  1. Yep, but that's because it's Bristol City and not the likes of Reading or Norwich for example. The same applies to in the ground and that's why I'm also concerned about the segregation. There's a reason that stand is always away fans only - the number of Millwall fans always looking for trouble. City and Millwall have a long history that the officials of both clubs, and those responsible for ground safety, should be well aware of. Splitting the away end didn't have to happen, would they have contemplated doing it if Chelsea or West Ham were today's visitors?
  2. I'm very surprised City agreed to splitting the stand - if they were consulted, which they surely must have been. Millwall fans were constantly trying to get at us from a side stand last time I was there, and that was with us in the top tier, so hard to imagine it'll be much different today. Their stewards took very little action to stop them btw, their fans seemed to be able to do what they liked with minimal intervention. Their owner dying is of course very sad, and right that due respect should be shown (but why not against Reading in the week?) but it shouldn't lead to actions being taken that may heighten the risk of trouble or undermine security and safety for the away fans. With the train strike as well, it looks like the perfect opportunity for those looking for trouble, and we know there are plenty of those at Millwall. I'd like to feel that somehow today will go without incident and those going will be on here later saying everything was fine. I'd be pleasantly surprised if that's the case, unfortunately.
  3. I suspect we've got that position covered with Palmer-Houlden, just a year older than O'Donkor, tall and a fairly prolific scorer.
  4. Pretty obvious to me that what I consider to be proper managers like Cotts and Nige are best suited to the club, but they're not best suited to SL who will only accept them short term when the club is in a desperate position. My concern is that SL may want to revert to his favoured type as soon as he feels he can, and either under funding Nige or setting completely unrealistic targets may be the catalyst for such a change.
  5. Do you mean Goodrham? He had a few efforts on goal, but he's listed as a midfielder. O'Donkor started up front, 18 years old with 2 goals in 30 apps.
  6. @phantom I'm hopeful your positive response to my suggestion above shows you're happy to try and do it when you have time. Meanwhile could the thread be pinned as in previous seasons?
  7. Too young you'd think, he's only just 17 isn't he?
  8. I've felt this for some time. Iirc the quote at the time of his appointment was that Nige absolutely blew them away at the interview. He'll have told them some uncomfortable home truths (turns out the situation was even worse than he thought) but they knew exactly what they were getting. Whether SL likes him personally or not should be irrelevant, NP's no doubt done exactly what he said he would do and the club is now in a far healthier position. SL should be counting his blessings NP was not only available but willing to take on such a complete mess of a club. If, as you suggest, the plan is to make life difficult for NP to find excuses to replace him the fans will see through it. There is still residual anger and frustration from the Cotts out/LJ in debacle and I can't see some sort of repeat being tolerated. Have the fans ever turned against SL? He should not be too sure they never will. Whatever his personal feelings may be SL must back NP now, publicly and financially, for the good of the club.
  9. Not sure it's possible for a thread starter to do that is it? Maybe the OP has been deleted?
  10. Yep, the way things are going probably best not to play him, and make sure he sits out training too.
  11. They're a worry, aren't they?
  12. 12 weeks seems a bit pessimistic then, how long was he out last time?
  13. Like the Squad Updates thread I think it would have been better if last season's Injured List thread had just continued in to this season. The Injured List has been going for a few seasons now and it would be fascinating (to me anyway) to see it all on one continuous thread from the start to show just how consistently bad our injury situation has been over the last few years. Perhaps the mods could link them all together? Is this possible @phantom ?
  14. Recall option in January, not before.
  15. Glad to hear it, see you in the queue for the Clark's pie van.
  16. What, a pie, chips, or a couple of pints of real ale? Nothing wrong with any of them in moderation, and perfect pre match Winter warmers.
  17. I don't buy anything in the ground and don't look any further than the chippie on North Street, The Clark's pie van and the Coopers for my matchday refreshments. Fans really should support local pubs before and after the game if they can; they traditionally rely on match day trade from us and now the rugby, and each one that closes down is a big loss to the wider area. Supporting struggling pubs on match days goes far above giving extra money to City afaic. Nothing much to recommend the concourse apart from the Gents imo.
  18. Competition now closed. The time for predictions has passed and the action starts now. Very optimistic predictions on the whole - with our fair share of penalties and a bit more luck with injuries this could be a very enjoyable season. Let's hope so. COME ON CITY!
  19. Pretty sure we've got a record number of entries, nevertheless more always welcome. Still time to put forward your predictions but you'll need to be quick. Deadline for entries is mid day today.
  20. Good response so far. A reminder for anyone still intending to send in their predictions that the cut-off time for entries is mid day on Saturday.
  21. We've got a strong squad so with Benarous and Atkinson I'm looking at them as being 2 out-of-window strong new squad additions to look forward to, hopefully in October and December respectively. Fingers firmly crossed for them both when they make their comebacks; I think we'll all be holding our breath whenever Ayman, in particular, goes down.
