  1. As expected, Durham lose. I believe Glamorgan will win though and it could be a nervy final game. They'll be 16 behind us, away to suddenly out of the running Durham. Still it's in our own hands- I'd much rather be in our position than Glamorgan's! Do we produce a road or a result track next week? We deserve promotion with some of our form, our positive brand of cricket in recent months IMO.
  2. Sussex LOSE! Basically gone in terms of promotion, can't catch us basically and Northants once they complete. Durham 8 down- looking all over for them too given they are chasing around 400. That rules them out. Only slight annoyance then, Glamorgan are away to Durham on last day- and that will now be a dead rubber for Durham, hope they don't send out the kids etc. Glamorgan- barring rain- will surely beat Leicestershire. Most likely will be 16 behind us so still the outsiders.
  3. Good news on the tiebreaking front. According to Cricinfo it's most wins- which if level on points simplifies as you will have won 10 and Essex 9. Unless it's changed to fewest losses taking precedence as this was written a few years ago. Always assumed it was most wins followed by least losses anyway. This tweet also seems to suggest. You need to tbh, need to create a result wicket one way or the other- drawing will be no good- just have to go all in for it.
  4. Genuinely thought you had a shot there- 86/0 and scoring at a fair clip, over 4 an over, even 91/1 not so terrible... Barring weather you will be 12 points behind Essex. Presumably if you win next week you will obtain bowling bonus points in the process, dunno your margin for error. As for us, looks like Sussex will be losing and so too will Durham...but I can't see Leicestershire chasing 424 at Glamorgan or batting 113 overs to save the game. Forgot to add- best of luck v Essex next week- hope to make it a West Country Double- newly promoted Gloucs v the team who became champions for the first time Somerset would have a great ring! At Headingley, Stevens is on ?! Made that double century from 39/5 and in the 4th Innings he has 3/6!
  5. On a general note, decent read. https://www.thetotallyfootballshow.com/feature/why-are-football-league-clubs-selling-their-grounds-to-their-owners/ Was interesting as well to note the following paragraph: As we know about the Times report into the EFL investigation/independent valuations. I wonder which club(s)? ? Could well be to placate. Interesting. So you can basically it seems claim and value on the basis that it will be sold for commercial purposes but continue to play in and lease it back. Which valuation method would this be- DRC, simple RC or something else? Is there no valuation mechanism to assess Fair Market Value in continued current use? That one would seem/feel appropriate in this instance.
  6. Haha, so am I to an extent- I'm not a qualified accountant but I am good with numbers and football clubs creativity in this dept has increased my interest in it- at least football wise!
  7. Wow- won it within the first hour or so, with 0 wickets lost between the start and the winning! Assumed given yesterday it could've been quite awkward. Well done Gloucs! Still taking it one game at a time, just one.
  8. One more general note. This was dated July 4th 2019 this thread, this post. https://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/topic/283140-ground-sale-to-go-through-shortly/ Getting print screens of time and date not so easy but if it was application lodged around that time, Land Registry 28th June 2019, Accounts signed June 21st 2019 and June 20th 2019, accounts due on April 30th 2019 and originally February 28th 2019, Reporting Period to July 31st 2018 and originally May 31st 2018, baffled by the EFL waving this through at the time. Lastly! This was July 4th so same day and yet still listed at Land Registry as owned by SWFC. I know it went through eventually but surely it should have appeared in 2018/19 accounts?? @Davefevs @downendcity any thoughts on how this all fits in, overlaps? One more bit of corroborating- and this time it's dated which helps.
  9. Thanks for the insight- interesting stuff indeed. Post Balance Sheet event seems to show nothing, unless of course it will appear in 2018/19 accounts. I've taken an interest in accounts of late owing to my own company and some of their practices- and like you I have not seen this one- EFL signed it off it seems though which is puzzling. Hopefully the EFL will demand all documentation- to me, Sheffield Wednesday should've remained under a registration embargo all summer for this- no Odubajo, Borner, Scowen, Harris, Murphy- this worthy of stronger investigation maybe than mere valuation questions. Hopefully some others will contribute- someone did ask Kieran Maguire and he said something about "adjusting post balance sheet event". Yet I always rather assumed it would have appeared in 2017/18 accounts listed as such. @29AR you're pretty clued up financially/accounting wise I believe- which category does this fall under in your view? Given all of the oddities in dates, should it not appear as a Post Balance sheet event of some description? It appears under RPT indirectly... Nothing here... That £61,266,677 will be the £60m and EFL market based/adjusted sponsorship presumably - well that and recharged expenses to the Community Programme. Don't see how or why it wasn't listed under 22 though, given all of the varying dates- surely it didn't take nearly 11 months to get it done?? Someone also asked Mike McCarthy to elaborate on his post and point to where it is in the accounts when it came to what he said Post Balance Sheet events but he did not!
  10. 54/4 at the close- PHEW. Should be a very interesting nervy first session or if it drags out 2 sessions?
  11. Thought was 96 overs in the day, yet adding it up as per cricinfo suggests it'll be over 100 by the close...referee umpire!!
  12. I'm superstitious as they come, sport wise. Probably meaningless but tempting fate always gets me alarmed to say the least. Just need to see it out to the close now and go again in the morning...5.2 overs left according to Cricinfo.
  13. 74 with 6! Yes, yes- referee blow your final whistle!
  14. Oooooh now you've gone and done it!! 85 with 8 wickets left on what seems like a lively track...not cut and dried- I remember our loss at Middlesex. Northants to beat Durham- yeah could well be. Sussex to lose score 350 in 2 sessions or 420 in a day. *Sticks fingers in ears* "La la la, looking ahead nah" Looks like Glamorgan might win with maximum points too but we shall see- they play Durham final day. IF we grind it out though, then yeah it's a huge step. If midtable nothing to play for Derbyshire are 327/1 and going at over 5 an over, that suggests pretty well anything is chaseable there if the wicket and conditions stay the same.
  15. Sounds about right. Like I said earlier, you seem pretty uniquely unlucky in title races. Given Essex have had some lively pitches this summer- well I assume so, helps account for their home record, any ECB Inspectors etc? Guessing they're just the right side of the line... @Midred Sounds your best bet. No bad weather forecast.
  16. Will Hampshire be docked points for an inadequate pitch I wonder- or is it conditions based, the flurry of wickets? We're 8/1 chasing 115...will be nervy.
  17. Ha true... It definitely won't be easy- wouldn't surprise were we to lose early wickets. I hope the pressure of the situation, the opportunity doesn't get to us.
  18. Shannon! IF we are steady, we have 2 full days after this weather notwithstanding, attack when possible, defend when necessary- show patience etc...well I'm not saying anymore! ?
  19. The one POSSIBLE positive from it- and there's only one. If somehow it meant the pitch was easing out for a nicer chase- otherwise it's very annoying and in a lowish scoring game, potentially damaging.
  20. 44/6! Barnard gone- Shaw with the breakthrough!
  21. 200 up! Wasn't expecting it at various points of this innings. It's ridiculously tight this battle for the last 2 places though and yet may become tighter still!
  22. God, Glamorgan made 400 after all! Use of part time bowlers perhaps helped take them over the line...this season a unique opportunity for us and indeed Somerset- can either take it?
  23. You guys must be uniquely unlucky in terms of title contenders. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/scorecard/ECKO44787 How on earth Essex won from there...then the Middlesex v Yorkshire debacle 2 years ago. If Kent had even posted 100 in the above then they win probably, title on its way to Taunton. Now the forecast in what has been a nice September looks wet next week!
  24. It's ridiculous to be playing 4 day cricket this late in the season anyway, though I get it from a commercial POV. I know it's not just this season but it's a bit of a nonsense. We've been very lucky with the weather so far. By "we" I don't mean any side in particular, I mean the 2 divisions in general! Plus the 2 Tests, especially at The Oval!
