  1. The analysis did say a lot of people would die if we did nothing. That's now (look on this very thread) being used as a reason that it was wrong. Why do you support the government "encouraging" (how???) people to change their unhealthy lifestyles such as obesity, but you don't support the government encouraging people to get jabbed or prove they are? Can you not also see that the former is a long term issue - it wont be solved in weeks, months, or even years. The same goes for "beefing up" the health services - it's not an issue of money. Our government printed hundreds of billions last year, and can print literally as much money as it wants thanks to the BoE. These things take time and resources, not money. Covid only hospitals? So my partner when giving birth at short notice last year, where does she go with 2 days notice? She's in the covid one, the non covid one, or a third type? Three hospitals like that everywhere? And in places that don't have two or three hospitals? What about the staff? What about the one hospital in 100 miles with a specialist center people need? What about the children's hospital we have here? Why would developing anti-virals be better than a vaccine? You talked about your anger of people making money from the jabs and profiting from the pandemic earlier. Are these anti virals developed for free out of thin air? Your better solution is to let more people catch it, and sell drugs to try and solve it? Part of the issue is that often once people are ill enough to need treatment - your anti virals - they're so ill they need to go to hospital. So your drugs don't help at all there, they're already taking up valuable space. Makes more sense to prevent that surely? Again - promoted diet, exercise, and so on - government interference is ok there? And the ones who don't do it? That's not authoritarian? I'd look forward to your avatar of McDonalds burgers in the shape of a swastika in your alternate reality. Sounds to me like that you want to just remove all the bits that affect you personally (having to be jabbed, show a QR code, wear a mask, whatever) and push that burden onto other people (stay inside if you're ill, change your life if you're fat, just take drugs if you get really sick). None of it makes any sense.
  2. You can still get in by registering a negative lateral flow, don't worry. No idea on your other point though, sorry!
  3. Ah yes that's how they name the variants. You've got to be kidding me. Tell me Harry... is any of the media in the room with you right now? Can you see them?
  4. Do you not also equally accept there are many who would profit greatly from not having any restrictions? Who are equally elite and in the ear of the government? Haven't we already built the app and bought the jabs? So it'd perhaps only benefit a small handful of your elites to do this, most of whom aren't even UK based, so why would our government be appeasing them..? Why are the other governments?
  5. I'll be at the home games as I have a season ticket, so away only I'm afraid - until we get kicked out completely!
  6. Lets be honest, the vast majority who questioned restrictions wouldn't and didn't accept ANY analysis which agreed with the restrictions. They didn't want a "cost benefit analysis", however you'd even do that. They wanted something to tell them we didn't need them - because they'd made up their mind on day 1 already. There was and is a wealth explaining how and if the various restrictions work, they just didn't accept it - and still don't. Look on this very thread, you have people saying the jab is ineffective even while every single metric shows the exact opposite. Additionally the fact that people still seem to think if we didn't have restrictions everyone with a missed a appointment would have got one is bizarre to me. You do understand our heathcare system was basically at breaking point even WITH the incredible restrictions we faced? During the lockdown this time last year we had almost 2, 000 patients per DAY admitted, and 20k in hospital. Can you imagine it with no restrictions at all?
  7. You have helped the vulnerable, and life has been largely back to normal for a fair while now hasn't it? Compare the last few months to this time last year. National lockdown I think? I don't understand this thought process where we pick a path and just never react or deviate from it no matter what happens - probably fuelled by our idiotic government to be fair!
  8. I think it's all just incremental mitigations, none are going to completely prevent anything. Getting jabs, wearing a mask, taking a test, lockdowns - none are 100%, but in combination they're more effective. Being jabbed does reduce transmission it looks like, as well as obviously meaning if you did get it you're less likely to be a burden on the healthcare system. People can always find a way to cheat the system just like they have with fake IDs to get beer when kids or getting paid cash in hand for a job... The bottom line imo is those selfish people are contributing to this situation. I'm yet to see anyone against the jabs/tests/masks/lockdowns/whatever ever come up with a single thing they suggest instead (not you obviously). It's easy to just be blindly anti everything while having zero suggestions for a route forwards yourself... Just look at our match day threads!!
  9. Lots of diseases we're vaccinated against have high survival rates. It also isn't just about that as I'm sure you know - it's about transmission and the healthcare burden. I guess your last sentence is where we differ. I'd rather not die before my time due to something preventable if I can at all help it! I'm in my mid 30s and want to see us in the prem ffs..!
  10. You can download and print your pass, and also ask for a letter to be sent to you in the post - see here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/covid-pass/ I'd expect they'd have to accept them.
  11. Being additionally protected from a disease which has cause a global pandemic lasting almost 2 years now with millions dead, and not losing your job into the bargain isn't enough benefit then presumably...?
  12. I rated Cook (and still do) so will be interested where he goes next, and gets a chance to make a proper go at it. Think he'll definitely look back on this as not the worst thing that's ever happened to him - or maybe he already is!
  13. But the vast majority, in fact almost the entire thread apart from one poster are being balanced and defending him. Not much of a scapegoat? And in fact the person who doesn't rate them is just saying he doesn't think they're good enough. That's not what a scapegoat is...
  14. I thought he was bright and got in some decent positions, but ultimately didn't really produce anything. Flattered to deceive a bit for me.
  15. I was being a bit flippant, but the reality is a lot of people probably wouldn't even have one of Martin, Wells, Weimann, or Semenyo starting the majority of our games in an ideal world, let alone at least two of them. Martin has played every game, with 5 goals and 4 assists. I actually think that's as decent a return as could be expected. Not great, but decent. Wells has about 40% of the mins, and 1 goal 1 assist. That's probably a bit unfair on him as it obviously takes time to get up to speed, arguably especially for a striker, but I think "give Wells a chance" isn't really fair either - he's had lots of chances. Definitely disagree he did more than Martin today. I thought Martin actually looked better than he has for a bit (even given his poor miss). More balls into his feet, some neat flicks round the side, and chasing into the channels which isn't his game and probably not what he wants to be doing. It was a 6 / 10 for me, maybe a 7 at a stretch, and that's fine.
  16. Who would you replace him with, and how would you play to accommodate them?
  17. I was just heading through the gate as it happed at a few mins to 3, me and one bloke probably in his 50s said something and got an earful as they tried to push past. As usual the idiot ringleader at the front pushed through, his meek friends just stood there when I moved in their way and made them wait behind me! Like you said all it needed was one steward on the other side rather than 4 stood behind the gate (2 "scanning" 2 chatting)... doing basically nothing!!
  18. Was an absolutely huge queue on Raynes road, and when we got to the front they weren't even scanning people properly or doing anything really. A load of prats with about 2 shared brain cells between them just barging in at the front and giving anyone who said anything an earful as well.
  19. That pic is from the BBC... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/league-one/table https://www.efl.com/clubs-and-competitions/sky-bet-league-one/league-table/ https://www.skysports.com/league-1-table I'll hold up some fingers, as that's apparently how you communicate with "not the brightest" fans on games in hand (oh the irony):
  20. 2 games in hand? More like one game in hand over 3rd and 4th, and 2nd have one game in hand on them.
  21. With Semenyo on the pitch we seem to be playing into Martin's feet more, and the long balls are going over the top for Semenyo to run on to instead. Working a bit better imo
  22. Wow. Brings into context what I think Pearson said about wanting a flatter wage structure at the club. While I don't think money is a good motivator of people, unfairness in wages (real or perceived) can definitely be a huge demotivator. Maybe it's ignored when things are going well, but I'm sure there are a few glances around and discussions about the minutes on the pitch / wages that go on when things aren't looking so good and tensions are running a bit high. Just shows how many factors there are to sorting the squad out, and what a negative impact poor (or unnecessary signings) can have on the club even if you ignore the raw impact on our finances.
  23. Are we even seeing it more often now, or is it just conformation bias mixed in with the fact as soon as anything happens you get a bunch of anti-vax idiots gleefully using someone else's misfortune to confirm their ignorance, which makes it much bigger news than it used to be?
  24. Oh come on. After Saturday's game you made 3 posts late on, all negative and complaining. After Wednesday's win, we got one. Mentioning how the performance wasn't good. Today? We've had 6 in the last 30 minutes.
