  1. Those 3 were cracking players, all loved a tackle and could have played at a higher level. I worked with them occasionally at U16 level in 1997, 98 then the senior squad. There was a lot of talent but not the opportunity girls have today.
  2. The history of BCWFC is quite complicated. It really needs a diffinitive history writing. I can't remember the exact date of this but it was around 1999,2000 and taken at Clevedon's Hand Stadium.
  3. An excellent post. There are a lot of gaps at times in the formation, leading to misplaced passes or players isolated. It's frustrating seeing the same clubs in the men's and women's games leading the leagues but it's all about investment. When I coached BCWFC in the 90's the big clubs were nowhere and not interested. I received nothing for the time and effort I put in, apart from the gratitude of the players and their families. The mens club provided a minibus and old kit, but that was it. However, it was fun and we kept the club alive. City had a chance to make the women's team one of the best in the country with the right investment, but like all things it's back to square one.
  4. I work with people developing positive mindset, relieving stress, mental recovery. The club has sport psychologists but clearly given the state of the men, women and rugby team whatever they are doing is not working
  5. I feel for Lauren and the players, I know what it's like, but also how to change mindsets. I offered to help but like most things at City, you get ignored. I'll remember happier times as coach.
  6. As I've said on posts in the men's forums, it's all about corporate, buildings, arenas, conferences, concerts, exhibitions and naming a stand after yourself. Sadly the sport plays second fiddle.
  7. Another poor goal. Keeper stays on the line might have had a chance. Lack quality, poor decisions.
  8. ...and just like another one poor from Brighton but better from the reds.
  9. ...and then goal. Still time.
  10. This is poor. Just like watching the men. Static at that corner. Unforced errors, giving the ball away, lack pace and movement. They look weak physically at times in the challenges too. Good experience for the players, but can't compete at this level.
  11. Agree Dr. Thankfully it's first v second in Alex's game this morning, so despite my surgery I will be wrapping up warm to watch him play. I won't be back at at AG until April unless I get the all clear from the surgeon. Could be a blessing in disguise
  12. Up and down the country there are kids and adults wearing Liverpool, Man City, Utd etc shirts who follow PL teams despite not coming from these cities, or probably attending any games. They are followers of success, not suupporters. My 11-year-old son doesn't. He's born in Bristol, only has City or England shirts, and a season ticket. He's a one club kid...and bored. My boy is a fantastic footballer, a striker, who understands the game, watches European football on YouTube and knows what is entertaining and successful football. How long can the current board etc expect him to watch this s**t and keep him motivated to follow his club. He's got many friends who don't want to come either. This is the future of our club, and sadly the current board are only interested in ££. Sorry SL/JL you are destroying your own future with s**t decisions. FFS sort it out or move on.
  13. Sorry don't agree. Yes problems are above his head, but he's also the problem. He had an interview told them what they wanted to hear and has failed to deliver. A good coach can make things work with what they've got. I did it as coach with BCWFC in the 90's when I made the team hard to beat, saved them from relegation and to the semifinal of the Glos cup. I didn't try to play a style that didn't fit the players. It was identifying strengths of what I had in the squad then playing to it. I remember watching Cardiff play and knew how to nullify their threat by playing someone basically in the centre circle to break up everything that came through the middle and forced them wide. We drew 2 - 2 and turned the corner. Manning has no other plans, which is why we struggle. The football is boring, predictable and easy to nullify. People go on about the FA cup but we had no shots on target at home to Forest. In a one-off cup game! Our run-in is very tough and could quite easily slip into the bottom 3.
  14. Sadly looking down Nil points from next 2 games at least. FFS this was avoidable last November before junior and co decided that we needed a change.
  15. This was another inept, clueless performance. Cardiff were dire, but still came away with the points. Even the relegation betting odds have gone from 375/1 to 150/1. Another couple of defeats and it's looking more likely that we'll be close. I still think we'll finish 18th. Same problems, but no passion, especially in a derby game. My wife went and hates football as I was home following surgery. Her first words were, 'why were they passing around the back with 10 minutes to go, shouldn't they be getting it into the box and trying to score. It was so slow.' Says it all, and SL/JL will still be asking for £550 for my next season ticket.
  16. The club is in a mess and has been for a long time. When owners and their son wield so much power it is always going to be a problem. In any organisation there needs to be accountability and sadly SL answers to no one, and JL to his Dad. With Wickes closing we've now got the distraction again of more rebuilding off the pitch. The vanity project that is Bristol Sport is becoming a behemoth hanging over everything. BCFC are constantly struggling, the Bears too. No possible sale of the organisation can ever happen apart from US interest who buy into the whole franchise/organisational structure. That's not likely to happen. We are stuck. As I have said before I don't see LM as a solution and we should have stuck with NP. You could feel and see his relationship with the players by their comments after he left. JL and BT have got a lot wrong and need to admit that. It takes balls to be honest. The run-in could cause us real problems with the current squad/form/attitude. Sadly, my final prediction is 18th. Just another wasted season. Anyway, if you want a chuckle. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/q8D6szQZneaMNDnp/?startTimeMs=2040
  17. If you look at our run in over the next few weeks we could be falling like a lead balloon. Not looking good.
  18. I've seen nothing to suggest Manning can achieve anything. The problem is at the top. We are years away from a promotion challenge, again!
  19. Wednesday have been better in every department. As others have said we look like a bottom 3 side.
  20. Which is why we are back at the start of another rebuild project. More pillars and BS from the lansdowns. Oh, and a soon to be advertised season ticket renewal.
  21. Sloppy and predictable first half. Pring looked unfit as does Sykes. Vyner slow to react for both goals. Need a better 2nd.
  22. This is not about a penalty miss or the performance. We had a chance to progress in the home tie and didn't have a single shot on target. Pens are a lottery, if Naki takes his chance then we may have gone through. We are a mid table championship team going nowhere due to poor decision making at the top. As someone who has supported City for 53 years I cannot see us in the top flight in the next 10.
  23. Great result. Real confidence boost and 4 - 3 - 3 seems to be paying dividends at the moment, especially with Sykes!
