It’s over 3 years since we lost a game by more than 4 goals, 6-0 v Watford.

A lot of very close games in those 3 years with just a few bad defeats , 6-2 v Fulham, 3-0 v Birmingham spring to mind.

No idea what’ll happen tonight but I’m obviously hoping for a win.

Didn’t we lose something like 6-0 at Portman Road in GJs Playoff Final season?

I seem to remember we played the home fixture very shortly afterwards -only a couple of weeks later - and won it 2-1(?) - a very bad tempered affair with loads of fouls.
I may be wrong - not using Google as I’m trying to keep my memory active in old age!!!

  2. I never want City to lose.

I would much rather LM recovered and our results and performances stabilised than we embark on a ‘new manager’ fiasco - weeks of limbo whilst potential candidates are interviewed - especially considering who would be in charge of selecting Liams replacement.

It’s ’better the devil you know’ for me - for now at least.

Or we just realise that anyway!

    Some of us do.
I agree with Major. Some of the abuse hurled at players (verbal and written) for a mid-placed pass or missing an open goal/penalty can be over the top. These are not much more than kids - very well paid yes (therein lies the problem IMHO because people see the salary not the person), but kids/young men nonetheless.
good luck to Ross - he seems to be through his illness and I wish him all the best.

  4. Saw a very brief interview on SSN - he said he has never won a cup in his managerial career. I find that surprising.
He is going all out for the cup games in particular.
Hardly any point in contesting Celtic and Rangers in the league - play the reserves against them!!!

But in this case VAR was rightly used to over turn a poor original decision?

    It seems so, yes.
My suggestion for VAR is that the referee can request it like in Rugby and Cricket.
If a player wants to ask for VAR when he believes a decision was wrong, he can request it, under the threat of a yellow card for time wasting if the original decision stands. He would need to be absolutely certain in order to request it.
I think that would stop a lot of cheating and diving - plus allow the game to flow.

Imagine getting violent with someone at a service station because they’re wearing another football teams colours 😂.

I can never get my head around it!

This is a genuine question, but does anyone on here get involved in football violence? Can you explain to me why you do it, I’m really intrigued.

No I don’t. I think it’s Neanderthal, tribal nonsense and brings the club and the game into serious disrepute.
However, if you’re attacked by a bunch of idiot opposition ‘fans’ then you’re involved - you have little choice but to fight or run. You won’t talk your way out of it and to the neutral and the press you will appear to be just as guilty.

  7. I thought Pring did ok. Overall I thought we played really well. It never looked like we were a division below Forest. In fact, they looked pretty ordinary.
The lack of goals is the elephant in the room though.
I thought that yesterdays game was as if both the goals had been removed from the pitch!!!

I always had a soft spot for Peter Beadle because I thought he brought the best out in players like Christian Roberts... but looking back his record really was pretty rubbish, wasn't it?!

That said, he played in the 5-4 at Mansfield and I'll always love that team.

He’s a VERY big lad now is mr Beadle!

  9. Got mine and Mrs R&Ws - plus our son and his GF - all in the upper Lansdown. The future daughter IL comes from a lineage of plastic Man Ure fans who only watch their team on Sky, so I’m hoping we put in a good shift and convert her into appreciating proper football!!

Anyone know if it’s free beer again this Friday?

Depends what they are singing, "stick your tractors up your arse" seemed to be the favourite of the evening. I would say that's slightly inflammatory.

There were similar chants coming from the East End corner of the South Stand involving bubbles.
I suppose those are less inflammatory because bubbles wouldn’t be as painful as tractors I suppose 😜

  11. I should have been in S26.
The stewards wouldn’t let me in - they said it was ‘too full’. They were right - there was no way I could have forced my way through without causing a fight, so I went back down and found a ‘club’ steward (wearing black) - he was brilliant and said he would find me a seat - or if he couldn’t then he’d let me into the Heineken Lounge.
After a few conversations on his radio with colleagues, he led me to the middle of S23 where there were 2 spare seats. Met up with the Mrs at half time for a (free) beer (she was in the Dolman) and then we watched the second half together from S23.
It got sorted in the end, but it should t have happened in the first place and I’m annoyed that I missed the goal.

Long shot but if anyone has a spare ticket for sale please PM me.
My wife and I are both members, but I found out today that both memberships are in MY name, which meant I could only buy one ticket. I was on the phone queue for 90 minutes and then cut off when it sold out.

If anyone finds they can’t make it then I’d be really grateful if you could bear me in mind.

Of course I’m aware there will be loads like me, so I’m not holding my breath - it’s a very long shot!!

I’m now sorted - thanks to a very kind poster on here.
    Game on!!!

I'm surprised it's sold out already do we honestly have that many members? And how many half season tickets have we sold! After yesterday that should have left around 9k of tickets and probs 1k segregation or am I being completely stupid.

I bought my one members ticket but was not allowed to buy the second members ticket (as explained above) - I was camped on the website and the phone queue waiting for 2pm hoping I’d be able to buy the wife’s ticket on general sale. At 2pm the website came unworkable slow and at about 2:05 the telephone queuing message came on telling me it had sold out and bumped me back to the initial menu.
At 2pm when they went on general sale there were only about 100 tickets left……….
