Mrdc
Good manager Plus a nice positive guy should be a good appointment for them. Shame that he never really made it above League 1.
BS15_RED
Just realised it's nearly 20 years since he was appointed there first time round, where do the years go ?
slartibartfast
Let's hope he reproduces his Col U form ! Latham must to55ing himself off at this news, the final piece in the jigsaw for him to compleatly go over to the gappers !
Super
They do make me laugh going completely over the top again like they did when they appointed Mcghee! I wouldn't say they are any more likely to stay up now. I do like John Ward though, one of football's good men.
Fordy62
He's in a win win situation taking this job. They can hardly do any worse. I suspect he'll turn it round for them.
Aizoon
On the Sag Forum the title for this thread is "Please God don't let it be John Ward". Encouraging start or what?
bearded_red
A thoroughly decent guy who I have wished well in every job he has had since he left us... Until today! Go on Wardy take them down, you know it makes sense.
Peter O Hanraha-hanrahan
I think that's quite a good appointment, but then I thought the same about McGhee plus I thought we'd get nothing at Hillsborough....so that shows what I know....sweet Jack Sheehat! Nogbad the Bad
McGhee looked an ideal appointment for the gas, not at all sure about Ward. His best managerial days may well be behind him, and, at 61, does he really need the stress of managing The League's Most Tedious Club as they plummet in to the Conference? Bad move by Ward - Impossible to dislike the bloke, but equally impossible to wish him anything but ignominious failure with this one..
CiderHider
Cheap appointnent. hippy273
About the same sort of calibre as Mark Mcghee i would say, they had to try something different so all they can do is try. I think they are as good as down though.
handballbygordonparr
Good or bad decision, their board has been decisive. It may just be enough to save them from relegation - if not then at least they will have tried something. We seam hell bent on waiting for 'something magical to happen' and praying our nice manager will get lucky again. They are no more 'already down' than we are. Both 22 games, 18 points and 2 points from bottom.

SecretSam
Decent bloke, did a good job for us, had a bad run at Colchester but think he's a good man for the state they're in, if he's grooming Stewart as well (fnarr) then that's sensible. I honestly wish him well, but then I'm in the minority in not wanting the Gas to disappear, think that would be a tragedy for Bristol. Plus I no longer really have any contact with Gasheads, so I've no opportunity to take the p155...
Talk Of The Town
Good luck to him. Hopefully he can get the gas back to the same level as us in the next 3 years (league 1).
