  1. I can normally find positives in our defeats thus far, however today we simply were awful and throughly deserved what we got. Not good enough and we have nothing on the bench to change a game.
  2. In other news luke shaw has just suffered a horrific injury... Both teams medical staff attending to him.
  3. In regards to our unchanged line up, Einstein comes to mind: Insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
  4. Just back from the game, a bit of an essay coming up so hang on with me. As a team, we have retained the spirit and togetherness that defined great swathes of our campaign last year. What we are lacking now, is the ability to produce quality comparable with the standard expected in this league. Individual errors are costing us massively and former stalwarts are beginning to look questionable as to whether they should be in the team, but more on that later... The train up was a good laugh. Managed to scout out a group of city lads from the crate of thatchers on the table. Was told by the WM police that the place to be was the Briar Rose - walk in to find it like a scene from the inbetweeners movie (dead). Never mind eh! Got chatting to a couple of decent city lads and ended up heading to the match with them. Enter St Andrews - a bit of a dissapointment of a ground if I'm being honest! I've not been there in 10 years and clearly nothing has changed since! Whilst it is a decent ground, the rejeuvenated Ashton Gate will wipe the floor with it. The game itself was more of the same old really. Despite the addition of two premier league quality centre backs and the return of fan favourite Frankie Fielding, we looked more pourous as a team than ever, with the second goal a particular frustration - it literally seemed as though Birmingham were able to cut through us like a knife through butter. Kodjia is continuing to improve and again got himself on the score sheet which was pleasing. He also looked (at times) like the only player willing to ruffle the feathers of the Birmingham team. By this I mean, as a team, sometimes we are simply too honest. We chastise the opposition for wasting time, blocking quick free kicks and the like yet don't cotton on to do the same ourselves. Fielding made no real difference, although he did sweep up a few crosses. I need to see the penalty again to make a decision on whether it was/wasn't but from the long distance view I had, it looked soft. On that subject, the referee gave the majority of 50/50 decisions to the home team so clearly couldn't handle the pressure of a potentially boistrous game. I was particularly baffled as to why we didn't look to Agard to change the game and more enfuriatingly as to why Cotterill continues to persevere with Wilbraham who looked so far off the pace today he may as well have still been playing against Burnley. Serious questions need to be asked as to whether he is up to this league (imo). Freeman's inclusion in the team will have pleased the majority of fans (myself included) but I found myself becoming increasingly dissapointed with his first touch which looked (understandably) off the mark at times. If we did learn one thing from today it's that Ayling is most definately not a RWB - outdone for pace and guile virtually everytime, which made a good footballer look well out of his depth. Overall a good day out, but MASSIVE improvement is needed from team and manager.
  5. Woah woah woah, let's not get hasty now. Jeff Lynne is a boss.
  6. HALF TIME: Despite dominating the half, city go back to the dressing room with a 2 goal deficit to over come. It's the same problems that have maligned city's campaign to date - a lack of clinical finishing when presented with chances, combined with individual errors being punished. Burnley lead against the run of play, it will take an inspired half from the reds to come back as they did against leeds.
  7. 4 fat builders, the keepers dad, a couple of joggers and an old man with his dog. Oh sorry that's the memorial hole.
  8. True! Was never a massive fan of Wade, but I must admit I want him back in the side badly. It's surely going to be discussed at some stage I would imagine. Probably 5pm on Tuesday when our latest attempt to sign someone falls through.
  9. One thing I'm feeling good about today is the fact we have a true city fan in goal. That extra bit of passion that makes it personal could do wonders for our team spirit.
  10. A good read again Havan. I like the new format and enjoyed the discussion about Brentfords early history
  11. It is very disappointing to have to use a work around though. The functionality should be there to upload straight from computer/ ipad/ phone. It is 2015 after all. Regarding threads, carry on Havan. Although, you might like to spice things up a bit by trying to get a few guests in from time to time I.e. Opposition fans, or other forum members, to contribute a paragraph or two.
  12. What I'll say is, he's never acted directly towards me in a negative fashion. So don't think that this is a personal dig at the chap. But when I have seen him out in Bristol at a shop/club/ venue the phrase "big man on campus" is immediately obvious. Or should that be "big time Charlie"? Now, some will be saying if this was after our promotion then so be it, he has the right to demand the adulation of the common folk around him. But this stretches back to his first season with us sadly.
  13. Having seen him numerous times out in Bristol, I can only disagree with you Harry.
  14. Having just seen the highlights package I have a few thoughts: Regarding the goals I feel fielding could've done better on both. The first isn't that far away from him, I'd attribute it to a lack of match sharpness. The FF from last season also wouldn't be diving for that, quick feet across and he makes the save. Perhaps he's still lagging a big from injury? The second goal is exactly the kind of insane head rush he had when he first joined us, the ball was always going to swing away from him, why attempt to challenge it? Lunacy. Sheffield Wednesday had good chances and I was particularly disappointed to see Ayling losing the flight of the ball in the air - something that is a fundamental skill for any central defender. Equally Flint gave their forward the ball on a plate in the chance which was blazed over the bar. This was exactly the kind of act without thinking action Flint used to do under SOD - again I'm going to say for both of these players they look like they are lacking match sharpness. Burns should've had a penalty - impressed by the strength he showed to hold off two players surging forwards, I like that very much. And he was clearly elbowed in the back. Sadly the referee would have to be in exactly the right position to see it so I can see why he didn't give it even if I don't believe the correct decision was made. Little else of note in a 3 minute video summary.
  15. Felt we were the better side, game changed after first goal, felt Sheffield had something to sit back on. Felt that the mistakes we made today had been made in league one. Now the unconvincing part: "are you looking forward to two home games now Steve?" "um...probably... " Wtf?
