22A
The committee that turned down the application; are they Councillors or unelected council employees. If they are Councillors they will be knocking on doors seeking votes to be re-elected within the next 2 years. If the are employees, bend the ear of your local Councillor reminding him he'll be seeking your vote in the next 2 years. Of course, in certain European countries the club would either buy off or have bumped off those committee members (allegedly).
CotswoldRed
Ismbard Kingdom Brunel would turn in his grave with this joke of a council.
Riaz
I fundamentally disagree with this analysis. You don't need to have a great ground to get into the Prem (just ask Blackpool!) and nor does having a new stadium guarantee you any kind of success, commercial or footballing (just ask Southampton!). Yes Derby, Hull and Reading have had a couple of years in the Prem and have new stadia but they are now in no better position than we are football-wise and Hull are in a far worse position financially. If we don't build a new stadium, so be it. BCFC has survived far worse. No, to get there we can stay at ashton gate. But to have sustained success we need to have a bigger & new stadium. We simply would not be able to compete financially if we stay at ashton gate (assuming we ever get to the prem) You mention blackpool. They will go down this season, if not definately the next. They wont have enough income to pay wages & transfer fee for the quality needed in the prem

tompo
Put forward reasoned arguments, point out the cost to the City (Was it £2m if we get the World Cup?). More like £200 million.
