  1. Up until now , I haven't been sure how I felt about Cott's. Stay/Go didn't lean either way. Sadly now, it's looking more and more like go ! No plan 'B' , stubbornness over formation/subs etc not to mention his admission that he can get no more out of them (as I've said before , resignation statement?). The position we're in, the need for new blood and it being the worst time to get players in I think we may as well give some time with any new blood, before pulling the trigger, but not too long. Drastic times call for drastic measures.
  2. Could have written the script to this, and saved me the pain of listening.
  3. Yep nothing was off limits, anything to offend really. Never thought about it at the time.
  4. Not surprised it was more, don't know where I got 96 from, just popped into my head. I remember we were up the open end that game for some reason.
  5. This is true ! This is also true ! If a thread either annoys or has no interest to me I tend not to post, but your opinions are as valid as anyone's. The history of the club IS on the pitch, however these stories are fans history. What I would say is, it happened, it does have interest to people who were there or have may have heard stories. The first home game I went on my own was Sunderland first game of the season(won 4-3), 1970 and I can tell you as a 10 year old it was mental . As was the same game the following year, needless to say I didn't get involved but man IT HAPPENED ! I remember a Cardiff home game with (at the time I think) a record number of arrests, 96 I seem to recall. My point is , it was at times very bad and yes if you wanted to you could avoid it (most of the time) but I really do believe it added to the atmosphere. The old div 1 games with large and 'game' away following spiced things up, why do you think there were several groups around the ground that all sang? That wouldn't happen in today's sanitised version of the game(yes there are exceptions). There was trouble, to different degrees, at a high percentage of games but it could completely pass you by if you weren't interested. On the other side, I always went in the East end near the middle and you never knew who was going to appear. As I said , my first game Vs Sunderland. They were on the Eastend when we got in there, I didn't understand what was happening and then the City lads arrived kicked them out and chased them to the open end, people coming on from the enclosures to help them on their way! And that was my introduction to City. I understand your point of view @richwwtk but it's a pointless argument, you didn't / don't like it others did , or at least find it interesting. It will be discussed again at some time as these things tend to pop up , one thing I will say. It's safer drinking in the town centre at away games now .
  6. Been at both ends of Eastville when they played Chelsea so I thought I'd do a search, interesting results.... From a Chelsea forum As a Bristol Rovers fan, one of my abiding memories of our original ground - Eastville, is seeing Chelsea almost totally clear the Tote End at a midweek match around 1976. One minute it was packed with Gasheads, next minute, they parted like the red sea, and Chelsea were standing in the centre of the terrace. I don't think I've ever seen the Tote clear that quickly, First reply In the 70s as well .. if my memory serves me well Rovers did better outside afterwards but still got run underneath the motorway .. Bristol city at ashton gate a much tougher job (my italics) I'll just leave thhis here, make of it what you will.
  7. Thing is how many more are around? How many of those would join a potential relegation fight? I hope you're right though.
  8. Not wanting to re-start the 'stats' thread but 56% possession and 7 shots to 3. We have to be more clinical .
  9. Sky sports reporter saying it was a great goal, I'll give FF the benefit until I see it.
  10. As a fully paid user of Google it took no time at all so you needn't worry about my time. You're right though I didn't see your post, the Pennie Smith image is brilliant. Shame I can't find the interview where she says she didn't really like it as it was blurry ! Wonder if she feels the same now, with prints going for about £4k. You know it's an iconic image when Micky Mouse copies it !!
  11. On a different note. Listening to Radio Bristol , the interviews were on. The Squatters manager's dismal moaning passed me by. SC was ok , we should have won the game apparently. But bloody hell how boring is Paul Sturrock, he has to be the dullist man in the world. If i had a bridge near me ( I'm at home so doubtful I know) I'd have thrown myself off. There rant over, and not about City
  12. Which ever way you look at it, Good point. Annoying to concede another 2 goals . Minus 8 GD in 9 games is poor and you don't have to have an FA badge to work out where the problems are. Great that Kodjia is scoring regularly, imagine what he could be like when he understands his team mates ! Now that's out of the way I really don't get SC acting like a petulant child with the bench, he's proving nothing and potentially making problems for himself/the team. Cutting his nose of to spite his face, as me dear old Mum used to say. I'm concerned, but not overly worried. We had a spell last year when we conceded 13 in 7, we tightened up and need to do the same soon. The team needs tweaking not wholesale changes . A win next week could start to put a different complexion on the season so far, mind you , lose and some peoples heads will explode on here.
  13. Can't be bothered to trawl through the thread, where is the City game? All I can find is the squatters and Yeovil
  14. Nice to hear this sort of thing, few popping up on Twitter. Jack Garratt ?@JackGarratt95 32m32 minutes ago Just a word on Bristol City. Thought they were quality & their fans were brilliant. Especially the reception they gave Albert. Will do well
  15. 64% possession to Leeds 36. 18 shots to 7 11 on target to 3 8 corners to 3 kinda says otherwise. Dominated the first half and should have been free and clear by half time. 2 mistakes (the 2nd one was either the ref or Hamer) for the first goal. The game onlychanged after the second goal, to be fair Leeds looked to have us sussed. Broke really quickly with numbers and looked dangerous. The attacking centre halves need to be reined in, there was 30 yards between them regularly, ton of space for Leeds to break into. When teams build against us they look ok, but on the break we look all at sea. The long diagonal ball was over used, massively . must have been told to do it but the full back had it covered easily. Kodjia looks promising, even allowing for the bad miss, needs to get used to the team and vice versa. He was looking for the ball behind the defence , that never came. Stupid statement warning..... If you ignore the results , I think we look pretty good. Certainly nothing to worry about. IF and that's a big if, Gray signs he could have a field day. EDIT: Just watched the goals and I can't see how SC says Hammer didn't touch the lad. He may not have done but not clear from the footage. So Hamer's mistake.
  16. I never read it, well, hardly ever. But it gives me a warm comforting glow of security knowing you and your thread are still here should I need it.
