  1. As I said on the match thread, his arms being suspended up in that weird position is a well known involuntary response (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fencing_response) to a potentially serious injury which is why the medical teams were on so quickly. He will almost certainly be concussed. You can see the challenge/injury and the weird arm thing here if you care to: https://streamja.com/lWqG4 Really hope it's not that bad, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if he was out for a while. Feel for the guy.
  2. Yeah sorry wasn't implying you were blaming them! Just pointing out that the arms involuntarily held up like that will cause an instant response to anyone there. Could be extremely serious
  3. His arms being held up in that weird position is a well known sign of being knocked out and could well be a concussion (and is sometimes a sign of something much worse https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fencing_response) so wouldn't surprise me
  4. Looking at his arms I think Baker was fully out cold then
  5. I feel like "luxury" really just means doesn't put as much as a shift in or maybe has a bad attitude, but people like the player so want a nicer way of phrasing that. It's almost like people don't want their negative qualities to factor into their description, so luxury sounds better than the alternatives. I often struggle to see what exactly makes them a luxury personally - in most other lines of work (and I'm sure we've all worked with a few who are good but don't pull their finger out, for example) they certainly don't get described as a luxury! I'm not sure I'd personally say we have any luxury players in the entire squad currently - if they don't produce the goods AND don't put a shift in they're not a luxury player, they're just not good enough.
  6. In London at an awards do tonight I'm afraid so missed the game entirely
  7. Thanks - see above. I think there are a few ways to do it from relatively simple to extremely complex, but fans still see something in the ground. That article says every 4th frame on the board is an ad and the feed they send out is synced with that. I think they can also put infrared LEDs onto them which a computer can use to know where to overlay the advert - with a bit of logic so players etc still appear in front. Either way fans still get an ad, unfortunately... But it could be dimmer or less intrusive (for the players) you'd hope at least.
  8. I think in the Euros the boards changed dynamically by computer depending on the feed, so they'd appear in the right language, or be appropriate for the country. I remember seeing the same replay from different sources with different boards shown. I think a better long term solution would be to have static ones in the ground, and just overlay their stupid animations on the feed for the TV audiences.
  9. But Tzipi wasn't cancelled was she? I thought LSE allowed her lecture to go ahead, made sure it was successful, and there were protests outside. And our Home Secretary has backed a police investigation INTO the protest against her. So she has state backing. Is that cancelled...? Were the others (Rowling? Trevor Philips?) cancelled, or just had people loudly disagree with them / protest? No cancelling that I can see anywhere there. Unless Trevor Philips, currently presenting a weekly talk show on Sky News, is also cancelled..? How is the data on your second point unequivocal if it's all hidden? Surely studies are being done and published. The NHS don't allow gender reassignment until 18 as far as I know. So that seems to line up with what you're saying is actually "cancelable"? Your story doesn't add up at all. The second part I'd need more information to draw any kind of conclusion.
  10. But if the majority don't agree, then why are people getting cancelled? Surely that goes against the best interests of the business (or whoever) are cancelling them. Maybe I'm misunderstanding. Do you have a couple of examples of people being unfairly cancelled/de-platformed for criticising a radical view?
  11. I think you're misunderstanding. I'm saying that just because they don't practice what they preach doesn't mean their message is wrong - it just means they're hypocrites. It seems like you want to follow a person, rather than the look at the argument they're making. If there is a perfect squeaky clean climate activist you'd be on board, if Greta has made some money and sometimes gets on a jet that means the whole thing isn't worth it. That's a really odd stance to me. I think it's OK to fly sometimes, and eat meat. I eat meat, drive a petrol car, and like the heating on a bit earlier than I should do probably. That doesn't mean I don't think it's an important problem though - it's a scale. I don't think you're a bad person if you have a diesel because you need it. The problem is that the people who are telling us (the messengers) are in general the ones it wont affect. Like with most of these things, it will affect the poorest here and especially abroad first. That's why it's important to look at the argument, not the person telling you it. As I said, what people really need to focus on are large scale changes far outside anything you or I could directly affect. I think it's an intentional tactic to try and push responsibility down onto us while the ones in charge basically pay lip service (if that) to it... or actively work against it. Same with covid - push the responsibility down to normal people so we all fight with each other, while everything goes to hell in the background.
  12. The truth is that individual changes (e.g. you changing from diesel to electric or me using a refillable washing liquid thingy) are a drop in the ocean on the grand scheme of things. I read recently that if you or I lived an entirely neutral life regarding emissions, it wouldn't even be the equivalent of 1 second of the global energy sector. That doesn't mean we shouldn't do them imo, but we need real systematic, society level changes. I don't see how it's virtue signaling if they're clearly not doing it themselves at the same time? Surely that's the opposite? Greta flies around, sure. Does that make her message wrong? It's a classic "You complain about society yet you live in society how curious" thing. Do you expect her to live in a mud hut and wear rags? One reason they can't be bothered is that they're lobbied with amazing amount of money by the fossil fuel industry. The largest delegation to COP26 was the fossil fuel industry, more so than any single country. It may be hypocrisy, but people use that as an excuse to ignore the argument and just attack the messengers so they don't have to bother changing. We're all going to be f*cked (or rather, my 1yr old son may well be) if that keeps happening.
  13. "Other people do bad things so why should I stop?" Bringing out the secondary school level arguments I see

Last time it said: "City’s Chief Executive Officer will join Geoff Twentyman on the Sound of the City show from 6pm." Think you're probably right though... suppose we'll know one way or the other in an hour!

https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/gould-on-sound-of-the-city/ "The City chief executive will update fans in conversation with Geoff Twentyman from 6pm." Will update...? Interesting wording?

Hope people don't get too mad if this turns out to be a load of bollocks. Threads like this are what OTIB is all about, I love it!
  17. Funny this is if we hadn't appointed Pulis we'd probably be saying he was a missed opportunity and what a typical cock up it was by City to not appoint him. Promotion to the prem with Stoke, multiple good premiership finishes at different clubs, never been relegated. Just goes to show how managers can fit some clubs and not others.
  18. I think it looks less bad from the behind the goal angle: https://streamja.com/6WJ3m That one above makes it look a lot worse than it was imo.
  19. Some great rage from the home fans on the commentary
  20. Very soft pen but Vyner was completed done by him earlier and ended up the wrong side. Shame as I thought he'd had a really good game so far. Still got a good chance as they're down to 10 men!
