  1. I know it was away, but Blackburn and good memories for me mean this one. 31 passes and a lovely finish by Tammy.
  2. One thing that I don't think has been mentioned about them, but is regularly brought up for our games .... real figures . There will always be people that don't turn up , but take that off of a low starting point and ...
  3. Well that would be my thinking , if it was announced as mutual consent or that he stepped away. But seeing as he said he was fired and the Club gave much more than a minimal "cheers then", it does seem odd.
  4. Just thinking that myself .
  5. A lot changed in 37 years , 1930 below. Just found this view of the old stand , October 1964
  6. Walton & Hersham sack Manager ... Club say; Ex Manager says ; The table says ; His brief was apparently to try and get to the SOUTHERN PREMIER DIVISION SOUTH in 5 years , he did it in 3 and they sit 5 points from the Playoffs . Their results this year, while not outstanding are something like 6-5-6 ( 23 points from 17 games ) , not to shabby for a team after 3 consecutive promotions . I read he has seen a 700% increase in attendances in his time at the club. It's a funny old game . This was an interesting post, the Club run by a consortium of 24 year olds ? Thinking back to me at 24, they probably sacked him for waking them early and interrupting their hangovers .
  7. We seem to have gone from extreme to extreme. Clubs in the bag under LJ , to not enough to fill a bench under ... well, everyone else.
  8. Seriously , You don't think he felt pressure ? After we won the Cup/League/Grand National etc against South*mpton , we lost to QPR , Sheff W , Cardiff and Ipswich . If we didn't beat Swansea ,we would be going into a game no one thought we would win Vs Leicester , sat 5 points off the relegation zone . Add the boos and unrest he must have heard from the stands , and let's not forget that this squad has the ability to overachieve according to Jon L . He will have 100% felt pressure , even when winning we have hardly been a delight to watch . As for minutes, giving JKL a run is hardly a token gesture . Not seeing he's been on the bench for a while and I thought he looked promising in his cameo 20 mins at Cardiff. The other one Mebude , he's on loan so why not have a proper look with no real jeopardy ? I agree about sticking mainly to players who will be here next year. I wouldn't be playing Twine at the expense of others , I don't see us forking out the money, and to be honest I haven't seen anything to want me to spend the money. The other main problem is our injury list dictates the team we put out so I don't think we will be able to just play next years team .
  9. Finally made it to Bank for a Sunday Roast , absolutely top notch . If I was being picky , Bianchi's roast potatoes are better but over all the best I've had in a long, long time.
  10. I'm sure I saw a post this morning . Just his "signing" photo and a HB message though, nothing special.
  11. I think you're right, but only because I believe the Coach is feeling a bit of pressure. Just my opinion of course. I think , if he was totally confident in his job and the future , he may well try to look at the likes of Knight-Lebel and even give Mebude a 90. Trouble is it hasn't been great, we have stumbled to results and there have been grumbles from the Fanbase . Seems like he is desperate for wins to aid confidence , in the Squad and fans. I would rather JNL had some minutes this year with no real pressure, than have to be thrown in to (depending how your glass looks) Promotion/relegation battle. Same with Mebude , you can watch him in training , but what if he's one that shines in competitive games ? We brought him in to look at, may as well do that. Now what I think we will do is play our best available team until the end. Maybe at 5-0 up Vs Blackburn and Huddersfield think about giving someone a run. On 60+ minutes of course.
  12. It won't look good either way. Manning wants James and gets him ? As you say , mockery . Manning wants him but doesn't because JL & Tins disagree ? Might as well stop messing and make Jon manager and Tins assistant .
  13. The first Captain when I started going RIP.
  14. The one thing we have improved since 21/22 is goals against. 21/22 - 77 22/23 - 56 23/24 - 45 ( to date ) If we don't go silly that should be a year on year improvement . It's a start that, if we can start to create more ,could lead to real improvement . Less goals against means a chance of more draws and 1-0 wins , we can but hope.
  15. Sadly I agree. What I will say, I want performances now. I need to see improvement this season as we won't have loads to spend and a large chunk will have to go on filling holes. We could lose a ball winner ( Williams ) , playmaker & leader ( James ) , A decent striker ( Conway ) apart from any surprises . Coming in we have 2 kids and Bird , who is a bit of an unknown (to me at least) . Conway isn't of massive value ATM , so if we get £3m , add whatever "warchest" that is released and we might have maybe £10m . That's optimistic and thinking that Jon & Dad feel they have to back their judgement . That will probably have to buy 2 MFs , 2 strikers and a CB before we start to bolster the squad numbers. That's going to be tough and I think we will have to risk some lower League hopefuls for sure. As it stands I am not confident.
  16. Yes , though the change maybe should have been Twine. Sykes wasn't great but he tries, Twine was a passenger for the most part. Sykes has played 10 as well and even poor I'd keep him on. Agree totally about Mehmeti .
  17. I'll just leave this here, not sure if he was hoping for a game or expecting another pitch invasion.
  18. Yep , roughly. I would have liked to see what would have happened if he'd been given the time to get those returning players back in. I came away from Cardiff fed up with losing, but optimistic there were signs we could kick on. That was not to be , but the fans were sold a plan that the new man would improve this squad , this season . That isn't on Manning. But I haven't seen much to think it will be better next year. There have been times we have lost games due to the other coaches making changes we couldn't cope with or react too. We tend to do Subs by the numbers and by the clock, the one time we didn't was at Plymouth and it worked and I was optimistic , for a short time. Yesterday, as I said elsewhere , Dickie being out is a big factor . But we seem to set up to a plan, that plan is always right and any changes will be personnel not plan . I am not seeing him adapt or learn , be proactive or positively reactive . For him not to be out of his depth will take a change of ideas and attitude on his part IMO , he will sink or swim on that. The Championship is a hard place to learn on the job.
  19. I want to see that we can impose ourselves on teams and not be passive and wait for the opposition to let us play. If we get performances, they would likely lead to results, but I want to see signs that next year will be worth the effort of going. Yesterday was an awful watch , Dickie missing was massive and so many having off days couldn't be expected. But after good early positive subs Vs Plymouth , we were back to waiting for 60 minutes and changing players and not plans. We could have put TC on for Twine and play 2 up top or 1 & 1 , anything to give them more problems. We were better in the 2nd half, but it felt like hanging on to what we had , rather than trying to win the game. With nothing really hanging on the result, that is disappointing . Not sure if Mehmeti got a knock , but swapping him for Cornick was odd . AM had supplied a few of the more interesting moments , if he had to come off we could have had another look at the other loanee . If Mebude isn't going to play from the bench and isn't going to play for U21s , I'm not sure why he hasn't been sent back.
  20. I can't remember specifically , but the Club statement said (along with the top 6 bollox ) that we were under performing and that Manning was brought in to take us to the next level . Paraphrasing , and I really can't be arsed to search for the interview , but that was the gist of it. So the they implied Pearson was under performing with the squad and Manning would improve us . Mind you it was supposed to be a seamless , perfect fit for continuity . In that respect , I feel sorry for Manning .
  21. Just watched the FBC Pod am amazed that although the Semi Final was important enough to pull players from the U21s and the first team bench, but not important enough to travel up the night before. You have to wonder if sitting in a coach for hours on the day of the game , had something to do with the 3 lads injuries. Seems a mad decision to make.
  22. Similar to how I've been thinking Major. Having a close look at someone who has seen to have potential, but has stalled. TBF it would be hard to scout him at Westerlo as he isn't playing. I do think it's annoying that a loan kid is making the bench but not someone like Yeboah, or another kid just for experience . Embude looks nowhere near getting minutes at the moment , it feels like he's only on the bench because he was loaned in, otherwise I think he would be in the same place as our other 21s. In fact I'm surprised he hasn't been playing for the 21's like others have done previously, just to get minutes in. As i stands will will be making a decision based on seeing him train with the first team , not ideal.
  23. Context, Pearson was brought in to completely overhaul the Club, Manning was brought in to take the current squad onto a level it should be at . The owners thought we were under performing. I liked Pearson , I thought he should have been given until the summer at least , but he's gone. Now I judge the team on what they do. I don't give a shit that Jon said top 6 side , I do care about trajectory . I don't see any forward momentum at the moment . The owners didn't take into account that we had the weakest squad out just before Pearson was binned , how does that equate now ? It was really unlucky that Dickie was out , I think his leadership could have meant the difference. Last game I thought his half time Subs showed that front foot leadership we wanted. Today was back to the 60 ish minute, like for like Subs . Not inspiring . More or less the same as Pearson, by the Boards ideas is under performing . Just saying.
