  1. I didn't spot our chairman (Jon) in his usual spot yesterday either. Has he left too or was he back in Bermuda?
  2. It's the chicken and egg scenario. Which comes first , performance or atmosphere. That's why we need to get the players syched up before they come out.
  3. Anybodys that works. They don't own the rights. Drink up thy cider doesn't work any more. That's why the atmosphere is flat. It may sound good if you are in the middle of 500 people singing it but it doesn't spread round the ground. Of course the atmosphere was better in the 70s. We were mostly all standing then. You don't sing when you're sitting down. We are not all Val Doonicans. (Ask your dad)
  4. I'd be 100% in favour of us singing "You'll never walk alone" to our team just before they entered the pitch. Many teams share anthems and that one's right up there to make the hairs on your neck stand up. Let the players know we are with them. The words could be put on the screen (if needed). I bet 90% would join in. Doesn't do Liverpool any harm at home!
  5. You're right about the atmosphere in the Lansdown. I've been there since it was built and apart from the high profile cup games, when admittedly there were non season ticket holders in there , its as flat as can be. The singing reaches us but we can't make out the words or the tune sometimes. It was probably built that way with the singing section in the far corner, as the corporate boxes are behind us with all the suits and directors. I just feel we need a proper anthem belted out just before ko that we all know and can join in. The players will hear it in the tunnel and it may just give them, and us, an extra lift.
  6. That's not worked for 20 years .
  7. I know this has been mentioned in several other threads, especially this past few weeks, but what is the reason the team AND the crowd are so lacklustre and uninspiring at home? We've had all the theories about location of away fans and the home singers and one question keeps cropping up. Do you join in with the singing? Well one reason maybe is that we don't have song to sing. Where is our identity.what is our song? It's not the bloody "Red red robin" or "Drink up thy cider". Neither of them will inspire the crowd.(and don't even mention "HI ho silver lining") Most clubs have a club song , even the Rovers. (Yes I know it's crap but it's theirs) So come on guys and girls. Surely some one can come up with a Bristol City Anthem that we all know the words to and 15000 plus fans can sing together to lift the mood at home. Over to you.
  8. Very welcome win and some positivity at last this week
  9. It's the curse since The Wedlocks pub was demolished.
  10. So that's why they didn't want paper tickets this year.
  11. As I write this there are about 80 people reading this topic. If we all tore up our season ticket and threw them at him next game he wouldn't give a ****. We are a small group of passionate fans but if you think he will heed what we say , we'll, dream on. Don't forget his "it's my club" quote.
  12. This is the million dollar question. Would Steve be happy to continue backing us with little or no chance of seeing a financial return? He knows the risks and the odds are stacked against him. He said at last years Senior Reds that the best way to become a millionaire was to start as a billionaire and buy a football club! He knows he won't make money but how much is he prepared to lose?
  13. If we want to go up and stay up the costs are enormous . Yes the rewards are large too but someone has to dig deep. 100 million won't go far when you factor in huge transfer fees and obscene wages. We haven't got 2 or 3 Scotts to sell to help finance us. If we're carrying 30 mil dept in the Championship, God help us in the Prem.
  14. I think you may have inadvertently stumbled across the reason for the current situation when you stated that Lansdown had established us in the Championship. Is that perhaps as far as he's willing to back us? Is the Premierships costs perhaps a step too far for him?
  15. I think Jons role is to report to Steve because Steve has to spend so much time out of the country. Jon is the messenger boy imo.
  16. I still see Jon at home games sat with Steve, Maggie, Marina Dolman, and Doug Harman. But apart from that, the silence is deafening.
  17. Serious question. I know SL is the owner and that JL is the chairman , but who else is on the board?
  18. I think Steve always intended to ease back and let Jon take the reigns in the long term. He now sees that Jon is not suitable and not interested in taking over so it's on to plan B. Problem is, there is no plan B.
  19. Well we certainly don't want the status quo , or Jon taking over ! Jon has zero interest it seems if his lack of communication with the fans is anything to go by. We've stagnated as a club and I feel maybe SL wants to get out now with the future infrastructure in place as his selling point. Can we trust SL to find the right buyer anymore than we trust him to find the right coach/manager? He's made a few errors there over the years. Bottom line is it's his club, as he's told us, and it will be his decision. I just hope he calls it right. I'm not aware who else there is to advise him.
  20. Thing is what do we class as success? Get to the Prem and stay there? Big ask. Bounce between Prem and Championship with parachute payments? Again, big ask. Or stay as a midtable Championship side flirting with top end, bottom end occasionally? Most likely outcome. I maybe alone but I don't want promotion if it means almost instant relegation whilst being the Prems whipping boys. People say we are Prem ready, but are we really?
  21. Yeah he still attends home games at least. As for enthusiasm, I don't know.
  22. My feeling is Pearson could walk rather than be released. He allegedly came in with the remit of clearing the deadwood out, reducing the wage bill of the top earners , and develop from within with the academy youngsters. He's done a great job doing all that whilst trying to get us playing better football with some, not total, success. Now he's lost his star player and seemingly not been given much leeway to replace him. You can't keep selling the family silver and hoping for the best. I hope Nige stays and things improve on the pitch, but as we've seen so far this season, and I know it's still early, we don't seem to have a game plan that will prove successful. SL seems determined to play safe and cautious. Frankly the football so far has been pretty boring. It just feels a bit insecure at the club for me. It's all very flat imo.
  23. I agree home fans should be behind both goals. It's not rocket science, but our owners have a different perspective. AG is a brilliant stadium but the rebuild has done nothing for the atmosphere. I also concede that we don't get behind the team enough although so far this season there has been little to cheer. I can't recall getting off my seat once against Brum apart from going home! It's the chicken and egg scenario at AG. Which comes first, performance or fans backing. At the moment, both are sterile.
