Why not sell the rights to a “free to view” channel then everyone can watch! Otherwise yet another monthly or annual cost to consider …. Is it worth it??

Couldn’t agree more - Max seems to think twice about getting in where it hurts - and by the time he’s thought about it the ball is in the net! Max has the makings of a good goalkeeper but he still has lots to learn - especially “when to come and when to stay on his line” - but I have always felt that he dithers too much, whereas Bentley makes the decision instantly and tries to execute - admittedly, like keepers similar to David James, Grobbelar, etc that decision, whilst decisive, will sometimes be wrong! Thankfully yesterday - the whole defence made the right decisions!

One of the big differences was when we made a few errors - and we did (the ball was allowed to flash across our goal a couple of times) the opposition didn’t capitalise - either because the defence was shielding the other strikers or the ball was just too far away! Pretty much everyone played well and did what they were asked to do - it was a good team performance and for once we got just about what we deserved! These games are much more enjoyable to watch than the drab football we’ve had to put up with over the past few seasons! Roll on Tuesday!

As others have said - considering how the club have managed these events before, I was concerned this may be another disaster - but I was delighted and impressed at the whole thing - topped off by Geoff Merrick saying how much he had enjoyed the past 3 days. And whoever agreed with both teams and the ref - that the teams would open up and allow the 8 to walk off the pitch through them to applause - did another great job. Im really hoping someone has kept a video diary of the 3 days which could be sold on DVD - and then all the proceeds to go to the 8. Does anyone know if this is planned?

In my opinion Dan Bentley had a really great game. In the first half he made a few “this is my penalty area” saves and got down where it hurts without a second thought - which, with due respect, I don’t believe Max would have done that! In the second half he made the one save low to his right to push a long shot around the post and a few other very very good saves - which we have come to expect from him. I really hope he and Pearson can put their supposed differences behind them and he can keep his position in goal for the rest of the season. As has be said for many a year - a quality goalkeeper is worth many points a season - had Max been in goal yesterday - I’m not sure we would have won that!

From the Lansdown side - I thought he had a good first half - unusually like many he was not afraid to get his card out when needed and couldn’t argue with any bookings. With the free kick he gave us when Weimann broke - he was parallel with me and is body was slightly turned against Weimann and I could see what he was trying to do - but annoyingly Weimann broke slightly on his blind side and when he realised instantly apologised. I happened to say to those I sit with how much better I thought he was just as he have a free kick against J D-S in front of the South Stand which was totally shocking - and from then on he seemed to lose all the confidence he’d had before to make his own decisions and was constantly tricked by Boro players falling all over the place. The free kick against Martin (shoulder barge) in the second half was laughable. I only hope he watches his performance back and sees his mistakes! At least he didn’t get a second yellow out for Alex Scott - which I’m sure a few may have been tempted!

And that since streaming started scheduled 3pm Saturday games could never be shown live in the UK. This game was scheduled for yesterday at 3pm = No TV!! It really isn’t difficult to understand!! ??

The game is a scheduled Saturday 3pm game hence not allowed for uk viewing. Just because kick off was changed by clubs/Police doesn’t change this. Always the case!

Back to League One today - MK Dons v Ipswich! 6 yellows but only awarded 16 free kicks between the two teams! Lets hope he stays down there!

Nige doesn’t suffer fools gladly - so surely a competent reporter would know that and prepare good open questions for him to answer - if they don’t then they deserve what they get! And the second two got what they deserved!!

I really felt Langford contributed to making the game a poor spectacle. As said above simple respect from the players was non existent - free kicks taken from the wrong place, allowing the Reading forwards to stand in front of Max and not being booked to name two. His awarding of free kicks for gentle knocks was appalling (this was supposed to have been reversed this season allowing more physical contact), and also as mentioned before the time he took to blow his whistle when giving free kicks was baffling. All in all - a 3/10 performance at best! It would really be interesting to know how the EFL referee assessor saw his performance! Perhaps a clue will be which games he is asked to ref in the coming weeks - hopefully League 1 or 2! Thank goodness we won - everyone would me much more frustrated had we not!

As per the rest of the tournament the Ref’s are shocking!

Posh drew - equaliser in injury time

I heard on Saturday from a lady who sits near me that Bentley and Pearson have fallen out big time and that Pearson wants him out! You would think we would get more money for him if he was playing in the team rather than warming the bench!

Max just doesn’t try to have any presence. At least if he tried and failed he might get some credit - but standing on his line he is always going to be beaten!

Those were easy bookings - Eltringham just needs to book their players getting in the way of free kicks Pathetic refereeing
