Caravaggio you have been referring to the wrong report.

I refered to the "recent report", which was a report carried out by a Clifton company for the planning department

and made public last week.

So before you go on about lame arguments get your information right by actually spending a bit of time reading the post.

The report I was quoting from IS the report published last week by a Clifton-based company.

So let's be clear, both the original Town Centre and Retail Statement included with the development plans, and the independent assessment published last week that looked at that study were fully aware of the implications of the growth figures for housing associated with the Regional Spatial Strategy.

Proposals by the way that are based on a Labour government strategy that has once again been postponed until Q1 2010 at the earliest, and which a Conservative government have said they will scrap.

So, the Labour government strategy has been postponed until probably after any General Election. So if we get a hung Parliament or Conservative government will this increase or decrease the likelihood of Tesco acquiring Ashton Gate?

Sorry Caravaggio let's be clear, the study by DPDS does not take into account the expected population increases or possible developments or new towns.

It mainly assesses the impact a new Tesco would have on the existing town centre of Bedminster and retail outlets in the area by using the report submitted by NLP.

It does however refer to the RSS which NLP have used to show need . The population forcasts, and proposed developments are not included in it's study/report when making it's conclusions, although they do admit they would have a bearing on the need if they did go ahead.

So in conclusion they can only use the existing information as it stands to make their report, anything else would be based on conjecture.
