It's not though, the odds that teams are given just reflect how much money football fans are putting on each club. Sorry, but it seems that for way too long now our soloution to not scoring enough goals has been to go mad on strikers. I don't see that there is a need to sign a striker ahead of a CB and a CM If a striker is signed instead of strengthening in these areas then I would be very dissapointed - unless it was Ronaldo or Messi... Think DM can sign a cb f not we still have Wilson, Carey and Nyatanga. It will be an very interesting season. Think we will be at least midtable. Mighty Squirrel Kingdom Posted August 3, 2012 Report Share Posted August 3, 2012 It's not impossible to predict the Championship...you just have to be a bit more creative than usual. For example, it's more likely to be won by a team that's played at least one season in the competition rather than any of the relegated clubs. Looking at teams that finished in the top ten last season is a good starting point, but I'd steer clear of Blackpool outright at the start of the season - teams that lose the playoff final generally don't win the title at the end of the following season (yes I know Reading did that last season but it's rare). As for the teams that got promoted winning it outright - it's not going to happen. As for our chances of winning outright, it's not impossible, just extremely unlikely. It's also worth remembering that the bookies are looking for mugs in a big way before the season starts and we're getting a lot of attention because your average punter remembers that we were hanging around at the bottom of the table last season and we weren't scoring that much. There's also the perception that somehow we were the beneficiaries of Pompey's points deduction - which wasn't the case at all. If you look at Alex Deacon's excellent rankings in the Racing & Football Outlook, there are five teams that could finish beneath us: Wednesday, Palace, Huddersfield, Peterborough and Barnsley.
