This had been cancelled twice before, and my brief had two hearings at court for the CPS and Police to hand over the CCTV,and evidence, to which they were ordered by the court. On both occasions the police officer, who was told he had to attend did not turn up and the cctv/evidence was never produced. Magistrate was not happy at the last hearing and told the cps that the copper could be charged with contemp of court. The case was not thrown out, so myself and three witnesses had to attend court again today at 9.30am in Greenwich. At 11.45am the copper still had not turned up, and no cctv or evidence was produced by the procecution. Absolute joke, these are the people running our country. The prosecution asked for the case to be adjourned to a later date, to which the magistrate shot him down before he could finish. She told him, that it would not be adjourned, and that the case was dismissed, and that she wanted the police officer to be investigated, and this to be put on his file. It still annoys me that this was not thrown out months ago, and I have had to have 3 days off work in total, and my witnesses have had to have two days off work. There NEVER was any evidence or cctv, because the police "lost" the cctv, which was handy, because it would have showed the police officer to be a LIAR. Bristol City football club, banned me before I even went to court, on the so say of a certain football liason officer, who was the one who told the London copper to nick me in the first place, ( This is what the copper told me when he first put me in the van ). Did you ever get this copper's number ? By not turning up twice it clearly demonstrates he was in the wrong. Is there some form of complaint process where this copper can be brought to book ? You mentioned sueing the police, but that of course means the taxpayer pays. It would be ideal if you could go after him as an individual. I hope the appropriate authorities are not slow in kicking all the corrupt coppers involved out of the Police service over this. Our country needs to save money, for every corrupt copper they can dismiss over this I'd say £100,000 per annum of taxpayers' money will be saved. Good luck with the compensation claims. They will take the complaint from you and deal with it and keep you informed as to its progress. I must say, an officer not attending a court hearing when warned fror it is a serious matter, and unless there is one hell of a good excuse I don`t think he will be in the job much longer. Don`t be put off by anyone, the IPCC is your best bet and you can make enquries and regsiter your complaint on line. Like many others have said you are definitely due compensation for loss of earnings, missed football matches, travelling expenses, et al. You should also be awarded all costs including solicitor fees. You may try also the Citizens Advise Bureau as another avenue.. sometimes they have a decent legal team available and of course its free so no upfront costs apart from more of your time. Be prepared for a long slog though. Good luck, you seem to be in control. You should also demand, yes demand, a full apology from the Met and BCFC. I'm a supporter of the police, difficult and dangerous job and have to deal with the scum of society. That said, some just let power go to their heads and become obnoxious little twerps - particularly so with the younger element and when group mentality cuts in. The Club need to sort things. Shows how out- of-touch with real fans they are. We've all seen the police over-react at football grounds and make wrongful arrests. Bit more commonsense required me thinks. Fan liasion officer needed with knowledge of what it's like being a football supporter. What other walk of life are you banned for say three years - in case you MIGHT re-offend. If this was anything apart from football fans, the human rights layers would be all over it. What it needs is some little rich kid get arrested, and his millionaire father employ one of the top human rights lawyer, who gets the banning order lifted due his human rights. Then every banning order would be appealed agaist, and over turned. Everytime you are pushed around, stopped from going where you want to go, just because your a football supporter, and you complain, and get arrested, you could then bring up your human rights, and this would be chucked out. I am so suprised that someone who has got arrested and has a load of money hasn't ever done this.
