I am biased as I only live a few miles away from their factory here in Northern Ireland.

I haven't seen the new City product in the flesh but I have seen many other O'Neills products in the past. They are very well made and look good too.

I know we are all entitled to our opinions but it isn't O'Neills that is to blame here. Having lived previously in Stoke-on -Trent, a friend of mine was the supervisor for making football shirts for various companies before they could be made cheaper in Asia.

Consequently I got the Admiral and Nibor kits given to me for next to nothing.

I was also given the demo shirts that were made and sent to BCFC for them to decide whether or not to have that particular shirt. This process surely makes sense and O'Neills must have had the shirts signed off before going into mass production.

All their other sportswear/leisure wear that my son has is of very good quality. I do the washing and they are more than fine a year on.

If we had Castore in 2016, there would have been meltdown on here as they were a start up company and nobody would've heard of them.

The fault lies with whoever signed off the demo shirts on behalf of BCFC.

The Man City points, however, are more than valid even if I like blue as a basic colour. Without clear reference it could easily be Coventry City leisurewear. Is that O'Neills at fault? Very doubtful.

Finally, if I can personally vouch for other O'Neills leisure/training/sportswear why is the City shirt causing so much anger?  Has O'Neills been told to work within a budget? BCFC at fault here and not O'Neills.

PS I have no family connection at all with O'Neills.

    Spot on.

It may come as a surprise, but this is a football stadium for a league one club...

Say what you want about the mem, because it is an absolute shithole of a football ground, but I do love seeing out over the Bristol skyline in the sun.

We've all seen the decent saves on motd but we haven't seen how he was on crosses and commanding the box and this is why he was allowed to leave. As I've said on a thread on Max before people need to look at all keepers, not just ours, to see mistakes made that would leave some of our forum sages reaching for expletives (see Mendy's horrendous flap for Forest's 1st goal yesterday for instance)

Never understood the hype around Mendy. Certainly not a number 1 for a team with title aspirations.

Aren't O'Neills big in Ireland with Gaelic football shirts.

Can any fellow reds living in the Emerald Isle give us an idea of the quality of those shirts?

Have we just picked the lowest quality shirts possible - or are all of their kits questionable?

I’m not from Ireland but have played Gaelic football and my other half plays camogie. O’Neills GAA range is fine quality. No better or worse than any other manufacturer.

So not sure what’s gone wrong with our kit. I’ve not seen it up close in the flesh, but I do wonder if some people just like having a moan because we didn’t negotiate a new deal with Hummel or sign with a “high street brand” like adidas or puma - both of whom were utterly crap suppliers for us.

Bentley might have made more dramatic saves, but had sod all command of his box, and was shit with his distribution, Max on the other hand might make the odd ticket, but you trust him to come and catch or punch and get the ball moving quickly. I’d argue on that front Max is the better keeper

Sadly, this is the way the game seems

    to be going.

In another 10 years time, Pep’ll have Man City playing with a fly goalkeeper (see Futsal for context).

  6. I have enjoyed portions of the season, others not so much. We are starting to become a bit more consistent but the inconsistency which plagued us earlier this season was damn frustrating.

Similarly with the squad, some players I enjoy watching and others I find to be just occupying a position that needs addressing in the summer.

  7. Bring back the guy from the 03/04 season who actually generated a bit of energy in the ground with his thunderous “comeeeeeeee onnnnnnn youuuuuu redsssssss” before kick off. Don’t know his name, but he sticks out in the memory.

Also, while I’m feeling nostalgic for 03/04, bring back red n’ white nights!

  8. I’m really gutted about this. He’s a fantastic local broadcaster and I love both SOTC and the scrum. I remember sitting with my dad listening to the Friday night phone in many years ago too. Sad times, as whoever replaces him won’t be of the same caliber.

We dumped Holly Willoughby and ended up with Anne Widdecombe.

I personally never liked this shirt, and still struggle to see the appeal of it. To me, this kit was bland and uninspiring.

But I have to agree with comments already made in this thread that the new third shirt looks washed out, and the badge is a bit of a farse.

What does annoy me a little (not so much in this thread, but elsewhere on the forum) is that some people seemed to have made their mind up on O’Neills purely because they’re an Irish/Gaelic supplier, which I think is unfair. As someone who’s dabbled in the Gaelic sports, O’Neills gear has never let me down and certainly is (in my experience) better than TFG. I think that comparison is a bit harsh tbh.

That being said, it doesn’t matter too much. Since I have this collection of classics to wear anyway ;)

Unless we were to suddenly re employ streaky lee and go on one non win runs we are pretty safe. We are 14 pints above safety and we would now pretty much have to lose every game left this season to go down.

A thought on streaky Lee, now if we were to go on one of his win runs, top 6 would be on.

14 pints above safety? Didn’t realise the EFL had changed over to 3 pints for a win. This is a change I can very much get behind ;)
