  1. Yeah shame on you Rich ... Remember you don't attend and call it as you see it - that would just be wrong wouldn't it?! Oh and it's only ok to slag off a manager if he's called SOD . Not cheeky chappie Cotts.

I was there and saw what you saw - don't think it was City's worst performance (oh the choice we have!) but first half was appallingly bad. Yes Cotterill did make the change in time (how bad are we that Marvin Elliott is our saviour?) but that was after the team were subjected to boos ringing around the ground at half time because he got it wrong first half.

I think we were lucky yesterday but hopefully "Cotts" will learn quickly and take us up the table. Sadly as yet little that he has said or done has impressed me - but I live in hope and Moore looks an astute signing. And the post match interview rambling on about the crowd not seeing what's really happening or some such rubbish was toe-curling.

He should know by now that you only have a real understanding of the performance if you don't go to the match but post your commentary on the game on here.

That's not a dig at people who don't attend as there are all manner of reasons why people don't go and that's fine. Going though gives you a feel of whether the team is going forwards or backwards week by week ... And like RichS I think we are going backwards.

Still time to turn things around though hopefully and being out of the bottom four has got to be good for the team mentality.

Onwards and upwards - and all credit to those who attend and post as they see things.

Yep, as long as they haven't had several pints, and comment on incidents they are seeing ( this is indeed helpful to those reliant on the radio) rather than forcing their opinion of the manager down people's throats at the first opportunity.

And as long as they give their posts balance by later giving credit to the players and manager when they strive, and succeed, to put things right.

I was at the game and I watch matches cold stone sober these days. We were awful first half, no doubt about that, but no doubt also the dreadful swirly conditions played a part, and no doubt too that it was a commendable effort by the players, and manager, to make the changes and up their game to grab the points in the second half when that scenario looked very unlikely at h/t.

A bit of balance is definitely required when someone is appointing themselves the on the spot match reporter because it is clear from the responses to Rich's posts just how easily the rabble can be roused by someone who clearly starts from a position of either not liking, or not rating, the manager.

He's entitled to his opinion of course, even if his pre match drinking may make his posts a little more dramatic and opinionated than necessary, but if you're going to damn the manager on the evidence of first half hour at least have the grace to keep posting at the same rate and give some credit for the second half.

Even if it's between gritted teeth.

  2.

Do you realise that you mention SOD in most of your posts? He's gone.

Funny that, you're not averse to giving a strong, even abusive opinion on City managers yourself, in fact it only took you 34 minutes of today's game - post 86 on this thread - to call Cotterill a 'useless cretin of a manager'. Or 2 minutes later, 'the idiot has now pulled out a piece of paper wondering why we are 1 down'

Pretty personal stuff, not sure I remember EMB ever resorting to calling SO'D similar, and certainly not less than 2 months in to his City managerial career.

Funnily enough your frequent comments and 'on the spot' digs at Cotterill went very quiet on the match thread once City had scored.

  3. Three points is three points. A Carlisle fan attending may feel robbed

    Just read the match thread.

Notable for you making embarrassing critical comments throughout in your self appointed position as on the spot match reporter. And by the look of the responses how easily the rabble are roused....

Yes, City were poor in the first half, but the right substitutions were made at half time and the team fought themselves back into the game from a very difficult h/t situation.

Now you can't even eat humble pie and give a bit of credit for a great comeback by City under extremely difficult swirling conditions.

Well done Marv. and Wes, and well done SC for having the balls to make the early subs., the sort of positive change we wouldn't have seen under SO'D.

And in the end the Carlisle fans won't 'feel robbed' at all, City's 2nd half performance deserved the points.

  4. If we start like we did against MK, and are more clinical with the chances created, there's no reason why we can't be well in front by h/t.

Good to see Wagstaff back and the inclusion of Moore and Wade Elliot should be a boost to the team.

3-0 to City. Jet, Flint, Elliot(W)

  5. I'll stick my neck out and say that Cotterill doesn't have personality.  He has bluff and bluster and very little substance.

And I will stand by that.

I don't know, but bluff and bluster may just be enough to inspire the players to fight for this club whereas someone sniffing miserably and bigging up our opponents looked very unlikely too.

Suggest we revisit this ' lack of personality' business you've picked up on at the end of the season, because he'll certainly have to display one to the players to keep this City side up.

As a fan, and for what it's worth my observation is he seems to have 10x the positivity, and personality of his predecessor.

  6. I dont agree Nick J but respect your opinion. And nogbadI think we did see evidence of it. I dont question his lack of personality or lack of inspiration he lacked both this by the boatload

I think SO'D spoke a good game tiz, but not too much evidence on the pitch.

In the final analysis he was damned by the team's appalling record under his management.

Imo he didn't have alot going for him from what we saw, however tactically astute he may have appeared from his programme notes etc, he was clearly incapable of putting it into practice at AG - similar to the brick wall he hit at Doncaster.

  7. And this is where the anti-Sodites and Cotterettes will be seen to be hypocritical.

SOD came in half way through a transfer window with no funds provided to him, with a team in 24th place and 20 games remaining.

Cotts came in beginning of December, with funds being promised, with a team in 23rd place and 28 games remaining.

The anti-Sodites blames SOD for our relegation last season.

If we get relegated this season, the Cotterettes will still blame SOD, even though he has taken over a team better placed, with 8 more games and more funds available.

Not all 'anti Sodites', as you call them, are confirmed 'Cotterettes', as you (somewhat strangely) call them, many of us are keeping our powder dry and watching his progress closely, hoping to be persuaded he is the right man.

Seeing the team showing heart, fight and real passion is what many of us will need to see to become 'Cotterettes', and if he gets that response regularly we'll hopefully be - just about -  alright.

If we go down again with a similar lack of fight to that displayed by SO'D's team I doubt you'l find one poster on here defendiing Cotterill.
