Referring to Millen's insistence on setting long-term targets rather than worrying about the league table, Elliott spoke on behalf of his team-mates when he said: "We like the way he does things. "We are aware of the position we are in and we know it is not a good one. But we don't want to be reminded of it all the time. "When you are down near the bottom, it is easy to build up every Saturday as a 'must-win' game. All that kind of hype does is build pressure and make it more difficult for us to put things right. "The gaffer has dealt with all of that brilliantly. He has made us look at the bigger picture rather than the league table as it is now.
Monkeh
to be fair he's not going to come out and say the manager hasn't got a clue or we're playing the wrong formation is he
Robbored
to be fair he's not going to come out and say the manager hasn't got a clue or we're playing the wrong formation is he No, of course he's not but it is a nice change to see a player supporting his manager in public. Usually when thing are not good in the dressing room players keep their views out of the public domain.

marmite
I don't go with all this '10 game package' philosophy. Was it part of the plan to be bottom after the 1st 10 games? Things are looking up but its still one game at a time. Every game is important and if we say won the next 5 and then lost the following 5, would people still say 'its ok because we took 15 points from a possible 30'? I would be more worried about 5 successive losses!!

Fair play to him. "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them." Albert Einstein

Robbored
Don't you have any concern when our manager makes, in anyone's estimation, a fundamental mistake of this nature? I would if he made the same mistake again. Everyone can be forgiven for making a mistake, even a fundamental one.
mindjuicer
Yep, Millen did and has learnt from his mistake. Fair play to him. It's also possible that what Millen conveyed to the press and to his players were 2 different things. Anyway, my totally-in-the-dark rating for Millen has gone from a 4 to a 7 out of 10 with this.
