  1. Twine will be 25 next season so plenty of experience there if he stays. Either way Bird & Knight, at 23, have plenty of Championship experience, Knight having almost 150 apps at this level and Bird 100 within a career total of almost 200. So they could both be considered experienced now despite their age and are battle hardened to the rigours of the Championship. Gardner- Hickman, a year younger than Knight and Bird, also has 75 Championship appearances under his belt. As for experience age wise, if KIng, James and Williams depart the likes of Naismith, Wells & Cornick would be the senior pros, with Dickie, Atkinson, McCrorie, Vyner and Pring in their mid 20's, plus any we may bring in of course. With what we've got coming in I expect the club to be entirely pragmatic as regards high earners Williams and James, perhaps one of the two will be offered a new contract on reduced terms but if the club take this route they will do so in the full knowledge it may be rejected. So they'll be very much prepared for a changing of the (old) guard and I don't think the club will be too concerned about a lack of experienced players should the player decide he'll be better off elsewhere.
  2. A few doesn't mean 4 or more normally, usually interpreted as not many or several, i.e. more than 2 but less than 4. So I would take it from he said to be no more than 3 weeks, but it is a vague word and no knowing if LM put much thought into using it. Anyway, Sykes has been out for 4 weeks and counting now, which imo is already longer than we were led to expect.
  3. With the news it's a relatively minor injury I'm going to be a bit more optimistic. If the 'ruled out for 2 weeks' is from the injury picked up in the Watford game (admittedly, extremely unlikely) then he could even miraculously reappear on Friday. If it's taken from the subsequent training twinge setback, 2 weeks out means he could well be back in contention for Middlesbrough on the 10th. If it's taken from yesterday's confirmation of his injury, probably the most likely interpretation, 2 weeks still means he could well be back for Southampton on the 13th, which would be 3 and a half weeks since the original problem. He won't be rushed back, that's for sure, but even so the QPR game would be a month on from the initial injury, and 3 weeks plus from the training setback, so from what we've been told that would be the very latest to expect him back rather than the earliest.
  4. 2-2. Better than I was expecting before the match but obviously Coventry's late equaliser a big disappointment. Overall, good game and well played City.
  5. NAHKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!
  6. Odd one if it is, anyway with City playing tomorrow we'll find out soon enough.
  7. If it's thought necessary for Twine to have a scan, as several on here have indicated, then unfortunately you'd imagine he has a problem that means he'll miss at least some games. Even if, as we'd all hope, it shows up a far more minor problem than perhaps is feared.
  8. Were you singing, 'I hate Nottingham Forest...' then?
  9. Hence the old ' We hate Nottingham Forest...' song.
  10. Eight years since he left AG. Doesn't look that much different to me, and not bad at all for someone who'll be 60 this year. Not keen on FGR these days but sure Cotts will do well, they're very fortunate to have him.
  11. You can always dislike and distrust a particular board (or manager for that matter) but the 'club' is far bigger than that - to me the club is it's history, your fellow City fans, and supporting the team. I'd never let a few individuals put me off Bristol City FC.
  12. Contrived to become so officially at a time the club were desperate to create some positive publicity, but he will never be seen as the record holder to many of us who remain extremely annoyed by the whole shameful business.
  13. Don't know whether he's got new glasses or he's a bit more cheerful these days but @headhunter seems to look increasingly like Sergeant Bilko.
  14. Bristol City Trilogy, on Carrot Records.
  15. Went up Clarken Coombe the other day and couldn't believe how many trees have been cut down at the roadside. In the many hundreds at a minimum - no idea what the reason is but they can't all have been diseased Ash.
  16. My driving instructor at the time knew Shag Connors and got me a signed copy. Love it personally - it may be cheesy and not a great production but all the better for that imo. Pretty sure all monies raised by sales went to the club too.
  17. I'm not surprised a 35 year old with such a poor appearance record isn't being offered a new contract, and the club should feel under no obligation to offer him a coaching position just because he may be well thought of in the game and a City fan. He's done the job he was brought in for and it's the right time for a parting of the ways. Correct decision imo.
  18. Interesting thread about those who've settled in Bristol from abroad who've and gone on to become City supporters, including 2nd and 3rd generation, but as the OP said the fans sounded like they came from Poland I'd assumed he'd heard them talking in what he took to be Polish, in that case perhaps more likely to be visiting as a group rather than brought up in Bristol. Either way Bristol has long been known as a City of incomers and very much continues to be so, whether it be through immigration, the unusually high number choosing to stay in the area after university, or big local employers recruiting from around the country, so it's important a fair number of those that become permanent residents go on to support City. Worth remembering then that while Bristol may be seen as having a large population, a great number are not Bristolians - my road in BS3 perhaps a prime example, I'd estimate 70% of households being non Bristolian - and therefore do not have the affiliation with Bristol City F.C. that most of us had originally through family and friends to get us down there in the first place, so there are a huge number who live here permanently (and are obviously counted as part of the Bristol's population when it's described as so large in football catchment area terms) who don't have a natural leaning to support the local clubs and those with an interest in football and wanting to watch it live - and their offspring - somehow have to be persuaded to make City their team. There are some encouraging signs this is slowly happening but clearly much untapped potential support in the area for the club to work on.
  19. Went on the back row for an evening cup match a few years ago. Never again, it was like sitting in my parents' old kitchen with those bright strip lights just above my head.
  20. Tbf, there are over 1k comments under last night’s BBC match report and although there are certainly a good number along the lines you say above, I was struck by how many West Ham fans took defeat graciously, said it should be a man’s game, that City played better and fully deserved the win, and wished us all best in the next round.
  21. Quite a marked change in LM’s demeanour - he seems to have settled in well and looks genuinely happy to be here now.
