  1. I'm not really worried about results ATM , I wanted to see us put in a performance against one of the "poorer" sides in this division. We seem to go missing against these sides. I was annoyed with the team , I really thought we were past changing 5 positions to allow one change of player. There was no pressure on us but rather than relaxing and playing football, we relaxed and let them run the game. That form table is nice to see, but doesn't show how we played. It's not been great through that run, the odd game yeah and we rode our luck in games, but I want to see improvement too . Anyway , onwards and upwards. I might not watch Saturday and we will be brilliant .
  2. We heard some very interesting stories some years ago, we used to play golf with some players several years ago . Not complimentary about BT and he sounds like he is very self serving and not the Club man he likes to appear. While he was with the Academy , bringing through players made him look good. Now his role has changed you could argue, new signings would shine a positive light on him. As you the summer , and going forward , may be very telling.
  3. Poorly put by me, see my explanation above. May make more sense , possibly.
  4. I thought I'd get pulled up on that as I typed it. What I meant , and this is coming from someone who only played at a shite level , when you dive into challenges your arms come out naturally . You never put them out other than to give you balance. Now for the new VAR years they tend to think if the arm is out it is un natural when it comes to Penalties. So what I meant , and put it really badly , for me the guys arms are in a natural position as they go where they go in thoase circumstances. Then , as the arms are away from the body and they arm stops a cross it's going to be given as handball quite often. The ball was prevented from going into the box and possibly creating a chance , that's what I meant by him gaining an advantage . I wasn't referring to the advantage rule . Not sure I've explained myself much better now.
  5. As for a video clip this is as good as I can get it. I think it shows Ref had a good view. As for complaints, this is the guy who gave away the Pen, hardly going mad. The usual complaints to the Ref that you would see , even with the most blatant Pen. But not really going mad at a bad decision.
  6. I don't watch loads but I like the option to watch . That said I think next year (year after?) when we start playing games at stupid times I will change my mind and wish there were less games and all played at 3pm on a Saturday.
  7. This is a snapshot of the incident . Is this the split second the ball hit hand or a fraction of a second after when the hand has moved after being hit ? I'd say she had a decent view. Clear view of the arm out . Now I'd say a natural position for trying to block, but that changes when it stops the cross as he has gained an advantage. Cross on it's way and you can clearly see raised arm. Still able to see his arm after the ball has hit it. I can't download this to slow mo it , I'll try and find it somewhere I can but I'm not hopeful.
  8. I think you might be waiting in vain
  9. I think a lot also depends on how the Club is set up and ran , possibly more so than the title. Chelsea have had top quality, high profile coaches. But they have all had the players forced on them it seems. Spending about a Billion pounds without buying a striker is madness , but out of the hands of the Coach. We have a DoF ( or technical director) and a recruitment department. Coach has final say and will say what sort of player they want initially . Pearson possibly had more say as I believe he had a hand in rejigging the backroom staff , but from what I've read he was happy with the Analyst / recruitment Dept. We did lose some scouts, not sure we have many eye on scouts now. Mervin Day left as Euro Scout and we lost another to Birmingham. I would think it would would work in a similar way with Manning. He would say what sort of player he wants and the Analyst / recruitment Dept lines up a list for him to choose from. I found an old interview with head of Technical Recruitment , Sean Gilhespy. Recruitment meetings and what Nige wants "It starts with Nige," says Gilhespy. The recruitment team works to find players that Nigel Pearson wants, focusing on what a player can bring to the team rather than what they can't do.. "He sets the criteria for what he wants: positionally, at what point he wants certain players. He's really well planned in what he wants to do, and it's so underrated the clarity of the message that comes into us, it's important, because if it's not quite right or it waivers then you get further away from what's needed as the filtering develops. "It's all part of a plan over a few windows where we can get to a place where he's got what he wants." The team narrows down searches based on what he wants. Certain characteristics are prioritised. The club's ideas and strategies must be factored in too. "When he [Pearson] first came in just a few days in, we sat down and he wanted to see how we worked and what we were looking at and how we present certain things and some of the certain tools we use," says Gilhespy. "He liked what he saw and was happy and said go get on with it really. He's very good for letting you work in your area and to show your expertise in that area." So unless Tins in his new role imposes his ideas on things , I think Manning would get who he wants to fit his ideas.
  10. The clock thing is interesting. There was talk of playing 60 minutes with the clock stopping for everything so you got a genuine 60 minutes play. When I realised the average time the ball was in play was 55 minutes, it seemed a good idea. Not sure what happened to that idea. Having the trainer coming on is good in theory, but you just know that teams soon find a way of stopping play. Flicking the ball against, or near the trainer as he sees to the injury.
  11. As a young kid playing for a mens team I think would do him good, whatever the style. Just the regular involvement and being in a different environment , being tested while still being able to train with City I think will help him grow. The style of football may not be the best, but he will hopefully learning and growing all the time, good experience for a young lad.
  12. Funny you should post that, I was thinking back to Bobby Reid and the difference his private training made to him. It would be great for SPH to earn the first team squad for next year.
  13. OP ? Formal Yeah , I don't consider even Bell Academy at this point. Just thinking non first team youngsters. I've had this conversation a couple of times. Because we have been so good , you are bound to have a dip. Another thing is this U18 Cup focus means those youngsters haven't played up a level which has happened regularly for years. I would have liked to see at least JKL get some proper time . Nelson & Meerholz have been on the bench without really looking like getting on , Backwell too . Even Mebude , can you really make a call without giving him a chance of at least a half of football ? Possibly , but as he's here, and he was the Managers pick , why not give him a run . I imagine the core of U18s will make up a big part of the U21s next year, to allow for new ones coming in or stepping up.
  14. Didn't he say he was close for Blackburn, but it might be a little too early ? I expected him to be at least on the bench yesterday. I didn't even know Vyner was out until I saw the team sheet yesterday.
  15. I don't have a problem with Manning going with the senior players while we were going through a dodgy spell, but we were safe yesterday and the starting XI annoyed me. Instead of giving Knight-Lebel a start he moved what seemed like half the team around. Sykes hasn't shone at WB and Knight has been better in CMF. It got me thinking about the pathway and the continuation of progressing young players that Tinnion alluded to when LM came in. For one Mebude is looking like a Pathway blocker, but ok , if Manning thought we could grab a gem cheap I'll pass on that one , but how much time has been given to youth this season? We have managed to sign some good young players on reputation , but how long will that continue? I have had a quick look , and I will apologise and hold my hands up if I've missed some minutes. I think it breaks down like this . Under Pearson something like 240 minutes for academy players in 14 games. And yes some of those were forced on him , Cardiff away being a peak time gave us 113 of those minutes . Flemmings one game gave us 0 . The last 28 games have given 26 minutes for the Academy players. Blackburn 21 minutes for Yeboah and against Blackburn in a game that was over , 5 for Knight-Lebel. I worry that Manning is shaping up like LJ, would rather change most of the team instead of making one change with a youngster. Tinnion has to take some blame, excluding some for the U18 FA Cup (then not even giving them the best chance by going up the night before, thats another moan) . This should be the perfect time to blood players, they could be needed next year and a few runs this year could help the transition to the first team. I hope I'm wrong , but it doesn't look great for the young kids ATM.
  16. I've watched it several times and have come to the decision , Pen . We don't usually appeal that hard , ok late in a game chasing an equaliser may cause that. The guy hardly moans , always a give away . His arm is raised , naturally maybe , but his arm blocks the cross and the Ref has a decent view. Undeserved , but I'll always take it. https://fb.watch/rrmTqxKMmN/
  17. Not sure what their finances are like , when they came down last time there were lost of rumours they were in trouble. If they don't want him and need money to reinvest maybe they will drop the fee a little, in contract until 2026 so they have a little time to think . IMO the best deal would be a season loan , even then I would want them to pick up a % of his wage. The best thing he's done is allow Knight to drop into his best position , even that isn't every game.
  18. I bumped into a good mate yesterday, while I feel sorry for him and I think they would feel a little robbed over the 90. If it's a Pen it's a Pen regardless of time or situation. The minute a Pen is denied because one team is in a relegation fight , that's when we might as well give up and go home. Oh I get that, but from what I'd seen in the previous 94:30 I felt fairly safe the game was over. Just looked on the BBC; 90'+1' Delay in match because of an injury Michal Helik (Huddersfield Town). 90'+2'. Delay over. They are ready to continue. + 1 minute * 90'+5'. Substitution, Huddersfield Town. Oliver Turton replaces Sorba Thomas. + 30 seconds 90'+6' Delay in match because of an injury Ross McCrorie (Bristol City). 90'+7' Delay over. They are ready to continue. + 1 minute That would take us to 97:30 without allowing for time wasting the Ref felt deserved adding. The Pen is given as 90 + 9 , so not massively over and then 2 bookings after the Pen is given and all the usual malarky surrounding it makes up the rest. I don't often leave early, and whenever I have it is usually the 30 seconds or so is blown before I reach the concourse , lesson learned .

    Sykes

Which I think reflects very poorly on Manning.
  20. But playing your best players, in their best positions might help a little.
  21. We had one "recognised CB" Vs Blackburn . With Vyner out we had none, but we could have played JKL an academy player and CB . That would have meant the same set up with one change, let me know if I've lost you mate.
  22. I saw the BBC gave the time as 90+10 , the added time was 5 minutes so as we were so shite 30 minutes before the end of the 5 I felt safe to leave

    Sykes

OK, if' that was the reason , but I thought he had run it off.
  24. Well , talk about after the Lord Mayors show . 2nd best across the pitch, 2nd to every ball , 2nd to the loose ball and created virtually nothing. We could have made one change and kept virtually the same team and shape as Vs Blackburn, but like the ghost of Lee Johnson was overseeing the game ,we chose to shuffle the entire pack . We were awful in the first half, but no changes until that magical 60 minutes has come and gone , ever ! I know Williams got a knock , but he seemed ok so I wonder why he came off and not James who had a stinker . Let's not kid ourselves , that should have been two or three nil. not a draw. Having to start a game with no recognised CB is really unlucky , but we didn't need to set up like that , and we sure didn't need a manager to stand hands in pockets and watch it passively .
  25. Collision , came for a ball the same time as the striker.
