Manon
http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/23613462 Ok, quite a few on here took the piss about him bring capable of playing in the championship when at rovers... Now he has an england cal up. What do we think?
slartibartfast
I think it shows a dearth of English born Prem players !
bcfcbs20
Agreed it doesn't say much for English football if fatty Lambert is getting a call up.
BITW
Agreed it doesn't say much for English football if fatty Lambert is getting a call up. True but he is amongst the highest English scorers in the Premier league.

The Dolman Pragmatist
Agreed it doesn't say much for English football if fatty Lambert is getting a call up. If he's fat, then there isn't much hope for the rest of us.
Pickle Rick
Deserves it, amongst many other English players that are normally overseen by big name players that don't play as well.

Bowie
Shows the lack of quality English footballers for what it is. For play to the lad, has actually got himself in good shape since Leaving rovers where his diet consisted of pies, pies and pies. If I recall rightly he was actually in good shape when he joined Rovers. So you could say he's done VERY well to get to the prem and England call up despite playing for Rovers
westred1
Whilst I said he deserves the call up in another thread, there's an interesting stat going around on twitter about another striker selected: 31 defenders scored more goals in the Prem than Danny Welbeck last season. the b's
I think Lambert has earned the chance to show what he can do at international level. He's been a goalscorer at every level he's played at and I had no doubts at all about him being able to score goals at championship level/Prem level. He will certainly bring more to the squad in terms of his all round game than the pony, ponytailed one from east laaandan
The Casual Connoisseur
Good luck to him, we should have put a bid in when we had chance.

LondonBristolian
I was one of the ones who thought he'd struggle in the Championship and he proved me totally wrong! Good luck to him proving us all wrong at International level too...
Nogbad the Bad
I was one of the ones who thought he'd struggle in the Championship and he proved me totally wrong! Good luck to him proving us all wrong at International level too... Me too. We'll just have to try and put his unfortunate past as a portly Rovers player, bulging out of those vile gas quarters, behind us. To be fair to the bloke, no doubt he'd like to delete that period too.....
David Brent
Fair play to the bloke, I think it just highlights how lightweight England are up front though.
oldie
Delighted to see a hard working pro work his way up from the bottom (cue your Gas joke of choice). A very genuine footballer, good luck to the bloke.

HIGHRIDGE BCFC
25 odd years ago,Steve Bull was absolute quality (Especially against us) but was largely overlooked by England. The size of the target doesn't change, and if someone hits it regularly he deserves a chance.

Former Pirate
Some of your lot think you will get some money out of it. Is that right?? No idea mate; BBC Bristol's Ali Durden seemed to think we wouldn't but I know there were a few add ons in the sale but I would have assumed they were things like appearances and winning things with him in the squad; can't be many transfers within League One that have international appearance clauses? MATT BCFC
Just shows how poor the England team is at the moment. See no point in calling up 30 plus one season wonders.
Bar BS3
To be honest, it shouldn't really class as an international cap. It's only against Scotland and I'd expect Ryan Taylor to bag a goal against them!
