  1. I know you say it in jest but you must admit there is a strong correlation between the scatter gun approach here and the scatter gun approach at Ipswich. Meanwhile LJ is 2 for 2 on league 1 teams he has been in charge of, got sacked and them getting promoted in the same season (which must wind him up ?). It's well known that Webster was LJ's agreement when selling Flint - that was who he wanted. He had an existing relationship with Brownhill from his time at Barnsley and made him a priority signing when he arrived, Reid was moved up from by LJ so he can take some credit for that. Sure he had a large say about the others that came in but I'm not convinced he had the "final say" as he said, whoever hold the purse strings ultimately has the final say and that's SL/JL with MA managing and sitting between them. Don't get me wrong though, his departure was about 3/6 months too late IMHO.
  2. Sorry that was a thinly veiled swipe at Micky Maiynerd.
  3. I still think he is a good coach (which is what we employed him as), not a good manager. I'm convinced now that having MA here as his leadership and direction setter was what went wrong. I wouldn't mind him back here (not yet) as long as NP or equal character was his manager. He is the sort that can get and extra 5% out of everyone if he works hard, NP gets people to take responsibility for getting 5% out of themselves - between them they would either complement each other quiet well if LJ toed the line or it would completely fall to pieces with divergent philosophies.
  4. I was thinking, how do players get injuries this time of year other than dropping BBQs on the there feet?
  5. It's pocket change for apple and they to try it out on a large population before having to compete with Amazon for the prem. The big boys are coming and they make companies like BT or sky look like a Tesco local.
  6. The subtext of what he is saying is the franchise model - a club should represent an owner and be moved wherever a local community is able to afford it and then it will will do community work where it is. if I was an Ipswich fan I would be incredibly concerned by this video.

Well yeah, I watched all the games but at no point did I have a great feeling of enjoyment watching them, it was more of an excuse to go to the pub and see some friends. I found myself not really caring if they win or lose, when they lost the final I wasn't disappointed, just walked out of the pub and went home no anger, frustration, disappointment more a feeling like the end season of GoT that wasn't as good as the rest of the seasons - it's just a TV program and not a particularly good one (England not GoT). Compare that to my feelings for City and its night and day - city competes with my kids for love and enjoyment, there probably isn't a day in the last 30 years I haven't thought about city in some way. I went to Wembley a few years ago to watch a game and no one seemed to openly enjoy it, there must have been 20 people in the whole stadium that were singing - most people treated it like a trip to the cinema, turned up bought there half and half scarf popcorn and a drink, watched the game in complete silence and then walked out, most didn't even cheer or even stand up when England scored. There was no passion or vibrancy to it, I thought going to a game would get me more into it but if anything in cemented my feelings.
  8. Im sure you're right but as Ipswich are now using it I assume it "came from the top". I used to think most of the issue in the LJ/MA were with LJ but since they have gone to 2 separate clubs I am more and more convinced that it was 90% MA and LJ was just toeing the line.

I can get behind Scott because he is a city player but I have struggled with getting behind England and England players since about 2000 which is a shame really as I feel like I should be more interested.
  10. I'm sure I saw us use that slogan while he was here - probably goes some way to explaining our injury record when he was here.
  11. Looks like he's had a hard life for 31!
  12. I think the outcome of that is that it's now called Staines upon Thames.
  13. I really don't think there is an agenda, just ignorance.
  14. You know full well there is a businessman somewhere talking about lowering the barrier to entry. The thing a business degree won't tell you is that for a club like ours there isn't a massive queue of additional people wanting to go but can't - it's about keeping the support we do have and encouraging younger fans (young people don't need encouraging to watch Liverpool, there mates are already talking about that). It's the barrier to exit that concerns me - RobinsTV makes it much easier to quit or give up like you say, like a Netflix subscription! A season tick for attendance and season ticket to watch on TV are psychologically two completely different things e.g. no one has ever made a friend by watching a game on TV sat at home.
  15. I really fear for attendances, you can see it on night games when the red button is available there must be at least 5k that don't turn up. I really like the atmosphere and social side of football and I only have to travel an hour to get to AG, but as someone who already travels to Nordistan to watch RobinsTV I have pretty much given up on weekday games and away games in favour of RobinsTV mainly because no one else that I know goes on a weekdays and as I said the attendances and atmosphere is already down. My fear then from watching through COVID is that it's pretty easy to turn it off if we're shit and if we're shit for a season then people will quickly lose the habit and connection with the club.
  16. They're all a bit rubbish aren't they. Maybe a group of Robins as that is a "round" apparently.
  17. What's the name for a young robin, obvious name for the junior reds isn't it?
  18. Is that when we bought origami?
  19. Somewhere between 30 and 35 years, I can't remember going before 92 but family tell me I was going in 87. Had a season ticket from at least 94 until now.
  20. Great picture and I used to love being in the EE for the atmosphere but the rest of the stadiums atmosphere died as soon as the club opened the EE to home fans again. Obviously the facilities were worse than bad but that's not really why I go to football.
  21. To complete the circle - caused by his appointments.
  22. Happy about this, I can see people must be outgoing for money and we still need to get rid of the dead wood.
