Good spot, not obvious it could be anyone else.

Also interesting the officials? you can see. Already presumably looks like one to see if the ball has crossed the line, two ‘lineman’ on the same side? Decent crowd!

Yes looks to be a chap in a dark coloured uniform, and then potentially another official in a red shirt?

Wasn’t the offside rule quite different in this era also? That might explain it…

  2. Chap on the line looks to be wearing gloves. Could he be the keeper? Don’t think it was mandatory for keepers to wear an alternate colour in this era, but could be wrong. Think they were usually denoted by wearing a cap of sorts?

  3. Hi all, so I’m wondering: is it possible to get a club shop voucher worth more than £5 with the points? If not, can more than one voucher be used per transaction?

Secondly, anyone else on here got both football and rugby season tickets? This is my first season with both, and just wondering how the rugbys version of the rewards scheme works? Whenever I login it auto defaults to the city page…

    cheers!

It wasn't the collar you had to worry about...it was the material. Serious nipple rub back in those days ??

That yellow and blue away kit is lovely though.

Would love that as an away kit.

We had a yellow and blue away kit in 2011/12 season. Notable for the club “donating” the principle shirt sponsorship to the Community Trust:

  5. I’ve just unhidden my expired passes and hey presto, the Birmingham tickets have appeared. Date and time of the match is correct, so hopefully all is in order.

Thinking about it, might get to the ground 5 mins earlier… just in case…

I loved the "Arsenal" shirt, I know some will question identify or whatever but it was something different. Bit of a collectors item in the future I reckon

Agree. It’s not exactly popping up on eBay in great numbers, suggests people hanging onto it.

On the subject of vintage shirts, whoever it was who drove the price up of the 93/94 shirt on eBay… boo to you.

Price of vintage city shirts is getting ludicrous.

We hoped so but last year when Baker had to retire we didn't even have leeway it seemed to add Bamba on a free!

Things have improved but NP seemed to indicate we were towards the top of the wage budget.

I often take what NP says with a pinch of salt. There will be more flexibility in the budget than he publicly implies, but we aren’t going to allow ourselves to be fleeced (thankfully those MA days are behind us).

I knew you were @Super - but you know what: @Nogbad the Bad and I sometimes disagree on politics and occasionally we see the game differently, but he's spot on: pie & chips plus a pint or two MAKES a football day out. If we get 3 points, we can digest it all better. ?

Exactly, can’t believe it was so hard for some posters to get that way back at the start of this thread.

BCFC - you can stick your ******* donuts/doughnuts up your arse. Get the kiosks stocked up with an adequate amount of grub and not those god awful ******* hot dogs.

Should not be running out of food at 40 minutes into the first half, simples.

I really think we all need to move away from this ‘it’s S82’s fault’….- let’s face it half of the people in there, if not more  are there because they were the cheapest tickets - not so they can have a sing song.
The club dug themselves a huge hole by designating it ‘the singing area’.  They also don’t help things by making any crowd based piece of social media being accompanied by a pic of S82 as opposed to any other area of the ground.  It gives a false picture of what’s actually going on around the whole ground.  Makes it look great when it’s not.
The singing area designation gives every other area of the ground an excuse not to sing -  ‘oh it’s ok - we will leave it up to the lads in the corner’.   It is not that corner of the ground’s responsibility to create the atmosphere - it’s all of ours.
So I think the ‘singing section’ should be de badged and maybe some kind of campaign launched (flyers, social media, posters) by the club or by the supporters club - or by both - to actively encourage noise around the ground.  It would have to be sustained and joined up  - it won’t change overnight - but it can be done.
These amazing atmospheres we see in Germany for example dont just happen - lots and lots of work and coordination is put into it - but it can be done.  Possibly I’m just talking crap / pie in the sky stuff - but something needs to be done as it’s now truly truly dreadful down AG.

ps @OddBallJim not picking on you btw - just using your post as an example as many people say it!

It’s ok, I get what you’re trying to say.

FWIW some of the best atmospheres at games that I have attended have been under the designated “Red & White Nights” circa 2003-2006. I would really like to see these return tbh.

Also, as has been mentioned many times, bin off Downsy who does nothing but sterilise the atmosphere even further.

  10. I think we lack the hostility of the old EE tbh, and that has definitely worsened the atmosphere. Part of the charm/idiosyncrasies of the pre-refurb AG was that it felt like you were right up against the pitch (particularly in the old dolman lower tier and the front of the EE). Now it seems like the pitch is quite distant. Section 82 is a good effort, but not up to scratch in all honesty.

I never understand going to a football match & then missing nearly 10 mins of the match to go & stand in a queue.

It's like people who start heading for the exits on 80/85 mins...

Always makes me wonder why they bother going in the first place.

In fairness, I was at the Mansfield match - so would never leave a game early.!

I needed a wee and I was hungry? Jheez.

Isn't half time quite a good time for kiosks to be selling out.?

Having covered pre-match & into the interval..? I'm sure they'd prefer that to having loads left in the hope of shifting them at the end of the game.

Running out during half time seems pretty good to me & nobody is going to starve in the coming hour until they can get something elsewhere.

Not when you consider I got in the queue at 40 mins (I.e. still in the first half technically).

    ******* crap.

  13. I suppose another negative was the painfully flat atmosphere throughout the match, only livened up by some suspect refereeing. Not sure how we address this, and clearly with a significant portion of people attending under mates rates tickets, it isn’t an easy fix.

The bursting of that optimism bubble never gets any easier.

That aside, have I misunderstood the narrative about pre season and a big part of our team ethos?

I was under the impression that we were going to be all about stamina and fitness in order to be employ a high press / high energy style.

I saw no press today. Very lethargic in and out of possession, unlike PNE, who hassled us throughout.

Even with my realistic head on, I was very disappointed today.

No press,  lost out on most second balls, no dynamism with the ball. I think energy is a huge part of what was missing today. Just can't work out why.

I agree with all of this, plus we still look mentally weak and naive as a squad.

I'd like to meet the genius who replaced the pasty concession in the Dolman with donuts.

Maybe the crowds of kids that sit in the Lansdown like donuts at football, but the average age in the Dolman is about 62 - and I can tell you that English men just do not wanna munch donuts at football. It's a winter-based game FFS - and we're not Americans!

I want to laugh at this, but I can’t you’re spot on. ******* stupid idea.
