  1. Half the squad has left tbh but yes they're supposed to be going big. @bcfc01 I've covered it in some depth but for me there are multiple outstanding questions about the period either to 2021 or 2022. 1) In 2019-20 they attributed some £30m of Player amortisation to Covid Losses. This means that not only was the loss accelerated into a Covid year, their argument was, is that it should not be included in the calculations as all as it is a loss attributes to Covid, they wrote down some £43m in all that year but £12-13m was included as regular impairment. This has the dual effect of not only writing it off from the losses that year but excluding it in its entirety. A triple effect perhaps which I shall come into in point 3 or 4. 2) In 2020-21 they wrote odd or attributed £10-11m in lost transfer profits and cost savings to Covid. Running total now £40-41m. 3) They also 'sold' the Bet365 and Stadium, aggregated profit some £32m, I say sold it was a sale and Leasrback trick..The Bet365 stadium constituted the bulk of the profit going for around £70m! Profit approaching £30m, just a few million on the Training Ground. 4) There was also a further £2-3m in lost transfer profits and cost savings attributed to 2021-22. 5) Further to this the dodgy Covid losses meant that a plethora of okayers could leave in particular in summer 2021 thereby freeing up wages but sold cor the remaining book value which would be low. Remember that 2019-20 and 2020-21 were aggregated and halved so in a Covid context: £88m £9m £48.5m for halved pre tax losses. Covid impact attributed was £56m. Halved for Covid. £28m Profit on Disposal of the Fixed Assets. £32m Halved for Covid. £16m
  2. Read somewhere Inter were monitoring him too. More clubs the better, might drive the price up a bit.
  3. It is due to IMO a combination of factors. Firstly trading of players was quite key to our strategy for some years, deemed pivotal in fact although our FFP meant we needed some sales in summer 2018 too. Covid hit that model somewhat but only somewhat, the team running out of steam also played a role. Left us with a major hole to be filled. The cost base being so high meant that we went into downsize mode, we had to for 18 months to two years. We are now and only now just emerging from this! Lastly the trading model, fact of life although losing on a free if not promoted can be even more detrimental. Brentford obviously traded loads, Nottingham Forest seemed to sell with relative regularity, Stoke have started to- Bursik, Collins and Souttar all directly or otherwise from their academy, along with Campbell seen as jewels in the crown. Of those only Campbell remains. Blackburn sold Armstrong but also took an approach to gamble a bit. They lost as a result: Nyambe, Lenihan, Rothwell and Brereton-Diaz- plus in some ways you could also losing Ayala and Dack although both older on frees doesn't help. However as luck would have it they get 12.5 pct of profit on David Raya as and when he moves! A few clubs have lucked out on sell on clause recently- Birmingham Bellingham, possibly Adams too if he moves on, Blackburn Raya should it materialise. Eze has been in sparkling form lately, wonder if he could move for good money- lucky QPR if so! Stoke also benefited from Collins sell on. We have 3 potential sell on clauses pending and have for over a year. However as (bad) luck has it, Kelly Bournemouth went up and stayed up, Webster signed until 2026 which makes an imminent sale less likely and Brownhill was declared not for sale last summer among the many that Burnley sold and went back up! Wonder when our luck with sell on clauses shall materialise.
  4. Okay it's a bit back of a matchbox but what about. One more year and if Scott could just add one year to the deal- but with a fair but out clause next summer. Chances are that even if he is here beyond this summer his value will fall in the next 12 months as his contract winds down. Always does Really this is the optimum time to sell from a financial perspective but from a football perspective one more year would be great- also don't think one more year continuing to develop grow and flourish here would be too bad either from his perspective. The key time to move is always a difficult one from a development perspective.
  5. I dunno about easily but I have no concerns about breaching either. My best guess was a couple of million clear to May 2023. If there were notable questions we wouldn't have been able to spend on Dickie and McCrorie- by spend I of course mean fees. Ywah was kinda my thinking too. In the case of Klose family reasons, Martin as we've seen has got gametime at QPR. Win-win really. Partial pay-off can be win-win. Helps the club save some wages, gives the players some money and the chance to explore new opportunities.
  6. Suspect it's been taken out of context anyway. If it even was Risdale and that's guesswork on my part due to the Preston connection.
  7. He is on the EFL board a club rep tbh so he would have an idea. Agree I can't see it myself. Had we not sold Semenyo then quite probably but suspect we are okay now. I suspect Risdale if it even was him said nothing of the sort anyway and this is a Twitter user filling in the blanks based on club models who may or may not have an issue.
  8. Random Twitter account but an interesting claim all the same..? Comes in two parts. I woukd in turn ask what of Stoke and potentially Nottingham Forest and maybe even Fulham. If we have questions we are not alone. Sheffield Wednesday too? Is there a question to 2023 or 2024? I assume that he means Risdale? Yeah the chances are that Scott will be sold but even that notwithstanding as it stands I suspect we are in line.
  9. As for dark horses. I dunno- yes we are improving and the home performances especially have stepped up but it is a bit of a way- injuries we need to continue to trend in the tight direction on although the increasing depth will help too. Away from home some good signs but are we creating enough on the road to be. A fairer share of penalties would also be very welcome.
  10. In a true central 3 I could see him fitting better than prior when NP wasn't confident in the 4-3-3, or when Holden and Johnson didn't However the ship has sailed unfortunately. No goals granted but his game wasn't really about that, assists yeah perhaps should have had more od these but to play in a 2 or a 3 with an unnatural 3rd player ie Palmer or whoever, can leave the 2nd true CM exposed and or unbalance the team a bit given the energy of Massengo. Way it is evolving now would have suited a number of the 2019 intake IMO.
  11. The stupid thing was, you fan find quotes from early 2014 from Sepp himself- I know there was corruption- but he was ranting about diving. What did he do however. Not a lot. Head of FIFA, moaned about it- Head of World Football...did bugger all. I do agree with your post, by no means just Italian clubs and anyway I don't recall Napoli or Atalanta in recent times or some others falling over especially easily.
  12. As for Borussia Dortmund and Scott, the only real place I've seen links is on here. They are currently in for Alvarez of Ajax but with Dahoud leaving as well perhaps they will need more than one midfielder. RB Leipzig are also quite good with young players and selling on, article I posted suggested they were interested too- they are in need of a CM with one of theirs heavily linked with Bayern. Regular CL revenue..I expect they could afford Scott.
  13. Had Burnley stayed down, Bournemouth gone down but yeah a tad disappointing. We had a great piece of luck in enticing and being able to back NP now but in general...We aren't the luckiest club with small yet important items.
  14. Knight would be an impressive signing but like others I only think the numbers work if/when Scott sold.
  15. Not for another year at least I expect. Who knows- maybe Webster goes this summer. Another sell-on beneficiary maybe Blackburn with Raya, Maddison Norwich, potentially even Adams and Birmingham again. However it is fair to say we are due! Statistically for none to move is surprising but that said stats aside I'm not too surprised- but we've put in a lot of hard work financially so yeah we are due.
  16. Aston Villa had some serious financial issues at that time, Levy was looking to do what he does. However we have no such concerns.
  17. Credit to West Ham. 2nd half better than first as a game. Happy for Moyes with the Bristol City connection- never knew Bowen got his break at Hereford under Beadle! All 3 goals if we're being picky wers probably avoidable with decent defending but yes credit where it is due. Not some petroclub either much easier to warm to.
  18. New owner, depending on their FFP position etc...that will be key to how much of a go they can have.
  19. Could go either way with Coventry IMO. A lot to replace but a lot of FFP headroom to do so and no longer owned by SISU so able financially do go that a bit more. Claims of £30m for Gykores given last year of contract feel well wide of the mark however!
  20. I'll reserve judgement a bit until the Shrewsbury 2022-23 accounts are out but it seems rather an unfair sacking. To also add, I don't believe Cotts has had the breaks in his management career. This another example- another manager who has not would be NP.
  21. Chairman's statement is a bit drasric. If restructures mean a change of manager these things happen albeit it is unfair but a statement should reflect this, thanking Cotts etc https://www.shrewsburytown.com/news/2023/june/a-statement-from-our-chairman/ This however goes some way above and beyond. Speaks of safeguarding the future etc. Could be PR, scapegoating but a bit drastic.
  22. Unless his wage budget and resources skyrocketed this season then it seems an odd and fairy harsh sacking. Maybe they are trying to break even, owner cash pile declining who knows, could have been behind the scenes budgetary clashes, irreconcilable differences but it seems like Shrewsbury and their loss will be someone else's gain.
  23. Palmer behind Weimann and Afobe seemed quite promising. Palmer behind Weimann and Diedhiou however!! Who knows how that setup might have flourished if not for the Afobe injury..although I had wider reservations about the sustainability of it all and whether we were absorbing too much pressure and could keep doing so. Largely agree with your post though.
