I think you’re being harsh on Mehmeti, I like that he wants to shoot when in those positions. Don’t forget that we scored following the keeper saving his initial effort.

    I agree.
I think in recent weeks Mehmeti has been our most influential player.
Of course, not everything he tries will come off, but that’s the life of a winger - you are tasked with being positive and trying to create/score.
He’s had a number of involvements in goals (not assists and goals but also in build up to chances and goals). He carries a threat running with the ball and allows us to get ‘up the field’.
He’s a threat. It won’t always come off, but when it’s does it’s great.
I’d much rather have a winger like him, who tries things but often fails, than a winger who doesn’t try anything and just checks back to the full back all the time.
I believe in Mehmeti. I’m sticking by him.

Preston are probably assisted by proximity to North West clubs. Liverpool played a friendly vs a German club at Deepdale on the opening weekend of the Football League. Anfield was unavailable, Preston were away.

Strongly suspect that relationship building m can help them with loans on decent terms. We are shit at cultivating ties it seems.

This is likely because the 2 people in charge of recruitment are both introverts and very much not ‘people persons’

Its hard to create relationships and networks when you aren’t very confident or comfortable dealing with people.

He doesn't understand, he doesn't care.

He's also not very good at fashion design, and whilst I'm always reluctant to get personal, let's be honest - it's hardly a surprise given the way he dresses. I mean he wears some truly awful items of clothing, most recently at the Liam Manning arrival presser.

    I mean WTF.

When I was at school (many years ago now), we had a name for this.

    Bufty.

The bufty kid was the one who was unfashionable, the one who wore the bog standard brown shoes, trousers too high and his nan’s knitted brown jumper, with generally unkempt hair.

JL is basically the bufty kid from school. The one who had the least sense of fashion in the whole school. And now he’s in charge of his own fashion design agency. 🤣🤣

I don’t think Fever Pitch are an actual company. I think they are essentially a department within Bristol Sport, made to look like it’s our agency to make Jon feel better about himself.

I do wonder who is actually making this product, would it still be O’Neils?

    Correct.
Fever Pitch are not an actual company. They are not registered on Companies House.
People with more business nous than me may be able to tell me how this works:

If Fever Pitch are just an in-house agency, doing media/design work for Bristol Sport, then presumably the people who work for Fever Pitch are actually paid and employed by Bristol Sport?
If not, the who are they employed by?

But, Fever Pitch seem to also be doing a bit of work outside of Bristol Sport. So the work they are doing for others, how are they getting paid? Are the recipient of the work paying Fever Pitch (which doesn’t exist as a company) or are they paying Bristol Sport?
How is the money for their work being received and under which company is this being logged with HMRC.

Unrelated but they've created their site using Squarespace. A design agency building their own site with Squarespace is like someone claiming to be a gourmet chef but only knows how to microwave ready meals. Despite presenting themselves as experts in a craft that typically demands creativity and custom solutions, their choice of a drag-and-drop website creator suggests they might not possess the depth of skill or creativity they advertise.

    Surely not!
I mean, they had a very inspirational meeting in Botswana to create a new website and branding.
Surely it can’t have ended with “let’s use a cheapo website creator and stick up a picture of a flamengo with some triangles on it?

For me, and of course I’ve now made my mind up, so some bias - he’s holding these players back.  When they play to his game plan we are dog-shit, when we let them do what they’re good at, we are a reasonable outfit.

Maybe this is the problem that the players need to solve themselves.
“hey lads, this is shit. Let’s just play our own way”.

At least they’d then be “doing us”.

    Post match :

Liam “hey Zak. Why did you switch to a back 4?”

Zak “just solving problems and ‘doing us’ boss”

Jeez, what a difference in communication (Amy, not Jon) to Tinnion or anyone else at the club.

Why was she not kept on? She’s done some really good work with young people since leaving City.

Yep. As Amy says in that short video, the key to success was employing the best people for the job.
That’s the main thing we’ve come a long way from.

  9. Credit must be given to Sean O’Driscoll and Amy Kington for getting the Cat 2 status in the first place. That was the foundation of what we see now.
Amy led the whole project for the initial Cat 2 application and audit. SOD (although much maligned) helped massively with this too with significant input.
Amy’s comments in the video below tell you exactly how we got to where we are today. The work put into this 11-12 years ago is what we are seeing the fruition of now.
Yes, Tinnion then later became responsible for the pathway between 18’s and 21’s to the first team, but the foundation was very much credited to Amy and her team (with the help of SOD too)

apologies for Jonboy on the vid too!!

  10. City also played Swindon on 15/02/1995 when England were away to Rep of Ireland.
The game where the infamous trouble occurred.
We were away to Swindon same night. Me and 2 mates somehow managed to sneak ourselves into the County Arms which was full of Swindon. We told the bouncer we were from Marlborough and he believed us and let us in.
We got quite a lot of looks as many locals clearly didn’t recognise us but the events unfolding on the TV screens took everyone’s attention.

Harry of course kept making digs that we were now "well coached" which is exactly what I am on about.

When you say “kept making digs” you do of course mean “I said it once - after Watford away”. And I explained why.

Nah you're just saying that to save face whilst still willing to die on the hill for your man.

He is however to blame for Conway not scoring and not being provided with chances which is what this whole conversation is about.

Tommy Conway won't be going to the Euros and that's down to your man Liam Manning.

He’s not “my man” and I no longer want him here. No hills. No dying.

Perhaps Conway might make more of an effort to anticipate and get into better scoring positions.
