I Don't see what the problem is.

INEOS are now in charge of a huge club which has under performed since SAF retired.

Pundits, ex players and fans have been saying it is "rotten too the core".

INEOS have obviously seen a alot of things they don't like about the club and are making changes, nothing wrong with that.

For what its worth - I have worked from home since Covid and I believe its far more productive to be in an office environment with the team than sat at home.

I think it depends a lot on what your role is.
I personally don’t see the point in driving into an office to sit with strangers and dial into meetings like I would at home.
    It’s just SILLY.

Office working is optional but I make an effort to go in twice a week if I can, although we have a desk booking policy which is a pain in the backside at times trying to get desks together as a team.  The bosses treat us like adults and as long as we don't take the piss they are happy to let us work where we like.

    It’s similar with us.
The bosses are just as annoyed about it as the rest of us. However, we are now clocked in and out, and a monthly attendance report is sent to the line managers. They are expected to use this against your annual review and if you haven’t done enough office attendance it will affect your annual appraisal - regardless of your productivity.

According to the seniors in the company I contract at, they want people in so you can chat to people in other teams…about something you’ve no interest in!

Ours mentioned something about ‘being together as a team’ - but the desk booking system means you’re going to be sat with a bunch of strangers all with their headsets on dialled into Teams meetings - which you could have done from home, without polluting the environment by driving to an office.

I personally don’t have a problem popping into the office from time to time - which I have been doing. I don’t like being TOLD to do it - and held to account for NOT doing it.
I will do it as and when I want to.

Why? There are a number of productivity studies post COVID that show employees working at home to be more efficient and productive.

The whole make them work in the office because loads of other people do is just another front in the endlessly boring culture wars.

The company I work for has recently forced staff back into the office for 2 days per week.
All sorts of corporate waffle was given as the reason, but basically the CEO doesn’t like people working ‘out of sight’. Productivity doesn’t come into it. It’s the old 1980s management ‘if I can’t see you then you’re not working’ mindset.
God forbid you might load the dishwasher or nip out for a pint of milk between meetings.
Some people say ‘well, it’s just back to how it was years ago’ - true - and women weren’t allowed to vote years ago too.
The workplace has evolved. It’s PROGRESS. This ‘back to the office’ thing is trying to artificially cling to an outdated working practice.

  5. I don’t really care who wins this but at a push I would probably choose Southampton - because I’ve met a few self-entitled and arrogant Leeds fans in my time but the only Saints fans I’ve met have been nice.
Also - we beat Southampton but always lose out to Leeds.

  6. Thanks for posting this.
Like most people on here I was shocked and disappointed when he was sacked.
Nice touch asking us to get behind Manning.
I wish him (Nige) well - and I DO support Liam and this is no way a criticism of him. I just don’t like the manner of his appointment - like I didn’t like the manner of Deano’s either.

What we have seen as a trend over recent years as each tv deal get renegotiated is less non-PP clubs getting promoted, and more coming back down.

    image.png.e8f09e489d2ac3f27ae78906bfa12708.png

Since the 2015/16 season, the last of the old / lower PP, which was just over half of the current PP deal, and even more since 2020/21 when it went up a bit more, the number of clubs flip-flopping in and out of the PL has increased.

Top 3 rows - promoted teams (dark green, straight back up, light green promoted with PPs)

Bottom 3 rows - relegated teams (pink, straight down)

Absolutely - and I was NOT trying to say the current arrangement is all sweetness and light.
There is also a similar thing happening between L1 and the Championship - with Rotherham and Peterborough in particular flip flopping up and down.
The gulf between the leagues is becoming bigger each season.

I posted mainly on the old BBC 606 forum and when that was disabled I joined JA606 (same format as the old BBC site) and Not606.
I came over to OTIB because some of my mates have been on here for years and persuaded me. I class myself as an ‘occasional’ poster on here, but I read the forum several times per day.
I mainly post on Not606 where there is a smaller community but many of them (like me) post on both.
I rarely visit JA606 these days - there are only a handful of us City fans on there - but it’s quite a good platform to check out the opposition views - several of our rivals have a presence there.

I really like this forum particularly for the match day thread - a lot of work and research goes into creating those.

Straight up straight down just adds to the farce of the PL.

To be fair RR, this is only the second time in the history of the Premiership that all 3 promoted sides came straight back down.
The last (and only other) time was way back in 1998.

  10. Translation from BEIN :

Ligue 2: Heroic Diony, Angers is almost in Ligue 1!

    10/05/2024 - 22:04

Crazy match between Angers and Annecy that finally saw the SCO win at the very end of the game thanks to a goal by Loïs Diony (1-2). With this success, the Angevins steal second place in Saint-Étienne one day from the end of the championship and have one foot in Ligue 1.

It was more the quote about European football that made me cringe.

    (Summer training in Malaga…..!🤣 )

    This quote made me cringe...

Bristol City, a club that publicly announced their ambitions to bring European football to the recently re-developed Ashton Gate, have only finished in the top half of the Championship once in the last 10 years, while simultaneously rarely coming in any danger of relegation

I may be different to many on here, but having watched City since the 1970s - with most of it taking place in the 3rd tier - mid-table ‘stable’ championship isn’t too bad.
Of course I want promotion, but mid table Championship comfort is better for me than the ‘excitement’ (ahem) of a relegation battle or competing in the JPT (or whatever it’s called now).

  13. I’m pleased with the unbeaten run - although we rode our luck in the Huddersfield game.
I wouldn’t call it ‘green shoots’ though. We’ve ended the season around mid table ever since LJ left.
It’s the same old issue for me; one minute we play really well (Watford, Southampton, Leicester, Blackburn etc) then we play terribly (Stoke, Sheffield W, Huddersfield…)

When we play well we look really good and I have to admit I found those performances really exciting and entertaining - the sort of performance I’d love to see - even when we don’t win, like vs Norwich on Saturday.
I can’t understand however, how a team can play so differently within a few days. It’s a mystery to me.
I probably sound like a broken record, but we need to fix our performances against the struggling sides and find consistency. If we can do that we can definitely make the playoffs (next season of course!!)
