Emergency Loan Fullback

Apparantly KM is scouring the market for an emergency Fullback.

With Carey out for a minimum month, Jamie out, Ribs over injury but not match fit, and Skuse injured, we are in the mire again. Apparantly KM won't risk playing Hunt after his disaster against Leeds. Caulks also carrying a knock.

If we don't get anyone in before Saturday...we could be in a real mess. Suprised it's not been mentioned before on here.

I wonder who's available for loan?

How about Bradley Orr?!

Surely Hunt can't be that bad can he? If he is why aren't we cancelling his contract instead of paying him when there is no intention to play him?

A contract is a contract. You can't just cancel it. Not unless both parties agree. Hunt can just sit in the reserves if he wants, being paid £1000's.

KM has said he won't risk him.

Personally I think it's stupid that the club would rather have no one and have to play someone out of position then give Hunt a chance if we can't get anyone in. If we got beat by not playing a player because the club don't like him then it's silly. He is a right back and he is fit and he is being paid by the club. He is on a 2 year deal, what are we expected to do, pay him for another 15 months and not even use him. We will have no chance sending him out on loan or selling him if we refuse to play him, absolutely stupid. Be better off starting him and if he's playing crap after 15 minutes, change it around.

Millen mentions his lack of form. He obviously see's him in training everyday. So to not be picked, with so many injuries, he must be playing really badly. Obviously too much of a liability to play. If you play him and he makes a mistake again, like against Leeds, and we lose 1-0, then the risk is not worth it.

Something very stange has happened to this lad, me thinks.

Yeah probably a lack of confidence in that his career went tits up at Bolton, and now a club in a league below suddenly think he is so bad that a 17yo who has never had a professional football start is considered a better option. Think that would be enough to crush anyone.

Can someone expain to me how it is possible for us to get an emergency loan in, when we in effect have three players at least able to play in their desired position for the club.

Hunt, Ribiero and Edwards are available, but is it ok to say, well, one's crap, anothers not match fit or is injury prone, and the other one is not very experienced.

It seems to make a mockery of what an 'emergency' is. Although I'm not knocking getting some quality in. Can we also have an 'emergency left back, creative midfielder too?

It only took him around a third of that time to lose us the game at Leeds.......

Up until a week or so ago, he was injured or at least that is what the club were saying.

Can't believe a player with his Premier League ability has gone so far down hill, he looks completely and utterly shot....

Perhaps he is a confidence player but he certainly isn;t good enough to start on saturday IMO.

Because what is called an emergency loan does not have any criteria related to emergency.

The club can decide if they're facing an emergency situation or not.

One could argue that as long as we have 11 fit players one of whom is a keeper there is no emergency.

Why pay an emergency loan wages or at least some of it when were already paying a right back his wages in Nicky Hunt. If he scores a match rating less then 8 then dock him two weeks wages :icecream:

Because losing, which is very possible with Hunt on the pitch making heinous errors, could be very very expensive.

If this is all a confidence thing then I don't think playing him and it going badly can be a worse knock to his confidence than playing a midfielder ahead of him in his specialist position, playing a teenager without a league start ahead of him, or picking up an emergency loan signing to play ahead of him. If this is down to confidence then I'd try try giving him the game time to play his way out of it. Let the lad know he's got until the end of the season and the club's full support.

However the message I'm getting from his total disappearance from the matchday squad for the bulk of the season is a bad attitude and a lack of commitment rather than confidence. If it is really bad then freezing him out sets an example. Even so I'd be tempted to play him now (or as soon as we hit 50 points). We will want to offload him in the summer and this will be easier to do if he has had 16 starts this season and finishes the season as a regular rather than 6 starts and frozen out.

A lot of us will remember the "two" Steve Jones's who played for us. One was really bad and took a lot of stick from the crowd.

The other, came back into the team after a lengthy spell out of the team and became a crowd favourite because he changed and put in the hard graft.

Could there be two Nicky Hunts? You never know!
