God no - what's the point of a football forum that's lost in a sea of pointless posts. It's not hard - you create a post you have 2 options - football related post in one place - non in another, if someone cannot understand such a simple concept then they need to be reminded, if after being reminded a few times they continue to not understand the 2 options then having their post threads moderated has to better than banning them.

It's the posters that throw abuse around that I'd rather see leave......

You'd think so wouldnt you, but that's exactly what people are complaining about. Posters they are fans of dont post anymore as they can't agree to the rules, and it's the Mods fault!

Just seems it has the right balance now - the days when something had to be 100% City related and not general football was to specific / specialised - the forum became much better when it simplified to a general football topic section... the balance seems right now, plus I am a old fart who hates change :P

Are we still merging or do people want 20 threads on Fontaine, and 10 on Fielding after tomorrow?

Now that is something that annoys me - it's not like people cannot see there are threads already on the subject, so when 4-5 people all want to be special snow flakes and create identical threads... not many things online get to me (hell it's just the internet lolz) but for some reason that does and always has.

Concerning that, I understand why you do it. But if you come in late, and the discussions are slightly different in each thread that you merge, I find myself ignoring it as the merge makes it a mess, especially when people do not quote a post. Rock and a hard place sometimes for you guys.

I agree people not bothering to check a thread has not already started is bloody annoying. Almost like I'm shouting loudest, look at my thread!

Why don't keep it as it is, but move threads not in relevant places.

Don't ask them if it's ok, just move them.

I think the point is, it is creating more work for the mods. And friction from some.

Make it easier if the only had to concentrate on things such a potential slander or abusive postings, rather than merging or moving stuff. And then getting whined at.

Exactly!!!

Some of us do not have the time to look at the forum every 5 minutes, so I fine the merging and editing infuriating!

Just keep simple, please.

We don't ask, we do just move threads. But the point is why should we have to when the poster(s) have been politely asked again and again to post in the correct forum and they don't? Most other people can manage it, what makes them different. Also some of these posters would start a thread and then not contribute any further and usually cause an argument within that thread.

On the subject of merging, I think we do try to use common sense. Eg 10 pages discussing the benefits of signing Pack and examples of his goals etc were merged when posts were similar, but when news emerged that he had actually signed it was left in a stand alone thread so everyone could see instantly.

I'm with you on that. I understand why threads are merged because so many people believe they shouldn't have to check if something already has its own thread. Oftentimes there will be 2 threads with different slants on the same subject that get merged because there's already 8 other subjects on that topic.

If for instance someone started a debate on how we could work on improving Fontaine's confidence in the midst of 20 threads a day saying how sh**e he is, it would have undoubtedly been merged when I would have preferred that to stay as its own thread. Not that this happened.

Because sometimes i.e. NTTDs weird and random threads are hilarious and wouldn't be as funny if in "non-football" chat. To me it's like comedians, you are saying people aren't comedian's because you don't find them funny, and on the other hand a lot of others do.

A forum is about opinions, you have the weird and wonderful. This is being stopped through this.

Also regarding posters who start threads and don't contribute, you don't know the reason why they aren't contributing and shouldn't make assumptions.
