  1. I know I went to one U23's game, early 70s and Garland was rumoured to be playing. He didn't and it was a dull 0-0, This site be of interest. http://www.englandfootballonline.com/matchrsl/MatchRslTmU23.html
  2. He is available nearly all the time and my biggest moan lately is that we haven't used him more often.
  3. Gone a bit early on this. He's a young kid that is in his break through season, he's played 20+ games in or around his natural position and I'm not sure he was expected to be the answer to any question. He has shown some great promise and shown he can finish when the chance arrives. Is he the finished article ? No, no where near . But someone that has his pace and can finish has a great chance.
  4. I take your point, but if I was a local seeing money going to a Club ran by multi Millionaires, and I had no interest in the Sport I think I would be questioning my Council tax.
  5. The population of Wrexham is about 130,000. Wrexham attendances around 10,000. There will be a lot of people struggling with Council Tax among other things that have no interest in Football, they would be rightly pissed off at funding the Football Club which is owned by a multi millionaire . Add in Reynolds made a reported £22m for Deadpool , I would be more than slightly miffed. If you were wondering, Rob McElhenney has a net worth of $50 million. Imagine if R*vers or us were given a massive input of Council money and not the other, that's how non football fans would feel.
  6. Everything depends on the shape we set up with next year. We've been 2 and 3 up front, but it did seem like the Conway/Wells partnership was the way forward and if we went back to that then a loan might work for Bell. He is still raw , but he's already a good finisher, great work ethic, positionally aware but a loan might help his next step, and knock the rough edges off. Unless something surprising happens, I don't see us signing another striker, we have more than enough cover and other positions are a priority. But if we start with Wells & Conway it might give Bell the chance to go out for more experience. The problem with those thoughts are, as I said earlier, I think we look better balanced with Bell playing that left side. Who'd be a Manager eh?
  7. I'm not talking lashing at a bouncing ball from 30 yards. We quite often lately, get controlled possession near the box, switch and move it. What I want to see is a more willingness to shoot. How many times have we seen a City player in a decent position, only to hesitate, then maybe pass or be closed out. If they were more willing and aware of shooting chances, they might be quicker when the opportunity comes. It's not just long shots, I'm talking no further than edge of the box really. I won't say buy a ticket (dammit) but IMO we don't get enough shots away when the chance appears .
  8. I want us to shoot from the edge of the box more. We seem to work space often enough , but always seem to move it wide. It took until the beginning of March to score a goal from outside the area, from a side that score from many crosses that's odd. I accept we probably score a reasonable percentage of our goals on the break or when the defence isn't set, but during a period when we are dominating a decent amount of possession, it seems criminal we don't try and make space for shots from 18 yards or so.
  9. I did wonder if people were waiting to move seats. My mate is moving with his boy to the singing section, while I guess a lot will be moving to Dolman A block, or whatever it's called now.
  10. Interesting reading through replies, I missed a large chunk of the 2nd half including the goal as my feed went down. I do think it's a bit optimistic to expect to dominate sides for 90 minutes, to try and do that against a side that will be in the Prem next year, near impossible. We could have done better , some of that I would level at Nige and his use and timing of Subs. Bell gets stick for his crossing, but for me the fact he's happy to go outside the FB makes him more of a threat than Mehmetti (and it's his first real run at this level) specially in games against good sides. Wells could have done with Conway along side him and as for Conway he looks far more happy central. Seeing as we were playing the only 4 fully fit defenders , I think we've done OK. We have lacked a little composure and quality around the area , but we have controlled the ball a lot better than we have for a long time. When you think that only 2 of the back 4 and 1 of the midfield would have started if we had a fit squad then we do show a lot of improvement. Still needs work, but with nothing riding on these games I'm still optimistic for next year.
  11. I saw that too, but I'm sure I heard Downsy say we had sold "almost 10,000" last night.
  12. I can only guess, but Pearson has repeatedly said he was in need of a "pre-season" after his long injury layoff. I can only think he hasn't made it to the level Parson wants him at, yet. Has made the bench a couple of times, think he had a run for the U21's but we know Nige likes to make sure they are ready.
  13. TBF when anyone has dropped below a level that Pearson has been happy with, or a player has previously achieved, he has mentioned it (I wont say moaned about it). This is just trying to make sure that players stay at that level. I don't think it would have been easy to make a positive impression last night, playing a promotion team that had a half time bolloxing and had got up a head of steam, that said I don't think it does any harm to want that.
  14. Not sure if it's calmness, composure ,decision making, ruthlessness or just a little bit of quality. We get in the positions, create opportunities make the runs but just don't get the last bit right.
  15. I use Wallet, because I've had to with Gig tickets and shows, Trainline keep my tickets and Rail Cards. I've had to download "Dice" as I'm going to a Damned signing at Rough Trade. Just what I want, another place for tickets on my Phone My phone locked it's self a while back, I lost everything since the previous back up. That's another reason I'f prefer a "real" ticket.
  16. But what if we had a full squad to pick from ? All injuries aside, that's decent. But considering how we have had to juggle the squad, it's better than that.
  17. We are a below average Championship side, with FFP worries and need 4,5 or even 6 players to make a squad for next season. I'd say to get someone that much better as to make a signing worthwhile isn't that straight forward or easy. Just looked and at 32, 50 games in 5 years and it looks like he would cost around £1million + . Doubt it
  18. One thing Nige has said is he will only sign players to improve the side, are better than we have. We have a solid Championship Keeper, IMO to sign an upgrade will cost. Bajic was deemed not first team ready but needed games, if that has changed then I agree, we can find back up. But people are talking of a Top 6 Championship Keeper being needed, we probably need 5/6 outfield players to make up a squad and IMO that means spending a big chunk of the budget on a GK is unlikely. Not out of the question as they will play cards close to their chest, but unlikely.
  19. To bring in another keeper, we have to sell Bajic, or Max. OLeary has 3 full years on his contract, unlikely to be going anywhere. A new goalkeeper would have to be a serious upgrade, so lower Prem or top Championship level . In our position, even with possible Scott money, highly unlikely we spend big on a keeper.
  20. Scott hasn't been out long so , as long as there's no reaction, I agree. Naismith has had a couple of runs so should be OK. Conway has been eased back in so might still be a little early, but should be close. Naismith at CB allows Pring to move over and the team is bigger, stronger and more aggressive . Scott makes us more front foot and add Sykes and we are more balanced. It gives us a chance.
  21. Really frustrating day, controlled a lot of the game without quite creating those clear openings. I thought Tanner was very good again, Bell did some great work but Nahki shaded it. Just annoying that we went back to making so many bad choices and decisions, trying ridiculous eye of a needle passes when we were in so much control we should have taken our time. I've not been impressed by Cornick so far, but when you hit bottom the only way is up. He must be due a break or two and that OG must having thinking he smashed a mirror or kicked a black cat. I see Max getting a lot of stick, which I think is harsh. It's amazing that now he's not here Bentley has improved as a keeper. The 2nd goal doesn't look great, but did Vyner get a touch on it ? Not sure it makes a difference as O'Leary has him diving at the ball so wont know where it's going until too late. Very hard to adjust so late. I think if Scott and Sykes started today, we could have got something out of it. I'd go back to a front 2 if Conway is fit to start, but I also think shape will be dictated by who is fit and who isn't. Overall a fairly good performance, just bad choices and a little sloppy at times. I saw some of the Sheff U Vs Cardiff game earlier, if we play like today with more composure and a little more cutting edge, we can get something up there and piss on their Parade. Which would be nice.
  22. I said on another thread, January felt like his first proper Window. Most of the housekeeping had been done and he made signings looking forward. Next season will feel properly like his squad, we shall see how that goes, but I'm quietly optimistic.
  23. I hope and expect, that given all the prep work done for recruitment, Nige gets a go and a new deal if he wants it. Then maybe have a look for the next guy to take us forward.
  24. When Fulham went up around 18/19, they were one of the best footballing sides I'd seen for ages. They then dismantled the squad completely and spent nearly £120million to get relegated. This year it was a less eye watering £70m (£48M net) . This year, according to Transfermarkt , Forest have spent £184M !!! Pick the FFP bones out of that . I think @Mr Popodopolous could be busy if they come down .
