  1. Yeah some fans seem to want him to come out every time we've lost a few on the trot and say we're either going to buy the best 3 players in the world and **** FFP we don't need to worry about that or that he accepts all blame for losing a few in a row and is giving up his position. I would prefer it if we heard from him once a year to talk about the benefits he/the board sees in the CEOs strategy. Anything more than that and he is either encroaching on the CEOs job or the managers job and that causes confusion.
  2. Think of him as figurehead. It's a bit like the queen and government relationship with the JL being the queen (don't go there, your better than that) and CEO being the prime minister - you hear from the prime minister regularly about the direction of the country and policies, you hear from the queen once a year to reflect on how the year has been.
  3. Interesting watch, I do wonder WTF is going on. I've certainly seen more trouble this year than in the previous 10 put together (ok that includes COVID), at the home game I've even seen a group of Fulham fans try and kick off this season - Fulham WTF! Not trying to excuse it, just understand it - I did wonder if this was an effect of COVID restrictions, 2 years of not issuing banning orders, mental problems from being locked up in the early teens when forming personality, money available because there has been 2 years of not spending it, nothing else to do that's enjoyable.
  4. How him and COD are expected to be first team championship players shows the weakness we have.

I think the interesting thing about this would be to see what would have happened if they hadn't had success or just those individual players, obviously impossible. If they hadn't and looking at other teams from similar sized towns then would you say they would be tier 3/4 mainstays. Also if we had had that success where would we be? Arguably bigger than your Wolves or Newcastle's, maybe up there with teams like Villa. I guess we could also have had less relative success and be like Rovers though I guess?. I guess that's your point isn't it, we don't have the history so don't carry the same amount of country wide support relative to the size of the local population - I don't think anyone can argue with that.

I think you might be overplaying how ingrained the support gets. They've played recent games where the whole attendance was lower than what they just took away as a big day out e.g. Burton 3766, Cheltenham 4736, Accrington 2600. Don't get me wrong they have a great history and I have a lot of respect for that history but it is history and this was there big day out. We shouldn't try and paint it as anything else IMHO.

It's the same as teams like Leeds and Notts Forest. They must have interesting demographics with loads of fans all over the country that are 50 and older and then the numbers must fall quite dramatically in the 40's and below ranges.
  8. I did wonder if he was going to be able to do it at this level, he seemed to be able to look premier League quality with one touch and then non league with his next touch all while not scoring. He's added scoring and the confidence he has gained from that seems to have steadied his nerves and now it's only about 1 in 10 ten touches that seem to evade him - a massive improvement. Well done Semenyo, well deserved.
  9. Isn't that the best thing about Ian - he is funny if you look at it from a certain perspective. It's like a deep irony.
  10. @headhunter after giving you a bit of stick for the Blackpool episode I think that was probably one of your best. I though you controlled the group well and kept the conversation nicely on track.
  11. Little bit of sick in my mouth remembering that he played for Cardiff.
  12. We're not a good side but that's considerably better than where we were a year ago and for the following 6 months which was about as piss poor as I can remember. Piss poor and looking like certain relegation fodder to not good in 6 months, I will take that. I don't actually think this teams ceiling is that much higher than it is right now, we need at least 6 top quality championship players the be challenging for the playoffs and that isn't going to happen next 2 season IMHO.
  13. None of us know the effect he has had on the squad, he was bought to help turn around the mentality of the squad more than anything else if I remember rightly. Maybe we can judge him on the positives of us not getting relegated which was almost a certainty when he came in? Or is that too easy going on him?
  14. Sorry, that was supposed to be an open comment and not a sly dig and not directly at you (but ironically at people like Ian), from my perspective you cleared up that you don't completely agree with Ian yesterday after and that's that. In context I can see how that's come across though so apologies.
  15. Do you know that Cundy is ready for the Championship? What happens if he plays against Reading gets completely overwhelmed in a game we really could do with winning and should be winning. Is that going to be another opportunity to say Pearson isn't up to it? Then the following game and he changes it back are we going to say that inconsistent performances are down to Pearson changing the side constantly? I would keep Kalas in the middle, we're not strong enough in any area of defense lose Kalas and he is arguably more effective in the middle. If I was Reading and saw Kalas was playing on the right I would just target the left. The other thing is - is Kalas able to play a right wing back or at least get up and down the flanks like we need? I assume when he played for Fulham and Boro it was as part of more of a flat back 4. I have seen him probably play the best cross I have seen us do in 3 seasons this season but not sure if he is built to get up and down the wings like we would need him to.
  16. Its not too much of a jump though, "we say it as it is", "that's how I see it", "I agree with you 100%" basically all mean the same thing it's just the context that changes. Geoff gives him some time, Ian talks some sense and is bearable in such a short format. You're in long format which should give you the ability to challenge some of his opinions but (and please take this as constructive criticism) I think you're wrapped up in your own opinion and when that aligns to Ian's you lack the ability to think about the other opinions. Don't get me wrong I quiet like Ian (and you), I find him funny and his opinions are interesting to me but when it's so unbalanced and so unchallenged I can see why people think it's a negative podcast.
  17. You did agree with him though didn't you? Straight after that comment you said "we tell it as it is!". The problem is that that isn't telling it as it is that's just an opinion based on a knee jerk reaction.
  18. No way near £8m now but was when we signed him it’s just the world has moved on. We sold Flint for similar and Kalas is and was better than him when defending. I think the last few seasons he has carried our defence. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that he is carrying a few niggles by the way he walks once a game is finished, I’ve noticed a few times he covers it up in games but an as soon as it finishes looks like he is hobbling a lot.
  19. I was thinking something similar but miss out the middle bit (or start of your). he’s made of red he’s made of white he knows the gas are ****ing shite hes made of you, he’s made of me CITY Yada, yada, yada, yada, ah, ah, ah, ah Yada, yada, yada, yada, ah, ah, ah, ah Antoine Semenyoooooo…..
  20. I thought this was a good explanation that somewhat aligns except the money flows the other way!
  21. I heard that people in Adelaide list "doing the vacuuming" as a top 5 activity. Number 2 was going grocery shopping I think.
  22. Nicely bumped so everyone can see your mobile again ?. Did you get back in time?
  23. No, they do a bit of financial wriggling, dip into some credit and the fans pay for that for the next 20 years.
  24. How do you define club is that the owner to you? How do you think the club would pay for it? When you say "from their own pockets" I think that is the fans. Not that I agree with the way they have done it but I don't understand what other revenue stream you think the club has and controls to cover the costs?
  25. Did they identify and arrest them? Sorry I lost what was going on a few pages ago and just trying to catch up.
