Heading to watch Taunton hopefully win the league. -
I really don't like it, look at how many empty seats we have as soon as a game is on the red button on a night game. Another move to make football a TV show. COVID/RobinsTV taught me something as well, I kind of got a feel for what the glory supporting armchair fan goes through e.g. if you've got nothing invested (travel, friends ect) then if it's not good you can just walk away really easily but you can also just watch a game/team that's better, if football is on TV why would you watch a team that's not playing good football.

It depends what everyone else is willing to pay. Anything more than £3m and I can see HNM going, Scott and Semenyo are more like £15m +. That's not a reflection of ability just the contract lengths. I could easily see someone like Everton getting relegated, panicking and taking Semenyo for £15m.

I don't know, I'm not close enough to it and that's the problem, but that's why a non exec board exists - to hold the executive to account. We don't know that the reason his reputation in cricket was good because he had a good team around him. The problem with C level executives is you don't realise the positives or negatives for about 5 years and they usually move on every 4 years!

If they learn how to defend they could stay up, they've definitely got enough up front.

Why not hire a supporter who knows the business of football inside and out and has contacts at the very top of football? His job was to maximise profits for the member clubs of the prem, he was wildly successful at that.

Hopefully asks a lot of questions about what Gould is doing and hopefully is trying to figure out if what Gould is doing is in the best long term interests of the club, you know like he did with Ashton.

“This town ain’t big enough for the both of us…”

It was a pretty good game wasn't it, plenty happening all the time and Taunton look high on confidence. I've certainly enjoyed watching Taunton more this season than City. Anyone know if there is a ground standard for stepping up to that level? I'm not sure when you have to have segregation or changing rooms in anything but the corner of the ground that everyone enters and leaves from. -
I guess the logical question is why can't they do that without being captain?

I disagree that the reason we're a laughing stock is equally the team/management/ownership and the media team clearly miswritting about the next home game v the next game.

Very low bar -
Probably more to do with being shit!

He's alright as a unplayed sub, that's as close as he should get to playing a championship game. Sell him to Plymouth, he was good for them.
-
But it's always very gentle, it's not like he's on sounds of the city and they have an hour to unpack everything he says.

While I agree it's not investigative journalism it's a mouth piece.

I think he would be a good coach working under a manager like NP, NP would manage him and cut out most of his bullshit but we would also get the benefits of his efforts. Would be interesting how he coached players that weren't so weak minded.
-
Far too passive these days.
-
NP strikes me as a realist and solution oriented. If you tell him there's no money and can show him he will get that but also ask question about getting rid of costs - especially ones he's not in control of. I'm imagining it's more likely something like the upper management not dealing with cutting costs quickly enough and not doing the dirty work of firing people hoping that they either leave or contracts run down that he's having a pop at which then limits him elsewhere.
-
But if it's the Lansdowns passiveness or lack dynamism that's our problem then what's the point. Nothing is ever going to change ever.
-
Well if he isn't getting the support he needs and is being fobbed off in favour of maintaining the current status quo by the upper management then we have bigger problems because no one is going to be able to fix us.
-
It sounded like an upwards swipe to me like the passiveness came from the top. It was "the club" not the team or the squad. It was pretty much that, made my jaw drop.
-
His comments on radio Bristol about it being "an odd club" and "a passive club" rang true with me. Not just the players the club - sounded like an upwards swipe more than anything else but a poke at the players at the same time.

It's pretty normal to have a football team and a stadium separate but report into a holding company and that holding company is essentially the football club (combination of stadium and team) from an assets perspective. The holding company could be seen as an umbrella company if you see the thing called Bristol City FC as the club (which sounds sensible) but that's where is nuanced. I don't believe Bristol City FC is actually used for reporting though and is more a basket (case) of assets for the holding company.
