Big Red Rich
Quite an interesting topic seeing as many people talk about work but rarely say what their job is. As for Robbored's job, would never have guessed that one but fair play, good job. Very handsome salary aswell. Dezgimed, what do you ploan to do when you finish uni? Have a guess at other forum users jobs; Nibor - job in IT? Bristol Boy - some management job in Rail Big Red Rich - car salesman? Not too sure. DanC - some sort of factory work? I'm not a car salesman! I own and run a vehicle leasing company specialising in fleets of cars and vans to companies and organisations!! Not exciting but at least I don't have a boss! zookeeper
Well my current internship is in the finance (tax) department with a MNC. And despite being asked back, it really isnt for me. I think I need to be somewhere where finance is the business, not a function. Possibly in practice too as opposed to industry. I used to think accounting would be good, but from what I've seen/done, it isnt. So I hope to focus on something I enjoy doing, which would be more economics based. If that means being someones bitch researching markets, so be it. I am on course for a 1st Class Degree classification, and have had a pretty successful internship (based on results/achievements) so am not afraid to apply to some big banks, but I fear my A-levels will hinder alot of opportunities. Who knows.. I work as a management accountant and enjoy it. A tax internship wouldn't interest me either so don't be put off immediately. It won't take too long to get to a position where you are at the forefront of decision making. Ultimately finance drives most things both private and public sector so I wouldn't dismiss it. I would think it would be the wrong sort of time to join a bank with the credit crunch set to worsen.

On the plus side, it'll be another decade before we see a crunch of such magnitude again.

On the plus side, it'll be another decade before we see a crunch of such magnitude again. It'll probably be another 18 years. However it will be 5 - 6 years of continued recession and staganation before the economy starts to pick-up again. If the banks admitted what their real write-downs were they wouldn't get away with these rights issues, they would just be going bust. Or 15 - 20 years if you believe Nikolai Kondratieff's theories. Gaffer
Financial Advisor - mainly investments and pensions. Interesting time for the likes of me at the minute, but if you've got the b*ll*cks to invest at the height of the crunch, you should make a fortune within 5 years. The last time the markets were panicing and low (around the time we went into iraq) the markets doubled in value within 5 years. Invest now and secure your financial future! If anyone wants some financial advice, PM me! No up front or exit fees with any of my investments...and no commision to pay! God bless City fan Andy Hornby...! One Team In Keynsham
I'm sure I've asked this at least twice before, but I'm at that curious age regarding working life. It would interest me to know what all you people do, with earnings if you're big enough to say. I think I know some.. Robbored - NHS Dolly - Charity with kids?? Malone - Retired living in a rubber room :noexpression: Something rather mundane with software in a less-than-mundane part of the world, earning rather more than I probably deserve. madmax
Trained in Company Law but been out of that for ten despite still working for the same Company. Now I'm an IBM iSeries (AS/400) administrator. We run websites on this system as well as Lotus Domino/Notes etc.... We have a 3tb iASP on all our systems and now host all our own Company House images from accounts, annual returns etc.. so we no longer rely so heavy on Companies House and Experian etc...
