Think the word scapegoat is in danger of losing all meaning at this point. Big difference between pointing out mistakes or saying someone isn't good enough with reasons to them being a scapegoat.

Think this summer will be massive. We have to accept a few will probably leave, and we just have to hope they're ones who most of us think won't be too detrimental to the long term goal - O'Dowda, Wells, Palmer, Moore, etc. We'll of course get a few in, but I'm personally not expecting many who will be ready to go on day 1. Maybe a couple of frees very similar to Klose - but they can be pretty hit and miss as we well know. Then a couple of youngsters from lower leagues, your Atkinsons and Tanners... they probably won't be really ready for 6 months to a year. The bit I'm excited for it is if Pearson can bring in a few from abroad as he did at Leicester, then I won't know what to expect. If it all clicks, I can see us having a decent go next year. If not, it's the one after for me - provided we can find a way to hang out to our current stars. Either way, exciting times, and I haven't said or felt that in years now.

Well said. Might "only" be a point a far as the table is concerned, but performances like that are much better progress towards our ultimate objective than a scrappy 1-0 win we steal in the last minute. There's progress in the table, and progress on the pitch. They aren't always exactly representative of each other, and I've seen a lot of the latter this last month.

Hah, I just realised the article only says "Peter" once and I missed it! Either way, the point is the same.

So on one side we have Leicester's goalkeeper of the last 10 years with almost 400 appearances for them. (Just realised it's Peter, but same thing really) The "counter" of "group think" is a tabloid article about a tweet by the girlfriend of a player, who wasn't picked by Pearson. It's like when you see a "balanced" debate on something like climate change, with 1 "pro" and 1 "anti". It's just not at all representative of weight of opinion or context.

I thought he was good too, as well as his throwing when he first joined - I remember being impressed, although that might have been partially in comparison to Fielding. Max has been better recently, but I'm not convinced Bentley can't be (or hasn't been in the past) as good or better with his play along the back and distribution. There have been two big changes - O'Leary starting, and Semenyo starting. We've been playing slightly differently as a result. I'm currently of the opinion that Semenyo starting is the main reason we're playing differently from the back, rather than O'Leary starting. That then makes me wonder if it's a coincidence - whether it just happened to be similar timing that Pearson thought Bentley needed a rest and Antoine was ready.
