Mark Mcghee

Obviously a mis-quote in 'This is Bristol' so I've corrected it......

"Mark has a great track record, and has managed at the highest level in this country and in Scotland. His approach is very professional and he impressed us with his plans to take Rovers forward and get the club up where it belongs. We are all now looking forward to the rest of the season month with Mark in charge."

I'm on for City job, says McGhee

By Simon Parkinson

06-Jun-2000

Mark McGhee today spoke of his desire to bring the good times back to

Bristol City.

The Scot, who has managed Reading, Leicester and Wolves in recent years, was

an apprentice at Ashton Gate in the mid-1970s.

He went on to play for Aberdeen, Newcastle (twice), Hamburg and Celtic

during an eventful playing career.

City chairman Scott Davidson yesterday revealed his board had produced a

short-list of eight candidates, with five applicants, one of whom is thought

to be McGhee, and another three - Peter Taylor, Danny Wilson and Joe

Kinnear - who are targets.

Now McGhee, who was a contender for the post a year ago, said: "I have been

watching the team progress under Tony Pulis and particularly Tony Fawthrop.

"To me they seem to be on quite an even keel and no dramatic changes really

need to be made.

"They are looking for someone to go in and bring the whole thing together,

then take it forward.

"Whatever the conditions the board set, I would go in with an open mind.

McGhee, 42, added: "This is a job very close to my heart.

"I know the city well and it is where I started as a professional. In a way

I feel there is some unfinished business to see to.

"I know I can sit opposite the chairman and say: 'I'll give of my best for

this football club, and I'm willing to commit myself long-term to Bristol

City'."

^ We appointed Danny Wilson instead, and McGhee got the Millwall job, and in October 2000 made this famous quote:

"I watched Bury play Bristol Rovers recently and Bristol City are better than both of those two teams."

Just wondering if mcghee and mcinnes are mates? If so what would be the possibility of sending over a couple more agents?

Doubt it, I think Derek would associate with Sir Alex, Kenny, Moyes etc rather than the lesser Scottish managers.

Have you got a link could do with a laugh.

No link as I'm on my phone - just type 'I enjoy discussing my sexual relationship with both my sister and my mother and occasionally with my father' into Google and it will bring up the BRFC Forum.

They are a breed apart on there.
