the proper planning of the area’. Uncertain whether that power still exists. If the ‘Sporting Quarter and the Region’s premier entertainment facility was fully backed by the local Councils, with a bit of creative thinking, that power - or others available in the administrative toolbox - could prove to have some leverage in the matter. I’ve always found where there’s a will, there is invariably a way. Seems to me that nobody can be arsed to put any effort in to resolving the issue or supporting the only real decent sporting and entertainment facility in the South West. Typical of the mentality of those in control. Compare and contrast the relative ease by which Exeter Chief’s Sandy Park gets supported….major pedestrian road bridge and link to nearby station, junction works, hotel, close P&R, trains, entertainment licences, stadium development …the list goes on.
  16. Thanks. I know it’s cool, but that’s no consequence of your political leadership, more the quality and abundance of natural and built assets and presence of some creative, chilled people who live there. It could be so much better with a little effort.
  17. That’s far more complex than the powers that be in Bristol and surrounds can process. May be if we drew them some pictures it would help them. Put a tunnel in and it may even appeal to your underground-obsessed Mayor. Being backwards and slow occasionally has benefits, but in this instance, not. Beyond despair of a City, that has so many natural assets and talents, being led by a bunch of donkeys. Moved away nearly 50 years ago and so glad for the enrichment of ‘can do’ cultures elsewhere in this (once) fine Country of ours.
  18. Issues seem to revolve mostly around parking, yet no one comments that the Long Ashton P&R sits a stones-throw from the Stadium and yet is ‘out of bounds’. May be if they came up with solutions rather than whinged. ..but then may be they think the decision-makers ought to be doing that as that’s what they’re paid for.
  19. Well done Man City, good for an English Club to win again just a pity about the ownership/finance issues that sours it somewhat for me. Thought Stones was a MoM candidate. Pep has transformed him from a liability into a more than capable performer on one of the World’s biggest football stages. That shows why he’s the world’s best manager. Thought Haaland was pretty anonymous though. Begin to wonder if top European defences might have sussed how to contain him. Also thought the Man City fans seemed pretty quiet for most of the night. Will be interesting to see what penalties will be imposed on any breaches they’re found guilty on.
  20. I think ‘The Fellowship’ was frequented by several City ‘fans’ back in the day. None to distant Southmead certainly had more than a red tinge in the 70’s. Infact, can remember, occasionally, on the old East End the chants of Southmead/Knowle West usually followed by Rangers/Celtic. Southmead weren’t outnumbered either. Horfield was pretty mixed too, with lots of City graffiti. It was pretty interesting living in ‘border country’ in those days with some quite surprising (to me at least) neighbourhood allegiances to red/blue. Can remember, to my cost, going into Redland which I assumed was solid City, but turned out as home ground to a bunch of Sags. Tended to tread carefully outside my patch after that somewhat uncomfortable experience! That said, knew some of the their ‘legends’ who resided in my neighbourhood, and was good friends with one of them and had more blue friends than red and still do, including best man and each others weddings.
  21. What’s going on with those ‘north of the river’ flags? Wasn’t ‘The Fellowship’ in Filton? Last time I checked, Pucklechurch, I’d swear was north of the City Centre. Puts paid somewhat to the great saggy myth of the Bristol divide. Much of North Bristol was in my time, and still is, ours. TBF, I’d give them their Lockleaze and Eastville enclaves though.
  22. I don’t care whether it’s pink with orange spots, as long as it hasn’t got that ******* big Splattered Robin on the front. Makes me cringe whenever I see it. Those players, coaches, staff wearing the stuff must be truly embarrassed. The Club would do well to remember it’s small percentages that make a difference in elite football. Wearing a clowns outfit ain’t doing us any favours. Downsize it to a small motif, preferably on the back, maybe, but that ‘in your face’ motif sizing is just woeful, and then some. When the national press pick up on it and describes Nige, in a mocking way, looking like some Harley-riding biker you know something is badly wrong.
  23. …and bring your own water.
  24. Think I’ve sussed it now. The stand will be two-tiered due to ground stability issues. The lower tier, the expensive tickets, subterranean viewing their ‘Championship ready’ sprinkler system. The upper tier, above ground, the cheap tickets with a view of a pillar, with ‘pillar and pitch glimpses’ for the lowest priced. That explanation would seem to fit nicely with their ‘pre-school child’ stand graphic and increased capacity claims.
