Couldnt agree more. OK I'm not gonna be a hypocrite, I use otib, but thats about the only forum, chat site I use. I don't buy into the whole facebook gibberish Twitter/myspaca, I geninuly have better things to do than 'poke' somone or approve of a picture etc. I wonder how much GDP is lost due to social networking sites and shit on TV ? Probably about the the amount we are in deficit by.

Call me old fashioned, but I long for the days (not that long ago) or meetin ya mates down the pub at a predetermined time to smoke fags and get pissed, no mobile phones with GPS or an APP to regulate your breathing is it now? BREATH IN, BREATH OUT or whatever shit they'll try to sell you next. Screw that.

Anyone who is 30 - 40 like me probably used to make bows and arrows, go fishing, smash up rusty bangers in the field, hunt for porn in the woods, shoot rats and make dens. Todays youth I feel sorry for, poor cnuts cant even play conkers in the playground due to the potential of suing for injury of which you can choose from several low brow firms on any Sky channels every 5 mins. A lot of toadys kids are pale subterranean misfits with elongated necks and no social skills, they cheat on exams and are generally lazy, thick and lacking in ambition and identity. Its not their fault, i'm not having a pop at them, I just fear for the future of this country when social standards are dictated by the media.

Dont get me started on the celeb culture please...GRR In my local Tesco there is a magazine rack the length of an Olympic swimming pool dedicated entirely to celebs like Jordon, Katonia and Sherrle Cole....Who is actually interested? No wonder we have the highest teenage pregnancy in the world with sluts and hookers as role models.

Sorry, i'm on the war path today as i'm not gonna be able to watch the game....or hight lights...Just a disgrace to me.

That is how i feel everyday...and yes i'm in my late 30's. I think people are missing the point of what we are both saying. If for one year of our lives, we all stopped buying Sky Subscriptions, then football would change for the better, drastically. If we stopped buying the crap 'Celeb' mags and trash papers, then they too would change. You only have to appear on tv more than once these days, and they call you a celebrity FFS. We sit in front of computer screens and Tv screens, so much, that the art of socialising and conversation is dying. We are being spoken too by a box, we never talk back. Yes, by getting down the pub, it's not being lazy...it's socialising as a human being was meant too. By interacting with our fellow sppecies and not a digital form of it. Has anyone heard how most kids talk these days ? They don't...they mumble and grunt. A friend of mine is a bus driver. He said the morning school run is full of kids, but silent, all but for the sound of mobile phone's. The kid's are texting one another in the bus...Crazy!!! I too worry about our future. And i'm sure in my mind, it's a way of dumbing down the masses, and increasing the void between the have's and have nots. We are all idiots for just going along with it. We all need to think and act more, instead of just accepting our lot. All imho of course.

Murdoch took over the Sun and turned it into the biggest-selling paper when it was previously close to going out of business. He took Sky from a small broadcaster to becoming the current market leader. Since Sky money has been ploughed into the Premier League, we have attracted the biggest stars and attendances have risen, as well as the game becoming more and more family friendly, and thus making it more inclusive. Also, how is he 'mugging us off'? As far as I'm aware, it is an individual's choice whether or not to purchase Sky, if I chose to spend 40/50 quid a month on it, that makes it my choice, no one forces me to do that.

If he was such a sh1t, why do so many subscribe, choose to have Sky in their home and attendances risen considerably from Division 1 of the early 90's?

I'm not saying he's a Saint, but he puts products on the table, and people buy them. Surely he's simply an incredible astute and in touch businessman?

Murdoch is not evil, he is just a very astute businessman and, as you say, you don't have to buy his products.

Don't forget this is the guy who cracked the London newsprint unions, who (at the time - mid 80's) were resisting change to newspaper production methods, they actually wanted to carry on manually setting individual metal type faces into frames to print the papers and half the payroll were doing nothing all day.

One of my heroes I am afraid Ciderhider, but I loved your several rants on this subject !

I feei sorry for Theo, he was looking good, but that looks a painfull injury. Will be interesting to see if Adam Johnson can have the same sort of impact. Lescott looks slower that Carey. I got 2 0 and rooney to score first at 20/1 but can't see a clean sheet, they will score on the break even though England will win.

You'd see far more union jacks at England games than the st george cross untill '96

But was that because although the union Jack represented Britain as a standard ( all four parts ) certain sections of the establishment liked to feel that England was the be all and end all of Britain, to be honest growing up in the 70's you didn't see so many George crosses as union jacks around, also I don't suppose having our flag used to promote a rather unsaviory organisation helped either!

Your point? Almost everything that is wrong with our country emanates directly from the The Sun newspaper.

Market leader in what sense? It certainly isn't based on number of people watching their channels. They get pathetic viewing figures.

The Premier League is partly responsible for the decline in English football at every level. The England team is worse; Sunday League football struggles to get officials because players and parents think "having a go" at the officials is the norm i.e.they react like Premier League footballers.

PS Also, stop taking the Sky propaganda. The Premier League simply doesn't have the "biggest stars". They all play in Spain.

He has a monopoly on England away games. I have no where else to go (legally) to watch England. You'd think an astute business man would appreciate some competition...

Being "an incredible astute and in touch businessman" doesn't mean he isn't a "Distorter of society, money grabbing, greedy peice of 5h1t". In my experience, on the whole, they are one and the same.

I agree with the famous dad, But take issue with the 'used to be a good player' bit. if Hansen believes Walcott lacks a football brain, What must he think about SWP. He has always been over rated, can't get a kick at Man City and believes he is worth 100k per week.

I call it David Nugent syndrome, he had one very good season and has made a terrific living out of it. Countless coaches will go on believing what they have at their disposal is the same player that had that great season a long time ago, offer him 10's of thousands a week and all they get is an expensive Bas Savage. SWP needs one good game in 10 and the media go into meltdown.

A perfect example of how we go for physical attributes over ability in this country, especially with youngsters.

Was a joy having PROPER footballers on the flanks for most of the game, shame it was ruined by that shocking muppet.

Typical of the hypocrisy and the way the tabloids and press work in this country, is the whole Rooney affair. The Notw paper is full of Tit's and Ass and adverts for Porn etc...it thrives on that kind of stuff. Yet they decide to bring the 'Rooney' story out, during the middle of an important International campaign. Do you not think, they knew of this 'Scandal' before? They have decided when to bring out this Story. They know it will make the biggest news and disruption at this very time. In fact, they want England to fail. They actually want it. Bad news sells more papers. They have no interest in the welfare of this country, it's wellbeing or happiness. These Editors and Journalists and media owners are scum, who just want to line their own pockets.
