Bristol City... Bristol's Premier Football League Club

Whilst looking for an answer to a bit of City trivia, I stumbled across a "Statto Site" relating to English football, and in fact found the answer to another "Stat" I'd often wondered.

I've often wondered which division within the football league pyramid, City have played most games in.

The full breakdown is:

  358 games in the 1st Division/Premier

1970 games in the 2nd Division/Championship

1104 games in the 3rd Division/League 1

    92 games in the 4th Division/League 2

I was surprised, because I'd often thought the third tier would've been highest (having watched since 67-68 season)

Another thing it does confirm is Bristol City being the premier club in Bristol.

For the record The Blue Fews "P R O W D" record:

      0 games in the 1st Division/Premier

  810 games in the 2nd Division/Championship

1518 games in the 3rd Division/League 1

  414 games in the 4th Division/League 2

It's been an enjoyable Fortnight for us Reds who lived through the torment of 1982 and the goading of the Few.

Still, simply by their absence on here, I assume they now know their true place.

Remember seeing this in the OTIB fanzine, but does anyone know how many days it has been since the sags were above us in the league?

End of 1999/2000 to the end of 2013/14 season = 14 x 365 then add three days for the Leap Years 5113 days since they finished higher than City..

For exactness though, they'll have started 2000/01 season above us and fallen below at some stage that season. Just need to establish that date.

Bloody hell, they've only finished above us 8 times in the last 50 seasons!! Next time they tell you they have 51 million fans just mention that little statistic. I wonder how many times they have finished with a higher average attendance than us in the last fifty seasons - I bet it's in single figures. Another stat to hit them with!!

I think the average attendance comparison is a little unfair.

Bear in mind their away followings are massive so artificially inflate the average home attendance of every team they play.

If there were published figures for average away followings they would always come out on top.

Be fair. I think Man Ure are almost up there with the Gas on away fans...
