  1. I understand possession football but can someone explain why, when we have a free kick in our own half near half-way, we invariably play it back to Max who lumps it up field to be contested by the half-way line. Surely the free kick should be hit into the opponents penalty area to be contested. I'm well aware that other teams do this as well but I find it so negative.
  2. Yes, even if no one at the club reads this forum, our views are out there now. Over to you Steve (or Jon).
  3. Dave just ask the question about communication? If there is no story to tell then why can't the club say so.
  4. Says it all. Could be followed by 'Too many Lansdowns'?
  5. Ffs can someone from the club just keep us informed as to what's happening. All we get is info on the next fixture. We're treated like frigging mushrooms, but without the shit!!!
  6. Just be aware the M5 will be closed both ways this week between jcn 21 and 19 from 10pm to 6am. Diversions are on the A4, A370, and A369 via the Cumberland basin complex. May get a bit hectic after the match Wed around this area. Some congestion charges are being lifted on the advised diversion route. Best check if it affects anyone you know.
  7. My favourite ever player. As kids in the 60's and 70's. we all wanted to play the part of Bobby Charlton. Rip Sir. A true legend.
  8. SL will of course say to us " I'm glad you like Nigel, it was me who appointed him".
  9. Who is this non footballing person of whom you speak? Is it he whos crayons have been replaced with a football club that he is now fed up with?
  10. If Nige is sailing a lone ship against SL, JL, and Tins, then I think his days are numbered. It does seem however that the players seem to be with him judging by the warm embraces at the end of games. I also think most fans are now pro Nige which was not always the case. So if SL is thinking of making a change, still hypothetical of course, and ends up with another yes man, what will the reaction be. Well for me, after almost 70 years support and countless managers and coaches and seeing us in the top division and the bottom division, it will probably be the end. Nige is rebuilding slowly and surely and that is better than instant fix followed by instant failure. If the top men can't see what's happening then we have the wrong men at the top. If Nige gets sacked then there will be no renewal from me next season and I may not even see this one out. I'm too old to wait for another clear out and rebuild scenario. I honestly don't think we are too far away under Nige. But then, it's not my club or money as I've been told.
  11. This is Bristol. Its what happens here unfortunately.
  12. No from me too. OK so they play under a neutral flag as a non Russian team. Where do you think they would go to celebrate if they won a competition? They would be greeted as heroes by Putin and his administration. The rest of the world would look like arseholes. End the war and then, and only then, let's talk about it
  13. That nest egg will come in handy one day. We may be able to bid 50 mil to get that Scott lad from Bournemouth.
  14. All refs spend ages before a corner or free kick lecturing players about pulling blocking etc, and then once he let's the kick be taken, suddenly goes completely blind and ignores everything. The arm wrap around Bell would have been applauded in a rugby match.
  15. Sign Billy Sharpe. I know he's 93 now but he's scored more goals at AG than any of our current team. Serious answer. The club from top to bottom need to start singing from the same hymnn sheet and stop being a one man band.
  16. Very well put. Most fans of course would like promotion to the Prem, even if it was for one season only. I think the trouble is that SLs ambition is just to avoid relegation.
  17. But if we are all saying the same thing, perhaps it is SL who is wrong. Just because it's his money, doesn't make him right.
  18. Exactly this. Look at Higgs at the gas, and plenty of other owners. Just wanted their money back.....allegedly. If Steve wants his money back, will he really care who buys us?
  19. You best to the team talk then Dave. I'm quite the opposite. But then I'm a miserable old sod.??
  20. Let's get a home win in the Championship first?
  21. No need for this silence from the club. We were told why Sextone, Ashton, and Gould left. So why not Alexander .
  22. The majority of fans only turn up for games and are completely unaware of what happens outside of matchday. Who knew that Keith Dawe was our chairman for several years and many still think that SL is chairman. There is more knowledge on this forum which breeds healthy debate, as in this case. Until the club tells us what's happening for fact, it's all pure conjecture. Something appears to be going wrong off the pitch however. My main complaint is the lack of communication from the club. They don't need to go into detail but they shouldn't just ignore the fans concerns. We are the lifeblood of the club. Personally my faith in S L is fading rapidly but that is because he, or the club, doesn't keep us informed of developments. I've always been a supporter of Steve but I think his "it's my club and my money" stance is beginning to alienate people.
  23. Yes I'm sure there is a valid reason why he's gone, if true, but the silence from the top is deafening again.
  24. Fair play. Sorry ,I missed that. Thanks for info.
