Bored And My Love Of Football Has Gone!

Is anyone else getting slightly bored of watching the drivel we get served up week in and week out? I'm finding it hard to even drag myself to the gate these days because I know what's going to happen before I even sit in my seat, we'll score at least one goal but the opposition will score more because we have no midfield and no defence. It's been the same for at least the last 3 seasons and nothing gets done to sort it! I don't want another manager change at the moment because I don't think that's the answer this time, what I do think we need is to hear from the chairman about what his future plans are with the team and whether or not there is money available to rebuild our midfield and defence. The truth of the matter is the only time we hear from our board is when they want us to buy season tickets and they fill us with promises of money being made available to the manager to build a team capable of challenging. Well SL, JL and whoever else there is, I've got a little message for you, yet again you haven't delivered and the only thing we will be challenging for this season is the 3 places in league one just like the last few years! I know I may have said this before but how many people on here as city fans with SL's massive fortune would not have their hands in their very deep pockets already? I was talking to mates last night and £20m would probably be enough to sort us out, 4x £3m players 2 in midfield, 2 in defence plus wages. I know these ffp rules are coming in but what other clubs in the championship care at the moment, it's not a coincidence that every club in the top 6 had spent big is it?

so Cardiff and Palace at home were boring? - not sure how this season can be described as boring in any way- frustrating, disappointing i can understand but boring?!!!!

In any event makes no difference to me - we've been worse and we've been better will always get to the Gate whenever I can rain/shine Premier League or League two makes not a jot of difference. In the blood .

Do you and your mates fancy stumping up the £20 million that would 'probably sort us'?? Another ridiculous post

....there's a lot of City fans saying the same thing with regard to serious investment in playing staff being needed to keep us in the Championship. In all honesty, we've struggled for the past 3 seasons with various managers trying to get the best out of a BCFC squad that's barely - overall - at Championship football standard. Come on, losing season after season to lower division opposition in all the cup competitions says something about the strength of our squad.

Like I said I'm bored of being in the same situation year in year out. How can you enjoy us scoring when you know the opposition will just score more, it's like torture at the moment! Don't know the exact stats but hull as the away side created at least double what we did if not more, as the home side that isn't good enough

The rules have changed this season regarding spending, we can only spend based on our income and our gates are one of the lowest in the league. I would hazard a guess that we've spent more than we should have already, we'll have to wait and see what penalties are dished out at the end of the season, lets hope it's just a fine and not a points deduction.

We're City, spent the vast majority of our history either scrabbling around the bottom of 2nd tier or being a good team at level three. It's how it is.

I wouldn't mind that to be honest if the club stopped making empty promises year after year to sell season tickets, after our first season in the championship they didn't have to because of the glory hunters buying just in case we went up but ever since they have promised this and that to keep season ticket holders renewing after bad seasons and even worse managerial decisions. To make matters worse they then continuously s*** on us by offering tickets for a tenner and such deals to fill up the ground. They are as bad as banks and mobile phone companies, new customers get everything while existing and loyal customers get nothing ( ok maybe a free pie!)

But we didn't have an owner pouring Millions of £'s into the Club back then.

I thought he was trying to change our 'History'?

Same old...same old regardless of what we do.

Either way...I've never known our fans feel so deflated and dejected with our Club over the past few seasons.

Even compared to the dark days of Div 4.

Whoever is in charge, regardless of our playing staff...it doesn't seem to be working. Something is going wrong somewhere along the line.

Assuming you do live in Singapore tha's just bloody brilliant. I'd guess 'whenever I can' is not very often actually, in which case consider yourself lucky. If in fact you were there for Leeds, Blackburn, Millwall, Burnley, Hull please accept my apologies unreservedly.

I get the impression that we're all stuck in a rut and it's groundhog day year-in year-out.

I guess the major problem is nothing "seems" to ever change, there's no variety.

We get tempted, i.e the club giving us spin to sell season tickets, the fans here rumours about xyzz signing, the owner talks about new stadiums and the council talk about World cup football/rugby/concert arenas, and then it all goes back to square one to be repeated over and over again - it's no wonder were all getting bored.

I get the idea a fair few supporters seem to think we're entitled to a side that's competing at top levels. Clearly they've not read the history books...

Thinking logically the only period where we've had sustained success, relatively speaking, is when we kept faith with the manager, therefore I think we should attempt to replicate that model. Trouble is in todays quick fix society no one thinks long term. Hopefully the board will have the balls to stick with the current incumbent.

What the hell is the point in being in a division if you don't aspire to get promoted again, you may be happy to tread water forever but I'm not. This is the only time we have had a rich owner that has money to get us to the promised land and we haven't made the most of it at all! Sooner or later we'll be back down in league one and then and only then will the happy clappers say 'if only sl had some ambition' when we were top 4 all season in our first season back. Is it wrong to want to get better and not look back at history books? Look forwards and upwards like the stokes wigans etc and don't look back because when you start doing that you may as well give up!

Then what's the point ? How did Wigan and Blackburn Rovers get to the Premier League they had the money to buy in both clubs had struggled for years the chicken farmers took over at Blackburn and down they went trying to work on the cheap,

Coventry City ripped apart under funded and now in free-fall how can you have fair play when relegated Prem teams get their 2 years Sky money...

My main bug-bear Bardiff Bloody City years of ducking and diving ,cheating dodgy owners sell their souls now top of the Championship where are we ????

Citys history full of missed chance's and as pointed out either scrabbling around the basement of the Championship or the 3rd Division...

I can understand your post since Steve Lansdown stepped down City have drifted into a leaderless mess i'm not bored with the football as entertainment i just enjoy the goals and don't let the results get me down, unless the midfield was gutted and quality brought in i expected City to go down before the season started..

Same with the defence its say's alot when a on loan defender is given the captains arm band !!!! How the hell did we get in such a state where not one contracted player is thought capable of leading the team ?????

:city: I wondered what would happen when we did move up a division and become a small fish in a big pond rather than the other way around.

We have only had seasons when we have lost more than we have won in the last season or so,would you rather be a big fish in a small pond in the 1st division or small fish in a big pond ? :robbored:

Yeah right.

why yeah right? He may well do if he was loaded. After all he is a life long city fan, unlike Steve, who has a interest in Bristol sport.

Depends what your real passion is, as to what you invest your money in.

christ, there be another one who thinks of the Premier League as the promised land...

anyhow, the point overlooks the fact that what SL does with his fortune is his own lookout. He's worked hard to get where he is, and it's his prerogative to... do what he wants. It's reassuring to know you'd be willing to stick 20 million into our till, but the fact that you'd be so ready to do so is probably one of the reasons you don't have twenty mill in the first place. as ted mentions, it's very easy to say what you'd do with other peoples notes...

Why is it not the promised land, isn't that where every club wants to be, playing against the best teams and players for the biggest prizes? Are you saying you wanted us to lose the play off final? And as for the money I'm a life long city fan and my dream is seeing our club at the top level like my dad did in the seventies, so yes if I was as rich as sl I would plough in cash to realise my dreams, didn't hurt Jack Walker when he ploughed his own cash into Blackburn to make them premier league champions did it? Ambition is what makes clubs grow, treading water and being happy to do so will not get you anywhere in football FACT! Love how people say yeah right easy to spend others cash etc etc, I doubt very much I'm the only city fan who's grown up watching us dreaming of beating Man U at old Trafford for the prem title, you however must dream of watching city score 3 and concede 4 at home because you seem happy with the way things are!

Got bored of it and haven't been inside Ashton gate for 18 months now. There used to be a time when I wouldn't have missed an away game let alone a home match. Still follow the teams/clubs lack of progress on here and through the low lights on TV. I haven't felt any kind of connection to the club for long while now and going to games was every bit a chore and an absolute waste of valuable time more than money.

Living outside of Bristol, never born or raised in the City, a Saturday game due to travelling and getting parked would start at midday and I wouldn't be home close to 630. Of course the money side of things really doesn't help at all, and no matter how anyone tries to dress up, oh it's only 20 odd quid in advance, I found myself looking at players in a wage value, can't help it, knowing that some players on the field of play earned thousands a week like Sproule for example, a winger middle 20's in age couldn't even cross a ball, or Marv still can't pass an accurate ball 5 yards, our own Louis Carey still making incredibly naive fouls in and around the box that ultimately lead to chances.

The Sproule example for instance, I know he isn't at the club anymore, but how was it that this player could not even cross a ball accurately when he has had the benefit of being around pro coaches from an early age, his asset was he was fast, that was it, fast, no tricks, no killer ball, wasn't a set piece specialist, there was just no sign of a football brain, yet here he was sucking thousands of pounds a week from the club. And he is not a one off by any stretch of the imagination.

This football experience is nothing more than an incredibly expensive, sterile, boring experience that doesn't justify such a big commitment from me, and the players do not deserve to pocket some of the extortionate entrance fee or more importantly my valuable time.

I want the team to do well, no question, but I don't have any regrets of calling time on it. I may be back if my young son asks to go again, but his last words at a match were Dad, this is really boring, and I couldn't really disagree with him.
