  1. All entrants should have been alerted to this thread so please get your results in asap. if you haven't already. We don't want this thread to overlap with the new season competition so it can't be left it too long before declaring the winner(s) from results received.
  2. Table as it stands with the scores of 22 of (a record) 37 entries in: 1st = 28 points richwwtk, bcfc01, CheddarReds, BCFCAllen 2nd 27 points CyderHead92 3rd= 26 points BCFCGav, Lrrr, OneTeamInBristol 4th 25 points phantom 5th= 24 points RedArmy75, DaveFevs, DaveInSA, ExiledAjax 6th= 23 points Kodjias Wrist, tin 7th= 22 points Nogbad the Bad, handsofclay 8th= 21 points LondonBristolian, Pearsonistheman, redsquirrel 9th= 20 points brad blit, RedM Generally higher scores this year, in some cases much higher, e.g @richwwtk scored 19 last year but a stonking 28 this time round to share the top spot. Plenty of scores yet to be declared though, so an undisputed Champ may yet emerge to take the much vaunted crown. As things stand one of the joint leaders, @CheddarReds, is a previous Champ and we could be on the verge of crowning Mildly Interesting's first double winner!
  3. Definitely, I've just looked back on the previous season and I was the Champ with just 22 points, the same total that leaves me in the bottom 3 so far on this one. You were joint 2nd on 21 and your 24 this time would have seen you crowned the Champion. 6 more questions in 22/23 but points totals definitely increasing, lots in the teens previously. Also almost twice as many entries for 22/23 which is great.
  4. No, it would be joint winners and the prestige and crown would be shared. It's happened before so wouldn't be a first. Remarkable so far that most scores (not mine ) seem to be in the mid-late 20's so not much in it. 28 correct (50%) is a very good score and may prove enough, but quite possible there's still a 30+ score to be declared.
  5. I can see Ritchie (Pic. 3) Owers (4) Burnell (5) Sweeney(7) Walsh (8) Doherty (11) plus well known City fan Joe Sims (9) Plus Marina, Twentyman and SL. Struggling after that.
  6. Good score rich. Just had a quick look at your entry and 28 looks right to me. It puts you in the lead for the coveted crown so we'll have to have a proper check if it stays that way.
  7. Fair point @Lrrr, the answer to Q20 should be Alex Scott then. @Red Army 75 and @BCFCGav you'll need to adjust your scores as necessary.
  8. First league game but their first home game is Reading in the League Cup.
  9. Time to add up your scores @Lrrr @Davefevs @Kodjias Wrist @Red Army 75 @richwwtk @P'head Red @redsquirrel @supercidered @BCFCGav @Tomo @ExiledAjax @Colemanballs @handsofclay @hinsleburg @CyderHead92 @Sweeneys Penalties @BcfcAllen @RoystonFoote'snephew @Nathandao @Pearsonistheman @bissellredhead @REDOXO @bcfc01 @DaveInSA @Simon Wheeler @LondonBristolian @tin @brad blit @phantom @SouthS22 @OneTeamInBristol @rooted @Dan Robin @CheddarReds @RedM @The Enormous Turnip and let's find out the Mildly Interesting Champion for 22/23! 10. Thanks for differentiating between Conway's league/cup goals. I agree with your 5-8 above, so, 5) Conway, 12 6) 9 league goals 7) Wells,11 ? (eight) 11 league goals Dismissals sorted, and Fevs agrees with the academy graduates so I think we're all set.
  11. Yep, to be sent off the player has to be dismissed from the action, ordered to leave the pitch, take an early bath etc so a retrospective red card, though an interesting addition to consider, can't count. If next season's comp. asks how many red cards will City receive this season, that would be different.
  12. OK, made a bit of a rod for my own back here, definitive answers for some questions are surprisingly hard to confirm so I'm putting the following questions -and the best answers I can find - below, to have them either confirmed if agreed, or changed if anyone can correct them. Once the correct answers to these 7 are agreed I'll put the full list of answers up so all entrants can add up their scores up and the Mildly Interesting Champ for the 22/23 season can be crowned! 5) Who will finish as City's top scorer? (Not specified as League so Includes Cup games.) Conway 6) How many League goals will City's top scorer (whether the player named in Q5 or ano.) get? 12 7) Who will finish as City's 2nd top scorer? (Not specified as League so includes Cup games.) Wells 8)How many League goals will City's 2nd top scorer (whether the player named in Q7 or ano.) get? 11 9.) How many academy graduates will make their City debuts this season in League or Cup competitions? I make it 4 (Khaji, Taylor-Clarke, Low, Francois) 25) Number of City players sent off in all comps? 2 (Sykes x2) Anyone else? 26) First player sent off. Sykes
  13. Indeed, baffling nonsense written by James Piercy, strangely lauded by some on here.
  14. Hi Exiled, Good reminder re. the Mildly Interesting, there were a few questions where I couldn't find definitive correct answers. I've worked my way through a few of them, but still 1 or 2. I'll resurrect the thread over the next few days to see if we can come up with the right answers that we all agree on and then we can total up our scores from there.
  15. Really nice parting words from an amiable young man that I believe to be completely genuine. Good luck Han Noah, you'll always be welcome in BS3.
  16. Always read as supposition to me, reports on a move abroad based on little more than a take on his personality, and where he spent some of last season. Whatever, ending up at Millwall is a really surprising outcome, and as I'm not a fan of Millwall, and they're divisional rivals, there's no particular reason to wish him success there.
  17. Perhaps the club aren't too bothered about shirt sales because they've never been a big money spinner? Or perhaps they could be a bigger money spinner if they consulted with fans and offered them a top quality shirt that was actually popular with the fans. That they couldn't wait to queue up to buy on day !? I don't know, but Ipswich (yes, them again) in L1 shifted 22k the season before last and over 30k last season, so they sell several thousand more shirts than their average gate. Even including the kids' freebies, do City come anywhere near to matching that? Allowing for a smaller fanbase do we shift say 20k+, and if not, why not?
  18. I see Ipswich sold 5k new shirts in the first 5 hours they were on sale - 3k home and 2k away. Very popular with the fans who apparently queued up early to get them, with a large number on display at an away friendly that afternoon. Ipswich may have more fans than City (26k average last year in L1) and be on the crest of a promotion wave nevertheless I wonder how this enthusiasm to get hold of their new shirts compares with first day sales of the new (seemingly not very popular) City shirts?
  19. I agree it was probably mostly at the back but also a question of beefing up the whole team. We always seem to be smaller than the opposition and that's been the case for years. I don't mean players have to be 6ft 3" all over the pitch, just maybe look for players to be at least approaching average height if possible, even 5ft9/10" isn't exactly tall these days, and 5ft 6" really is exceptionally short for a pro footballer. He'd surely be the smallest player on the pitch most weeks and that's a genuine drawback imo unless he's an exceptional fit in all other respects.
  20. I thought we were determined to sign bigger, brawnier players and up the physicality of our team, especially height wise. Wiki has got Styles at 5ft 6", smaller than Dasilva.
  21. It could have been but I was there and December sounds about right. The following season we played at Swindon in the League Cup in August and in the league on the last day of the season, so both likely in good weather. Musker made his City debut in 1980 (Div.2 presumably) so if fit you'd think he'd be above the likes of Bray, let alone Carter and Gooding. Btw, do you know the sub. v Oxford?
  22. One surprise omission from that team is Russell Musker. Or had he already broken his leg at Swindon by then?
  23. Good detective work, very persuasive. Interestingly Cassell's left Oxford for Southampton in March 82 so if it is him it must have been one of his last game for Oxford, if not his last. Definitely Nicholls (a big loss when he badly broke his leg) but I can't get over how much the player on the right looks like Aitken, which it can't be if it's March '82.
